A Performance of Positioning Accuracy Improvement Scheme using Wavelet Denoising Filter (Wavelet Denoising Filter를 이용한 측위 정밀도 향상 기법 성능)

  • Recently, precision guided munition systems and missile defense systems based on GPS have been taking a key role in modern warfare. In warfare however, unexpected interferences cause by large/small scale fading, radio frequency interferences, etc. These interferences result in a severe GPS positioning error, which could occur late supports and friendly fires. To solve the problems, this paper proposes an interference mitigation positioning method by adopting a wavelet denoising filter algorithm. The algorithm is applied to a GPS/QZSS/Wi-Fi combined positioning system which was performed by this laboratory. Experimental results of this paper are based on a real field test data of a GPS/QZSS/Wi-Fi combined positioning system and a simulation data of a wavelet denoising filter algorithm. At the end, the simulation result demonstrates its superiority by showing a 21.6% improved result in comparison to a conventional GPS system.

Development of the Rubber Removal Primer to Reduce Pavement Damage for Removal of Rubber Deposits in Runways (활주로 고무 퇴적물 제거를 위한 포장 파손 저감형 사전처리제 개발 연구)

  • Rubber deposited during aircraft landing is known as the main cause of reducing surface friction force on wet surfaces. Thus, rubber deposits are removed at regular intervals for sae airplane landing. The high-pressure waterblast method, widely used for the removal of rubber deposits, is regarded as the main cause for the loss of surface material because in this method, water hits the surface directly at a high pressure. In this study, a rubber removal primer is developed to reduce surface damage by lowering the pressure of waterblast relatively during the removal of rubber deposits such that the deposits are removed efficiently even with a lower water pressure. To achieve this, basic materials appropriate for the primer were selected and their performance, penetration rate, and site applicability were evaluated. Based on the evaluations, the proportion of additive required for improving the performance of the basic materials was first determined. Then, the optimum mix ratio was derived through the evaluation of the effect on pavements, and the development of the rubber removal primer was completed.

  • In the recent weapon system trend, it is required to develop small and low cost guidance missile to track and strike the enemy target effectively. Controling the such small drone typed weapon demands a integrated electronic device that equipped with not only a wireless network interface, a high resolution camera, various sensors for target tracking, and position and attitude control but also a high performance processor that integrates and processes those sensor outputs in real-time. In this paper, we propose the android smartphone as a solution for that and implement the guidance and control application of the missile. Furthermore, the performance of the implemented guidance and control application is analyzed through the simulation.

  • In modern-war campaign, precision-guided missiles are dominantly used to minimize the collateral damage. Imaging infrared seekers are widely applied for the precise guidance. Due to the high cost of the infrared detector, the cost for the one-shot weapon's test is a burden for the development. To reduce the test cost, a simulation method including imagery tracking is required, which is so-called integrated-flight simulation(IFS). The synthetic image generation(SIG)-based simulation method is typically used, which however cannot represent various environmental and target conditions. In this paper, a new IFS method is proposed using on-sight measured image to overcome the limitations of the SIG-based IFS(SIIFS). The target image acquired at the launching sight has been used only for checking the performance criteria of the image tracker and has not been tried for IFS since it has low resolution and little information. The study described in this paper, however, shows that the on-sight image-based IFS can predict the pre- and mid-course flight performance quite similarly and is very useful for the flight test analysis.

  • This study investigate the smart phone that is not included in the studies that test the effect of added functionalities to convergence products. There are several questions that PDA, MP3 players that are added a certain function can be good convergence product that consumers love and these are the products that has problem of decrease of sales volume because of the development of smart phone. It is a little bit strange to test these product for this study, so this study suggest a little different research tool compared to the past studies. The research implications are follows like theses. Brand awareness is important factor that decrease the uncertainties and risks specially when a innovative tech is added to smart phone. A situation that a innovative tech is added to smart phone is best to get the consumer's perceived innovativeness, value, and buying intention. And a situation that a innovative tech is added to smart phone in the context of low brand awareness is better than a situation that various normal teches are added to it.

  • As a fiber-optic cable is being unwound, it is protected by a tube that is designed to prevent unwinding problems such as tangling and unintentional cutting. In addition, a guide body is separated from the protective tube if a shear pin breaks when the maximum allowable load is exceeded. Therefore, it is important to analyze and predict the unwinding behavior of the protective tube, as well as the load on the shear pin, to enhance the likelihood of a successful operation when laying cables at extreme depths. In this study, the protective tube and the guide body are modeled with particles and are constrained with a constant-length constraint. The load on the shear pin was verified against experimental data, and the unwinding behavior was predicted from the load prediction results.

  • In this paper, based on the characteristics of proportional navigation, a composite guidance law is proposed for impact angle control of passive homing missiles maintaining the lock-on condition of the seeker. The proposed law is composed of two guidance commands: the first command is to keep the look angle constant after converging to the specific look angle of the seeker, and the second is to impact the target with terminal angle constraint and is implemented after satisfying the specific line of sight(LOS) angle. Because the proposed law considers the seeker's filed-of-view(FOV) and acceleration limits simultaneously and requires neither time-to-go estimation nor relative range information, it can be easily applied to passive homing missiles. The performance and characteristics of the proposed law are investigated through nonlinear simulations with various engagement conditions.

A Development of the High-Performance Signal Processor for the Compact Millimeter Wave Radar (소형 밀리미터파 레이더를 위한 고성능 신호처리기 개발)

  • Recently, small radar has been reduced in size and power consumption to cope with various operating environments. It also requires the development of a small millimeter wave radar with high range resolution to disable the system of target with a single strike. In this paper, we design and implement a signal processor that can be used in small millimeter wave radar. The signal processor for the small millmeter wave radar is designed with a digital IF(Intermediate Frequency) receiver and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) module capable of real time FFT operation for miniaturization and low power consumption. Also it was to leverage the FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) and DAC(Digital Analog Converter) as a means for correcting the distortion of signals that can occur in the receive path of the small millimeter wave radar to create a RF signal that is used by the system. Finally, we verified the signal processor presented through performance test

  • Recently, small radar require the development of small millimeter wave radar with high distance resolution to disable the target's system with a single strike. Small millimeter wave radar with high distance resolution need to process large amounts of data in real time to acquire and track target. In this paper, we summarized the real-time data preprocessing method to process the large amount of data required for small millimeter wave radar. In addition, the digital IF(Intermediate Frequency) receiver, Window processing, and, DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) functions presented by real-time data preprocessing are implemented using FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). Finally the implemented real-time data preprocessing module was applied to the signal processor for small millimeter wave radar and verified by performance test related to the real-time preprocessing function.

  • In recent years, researches utilizing UAV for military purposes such as precision tracking and batting have been actively conducted. In order to track the preceding flight, there has been a previous research on estimating the attitude information of the flight such as roll, pitch, and yaw using images taken from the rear UAV. In this study, we propose a method to estimate the attitude information more precisely by applying the Kalman filter to the existing image processing technique. By applying the Kalman filter to the estimated attitude data using image processing, we could reduce the estimation error of the attitude angle significantly. Through the simulation experiments, it was confirmed that the estimation using the Kalman filter can estimate the posture information of the aircraft more accurately.
