Magnetic Properties of $NdFe_{10.7}TiB_{0.3}N_x$ and $NdFe_{10.7}TiMo_{0.3}N_x$ ($NdFe_{10.7}TiB_{0.3}N_x$$NdFe_{10.7}TiMo_{0.3}N_x$의 자기특성)

  • It has been found that B is very effective for the increase of magnetization and Curie temperature in $NdFe_{11}TiN_x$-type compounds having $ThMN_{12}$-type structure. Experimental results have shown that magnetization and Curie temperature of $NdFe_{10.7}TiB_{0.3}N_x$ are 148 $Am^2$/kg and $560^{\circ}C,$ respectively, by about 20 $Am^2$/kg and $90^{\circ}C$ higher than those of $NdFe_{10.7}Ti_{1.3}N_x.$ On the other hand, Mo is effective for the increase of anisotropy field, and it seems to strongly inhibit the formation of ${\alpha}-Fe$ phase during the nitrification treatement. The anisotropy field of $NdFe_{10.7}TiMo_{0.3}N_x$ is about 7960 kA/m (100 kOe) which is about 1590 kA/m (20 kOe) higher than that of $NdFe_{10.7}Ti_{1.3}N_x$.

PTCR Characteristics of Multifunctional Polymeric Nano Composites (PTCR 나노 복합기능 소재의 전류 차단 특성 연구)

  • Electrical characteristics of crystalline polymer composites filled with nano-sized carbon black particle were studied. The developed composite system exhibited a typical positive temperature coefficient resistance (PTCR) characteristic, where the electrical resistance sharply increased at a specific temperature. The PTCR effect was sometimes followed by a negative temperature coefficient resistance (NTCR) feature with temperature, which seemingly caused by the coagulation of nano-sized carbon black particles in the excessive quantity. The PTCR temperature was controlled by the carbon black content and the external voltage. The change of electric conductivity was shown as a function of carbon black content, and the resistance was constant when the carbon black content was over 20 wt%. The room-temperature resistance was maintained by a repeated heating and cooling. The excellent PTCR characteristic was demonstrated by the low resistance in the initial stage and the instantaneous heating capability.

  • $BaTiO_3$는 대표적인 강유전체 재료로서 적층형 세라믹 콘덴서 (MLCC), PTC thermistor, resonator 등 다양한 분야에서 사용되고 있다. $BaTiO_3$ 기본조성으로 하는 PTC 써미스터는 온도가 올라감에 따라 저황이 높아지는 특성을 가지고 있으며, 이러한 PTCR 특성은 작동되는 큐리온도에 따라 그 적용이 달라진다. PTCR 소자는 소결온도, 소결분위기, 불순물, 첨가제 등의 제조공정상의 인자들과 기공률, 결정립 크기 등이 복합적으로 작용해 PTCR 특성에 영향을 미치기 때문에 제조하기에 무척 까다로운 소자로 알려져 있다. 하지만 우수한 특성을 지닌 PTCR 소자를 제조하기 위하여 새로운 조성개발이 이루어지고 있으며, 전기적 특성 개선, 재현성 확보, 제조원가 절감 등의 측면에서 새로운 공정개발이 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Sm을 첨가한 $BaTiO_3$계 재료의 PTCR 특성에 미치는 Ti/Ba ratio 등의 변화에 따른 영향을 조사하고 공기 중과 환원분위기 중에서 소결된 시편의 차이점과 재산화 처리에 따른 PTC 특성에 미치는 영향을 R-T 측정으로 고찰하였다. 본 조성은 환원 분위기에서 소결할 경우 그 미세구조는 Ti/Ba ratio비가 높을 때 grain size가 커져 상온 비저항을 낮출 수 있었다. Sm 첨가로 상온 비저항값은 낮출 수 있었으나 공기 중에서 재산화 처리하더라도 jumping ratio$(R_{max}/R_{25^{\circ}C})$는 Ti/Ba ratio와 거의 무관한 것으로 분석되었다.

Studies on Improving the Physical Properties of Pr-Fe-B System Rare-Earth Magnets (Pr-Fe-B계 희토류 자석의 물리적 특성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • To obtain the Pr-Fe-B ternary system magnets with higher $(BH)_{max}$, the effect of composition ratio and various heat-treatment temperatures on the magnetic properties of Pr-Fe-B system rare-earth magnets were investigated. The magnets with various composition of Pr and Fe were heat-treated at $990^{\circ}C$, $625^{\circ}C$, $585^{\circ}C$, $550^{\circ}C$ after sintering. Curie temperature is $310^{\circ}C$ and quantitative analysis by SEM, EDX shows that the $Pr_{2}Fe_{14}B$, Pr-rich phase consist of Pr~14 at.% and Fe~86 at.%, Pr~58 at.% and Fe~42 at.%, respectively. The coercivity is decreased after heat-treating at $990^{\circ}C$ and increased from 5.6 to 6.3 kOe at $625^{\circ}C$. The maximum energy product is decreased from 43.4 to 30.3 MGOe after the heat-treating at $990^{\circ}C$ but increased from 42.7 to 45.0 MGOe, about 5 %, by heat-treating at $625^{\circ}C$.

Magnetic Susceptibility of the Single Crystal MnF2(1.5% EuF3) (단결정 MnF2(1.5% EuF3)의 자기 감수율)

  • In order to investigate the magnetic properties of Eu ions in the single crystal $MnF_2$, the temperature dependent magnetic susceptibilities of the antiferromagnetic $MnF_2$ and the single crystal $MnF_2$(1.5% $EuF_3$) with the rutile structures were measured in the temperature range from 4K to 300K. The detailed analysis of the measured susceptibilities showed that the magnetic susceptibility by the doping of the small amount $EuF_3$ in the antiferromagnetic single crystal $MnF_2$ follows the antiferromagnetic Curie-Weiss law with the negative paramagnetic Curie temperature similarly as in $MnF_2$. It was also found that Eu ion has +3 valence. This solves the long standing discrepancy on this problem.

Annealing Effect on Magnetic and Electrical Properties of Amorphous Ge1-xMnx Thin Films (비정질 Ge1-xMnx 박막의 전기적, 자기적 특성에 미치는 열처리 효과)

  • Amorphous $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ semiconductor thin films grown by low temperature vapor deposition were annealed, and their electrical and magnetic properties have been studied. The amorphous thin films were $1,000{\sim}5,000\;{\AA}$ thick. Amorphous $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ thin films were annealed at $300^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 minutes in high vacuum chamber. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that as-grown $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ semiconductor thin films are amorphous and are crystallized by annealing. Crystallization temperature of amorphous $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ semiconductor thin films varies with Mn concentration. Amorphous $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ thin films have p-type carriers and the carrier type is not changed during annealing, but the electrical resistivity increases with annealing temperature. Magnetization characteristics show that the as-grown amorphous $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ thin films are ferromagnetic and the Curie temperatures are around 130 K. Curie temperature and saturation magnetization of annealed $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ thin films increase with annealing temperature. Magnetization behavior and X-ray analysis implies that formation of ferromagnetic $Ge_3Mn_5$ phase causes the change of magnetic and electrical properties of annealed $Ge_{1-x}Mn_x$ thin films.

Effects of A-site Ca and B-site Zr Substitution on the Dielectric Characteristics and Microstructure of BaTiO3-CaTiO3 Composite (A-site Ca 및 B-site Zr 첨가에 의한 BaTiO3-CaTiO3복합체의 유전특성 및 미세구조에 미치는 영향)

  • The dielectric and sintering characteristics of composites made by substituting Ca ion to Ba-site and Zr ion to Ti site in $(Ba{1-x}Ca_x)(Ti{0.96-yZr_ySn_{0.04})O_3$ $(0.15{\leq}x{\leq}0.20,\;0.09{\leq}y{\leq}0.14)$ were investigated. As the content of Ca was more than 15 mol%, composite was formed by precipitating the second phase whose main element was $CaTiO_3$ and the fraction of the second phase was increased. The curie temperature of composites was depended on Ca concentration, $-1.7^{\circ}C$ per mol% and the maximum dielectric constant of composite was decreased by the rate of 200/mol%. The substitution of Zr ion decreased the curie temperature by the rate of $10^{\circ}C$ per mol% and the maximum dielectric constant was decreased by 217/mol% due to the increase of diffuse phase transition. The density and insulation breakdown characteristics were improved by suppressing the abnormal grain growth due to the increase of second phase. We developed the composition of Y5U (EIA standard) condenser which had high breakdown voltage and dielectric constant by controlling diffuse phase transition by the addition of Zr ion into composite.

  • The purity dependence of the Curie point and the critical exponent of heat capaicty has been studied by measuring the resistvity of nickel samples with several different purities. The resistivity was measured by the 4-point ac method with a lock-in amplifier. The Curie points determined from in-phase and out-of-phase signals were found to be consisten twith each other . We found that the Curie point and the critical exponent of heat capacity did not depend on the purity of samples.

  • It has been reported that Co-based amorphous ferromagnetic alloys annealed in a small magnetic field develop a reproducible, asymmetric hysteresis loop. If the direction of the field during annealing is regarded as +, the magnetization reversal from - to + is smooth and reversible, with its slope determined by the demagnetizing field of the sample. This phenomenon is called the asymmetric magnetization reversal (AMR). The shape of the hyster-esis loop depends sensitively on the condition during the anneal and the alloy composition. Here, we report on the effect of the annealing temperature and time on AMR in a zero magnetostrictive ferromagnetic amorphous alloy. The AMR effect develops in a very short time at a reasonably high temperature, but is stabilized by annealing for a prolonged time.

  • PSN-PT 2성분계 압전세라믹스의 상도로부터 유전적, 압전적 특성이 양호한 MPB (Morphotropic phase boundary)부근의 조성을 선택하여 도너 도펀트인 $Nb_2O_5$와 억셉터 도펀트인 $Fe_2O_3$를 각각 $0{\sim}9wt%$ 첨가하여 유전특성을 비교, 연구해보았다 시편모두 $1250^{\circ}C$이상에서 이론밀도의 96%이상의 값을 얻을 수 있었고 상온, 1kHz에서 $Fe_2O_3$의 경우 0.1wt% 첨가된 시편에서 ${\varepsilon}_r=2054$의 최대 비유전율이 나타났으며, 0.7wt% 첨가된 시편에서는 $tan{\delta}$=0.49%의 최소 유전 손실값을 얻었다. 도펀트가 첨가됨에 따라 ${\varepsilon}_r$는 점점 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 큐리온도 Tc는 $Fe_2O_3$의 경우에서 더 큰 값이 나타났다. $Nb_2O_5$의 경우 도펀트의 증가에 따라 완만한 Relaxor의 형태로 나타났다.
