A Study on the Development of the Shipping Business Cluster Complex in Busan (부산 해운 비즈니스 클러스터 집적화 단지 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The shipping business industries which are the transport and logistics intensive in Busan, have been small sized and scattered in many areas, that is why they could not create a synergy effect utterly. Because of the need to develop the shipping business cluster complex in Busan in order to concentrate those industries and attract high value added firms, this study tries to suggest an approach to build the cluster. Firstly, how various shipping business related firms in Busan and capital area demand the cluster complex are searched through questioning survey. Secondly, the gradual scheme to integrate lots of business companies, governmental authorities and educational institutes and global strategy to invite domestic and foreign organizations in Myeong Ji area near to Busan New Port. Thirdly, the expected economic benefits of the cluster construction are calculated quantitatively.

  • 2030년대는 BT시장이 활짝 열리는 시대로 고도화된 IT기술, 데이터 해석기술, 집적회로 개발기술, 생화학기술 등 모든 영역의 기술이 필요할 것이며, 앞으로의 기술개발은 융합을 전제로 하여 IT와 BT의 융합이 관건이 될 것으로 기술개발의 시너지를 내기 위해서는 관련 산업과 대학이 물리적으로 적정한 위치에 임해야 할 것이다. 우리나라에는 2009년 말 현재 819개의 산업클러스터가 만들어졌으며, 한국산업단지공단이 집적화 된 산업단지에 여러 가지 지원시설, 지원제도 등을 제공하고 있으나 기술융합을 위한 지식재산서비스에 관한 지원제도는 미미하거나 거의 없는 실정에 있다. 이를 위해 우리나라 산업단지의 현재 기능을 살펴보고 문제점을 분석하여 산업클러스터 내의 기업들이 서로 유기적인 협력을 통하여 융합기술 개발의 시너지 효과를 극대화 할 수 있는 길을 모색하며, 특히 한국산업단지공단에 꼭 필요하다고 판단하는 지식재산 관련 지원제도(지식재산지원본부)의 기능과 조직구성에 대한 개념과 산업클러스터 내의 기업에게 지식재산전략 수립을 지원할 수 있는 Flow를 제안하여 산업클러스터의 지식재산서비스 지원방안을 제시하였다.

  • Rural Industrial Complex(RIC) is considered as one of the most important sources of off-farm income in Korea. But RICs has many problems since it was beginning development. In 2008, RICs in Gyeongsangbuk-do are 56 place, and are 836 corportations in RICs. Employee is total 20,109 persons. Competitive power of RICs weak location condition, small business, lack of infrastructure, institute. The main focus of this paper is to derive policy suggestion for Gyeongsangbuk-do RICs. We investigate the operation status of Gyeongsangbuk-do RICs. It is necessary that RICs be promoted in light of revitalization program.

  • In 2030s, as we enter in to the era of BT (Bio-Technology) market opening up, technologies in all areas such as IT, data analysis, IC and biochemistry are necessitated. New development in technology will be based on "Convergence", especially between IT and BT. In order to have synergy effects from the convergence, those related industries and universities should be physically inter-related in an appropriate location. Until 2009, 819 industrial clusters where many Korean industries and firms are concentrated have been constructed in Korea. They have had supports from various institutions and facilities. However, few systems designed to assist "intellectual property (IP) service" for technology convergence are found in Korea. Thus, by analyzing current problems and challenges of the Korean industrial clusters, this paper suggests a possible answer to maximize the synergy from technology convergence through organic cooperation among companies in industrial clusters. This paper finds that the Korean industrial clusters need to establish IP service supporting center while suggesting its function and concept on organization structure, and work flow, which help firms to develop IP strategies. In addition, the paper provides a direction for current IP system and policies implemented by the Korean government to be more effective to small-and-medium-sized companies located in the industrial clusters.

A Study on Establishing a Port Business Valley in Incheon Port (인천항 포트비즈니스밸리 전략 수립에 관한 연구)

  • As more manufacturing and global businesses are being pulled into the port area, the idea of a Port Business Valley (PBV) is being pondered as it would create jobs and added value. The PBV would be centered around the harbor and be connected to the port, a logistics district, an industrial district, and the city. The resulting domestic and foreign investment in logistics, industry, business, tourism, living, etc. would vitalize the geographical characteristics of Incheon Port. It would also generate the largest amount of ripple effects between industries in the PBV. However, up until recently, the most frequently offered examples of planning that have helped logistics of a port to grow that have used a PBV have been those of Busan New Port and Gwangyang Port. However, this study is the result of the recent inception of the idea of creating a PBV centered around Incheon Port and the need for experts to develop a plan for such a PBV in Incheon by conducting a site specific study. The aim of this study is to set up the concept of PBV and establish PBV model of Incheon Port. In addition, this study identifies construct factors and their strategies for establish PBV of Incheon Port and then, shows the key factors and related-strategies on Fuzzy-AHP analysis from a survey of logistics experts with Incheon Port.

Manufacturing Industries and Policy Agenda of Goryeong County (고령군 제조업의 실태와 정책과제)

  • The industrial development of Goryeong County was started by the operation of the Ssangrym Agro¬industrial complex in the 1980s. As of 2m3, there are 6 industrial complexes in Goryeong County which account for 80 percent of total employment and 67 percent of total production outPuts in local manufacturing. The local manufacturing industries grew steadily before the 1997 financial crisis which resulted in industrial decline and have shown again a growing tendency since 2000. In this period of growth, manufacturing outPuts are increased and the industrial structure are improved, while employment and value added are in stagnation. The major industrial agglomerations are based in Gaejin-Myun, Dasan-Myun and Ssangrym-Myun, all of which are those in which the agro-industrial complex is operated. More than half of local manufacturing finns are those which came to move in from other regions, looking for cheap labour forces, agglomeration of the related finns and the easy accessibility to transport and communication. However, such local advantages are increasingly losing due to the shortage of labour forces and the lack of industrial networks. Some policy agendas can be suggested as follows. First of all, industrial policy should attempt links with the building-up of the Daegu Technopolis and the up-grading of the local industrial structure towards the knowledge-based industries. Secondly, the local government should make efforts to establish the innovation supporting system for local firms and the industrial and residential basis.

Growth of Korean Shipbuilding-Allied Industries and Regional Implications (우리 나라 조선관련산업의 성장과 지역적 함의)

  • The aim of this study is to examine the regional features of shipbuilding-allied industries comprehensively. Inaddition, this study would offer groundwork to construct spatial networks of shipbuilding-allied industries. Relatively in short term, large modem shipbuilding firms of South Korea have developed under the national strategic support, around southeast coast region. Although small shipbuilding firms and marine equipment firms have supported regional economy, these firms have scaled down their functions and roles due to the national policy. In the long tenn, Korean shipbuilding-allied industries have limitations in stable development, because they have separated their roles. Consequently it is necessary the balanced development of large, medium, and small shipbuilding firms and linkage system with marine equipment firms for overall development of shipbuilding-allied industries. This study suggests two spatial strategy for shipbuilding-allied industries development. First, we need to construct a shipbuilding specialization area which agglomerates competent parts firms adjacent to large shipyards. Second, in national strategy, a long term strategy is required to utilize extremely synergy and external effects induced from a shipbuilding duster of southeast coast region which systematically combines shipbuilding-allied industries, universities, the government authorities, and research institutions.

A Convergent and Combined Activation Plan for Exercise Rehabilitation in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4차 산업혁명시대에 운동재활분야의 융·복합적 활성화 방안)

  • The purpose of this study was to make convergent and combined analysis of the sport industry and exercise rehabilitation in the era of New Normal based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and devise a comprehensive plan for future activation. For this purpose, literature review was performed mainly by analyzing the environment of the sport industry in the New Normal era based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and by carrying out convergent and combined analysis of the sport industry to present a convergent and combined activation plan for exercise rehabilitation comprehensively as follows: First, it is necessary to make a strategy of promoting exercise rehabilitation in convergent and combined ways at the sport industry level. This means development of a convergent and combined exercise rehabilitation-tourism-ICT model as well as a convergent and combined exercise rehabilitation-ICT model through collaboration among ministries, including those of health and sports. Second, it is necessary to convert into a convergent and combined way of thinking and extend and reinforce educational competitiveness in the area of exercise rehabilitation. That is, it is necessary to refine the education and training systems for reinforcing personal ICT competence of exercise rehabilitation majors and relevant ones and provide convergent and combined business commencement education. Third, it is necessary to make different types of research and development by applying practical, convergent and combined skills based on the industrial field to exercise rehabilitation and relevant areas. Efforts should be made to overcome any risk in the era of New Normal and support business commencement with convergent and combined skills for exercise rehabilitation. Fourth, it is necessary to make mid- and long-term clusters where exercise rehabilitation and relevant businesses can be accumulated. This means building an industrial hub and complex for exercise rehabilitation and requires making an R&D-based cluster with industrial-academic-governmental collaboration, maximizing the synergy effects with local infrastructures, and fulfilling the function of realizing a spontaneous profit-generating structure.
