  • Anterior segmental osteotomy were performed in 8 patients with Angle's II malocclusion or anterior maxillary protrusion. Cupar's method was used for operation. The period of follow up for patients were 15 months by average. This study discussed the postoperative complications and soft tissue change after anterior segmental maxillary osteotomy. There are not specific major complications.

Effects of Fermented Milk Intake on Hepatic Antioxidative Systems in Alcohol treated Rats (알코올 투여한 쥐에서 발효유의 섭취가 간조직 내 항산화 체계에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of fermented milk, $Kupffer's^{\circledR}$, intake on hepatic antioxidative systems were investigated in rats fed ethanol (3 g/kg B.W.) for 2 weeks. Serum AST and ALT were $88.7{\pm}6.5\;and\;41.2{\pm}4.1IU/L$ in control group, $114.6{\pm}7.1\;and\;64.7{\pm}3.8IU/L$ in alcohol group, and $94.0{\pm}5.5\;and\;44.7{\pm}5.3IU/L$ in fermented milk (FM) group, respectively. Fermented milk intake decreased hepatic glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities of FM group to level of control group (p<0.05). Glutathione S-transferase activity of fermented milk group increased by 122% compared to control group. These results suggest antioxidative activities of lactic acid bacteria and ingredients in $Kupffer's^{\circledR}$ improve antioxidative system in alcohol-treated rats.

A Study on the Performance of the Ring-type Impulse Turbine for Wave Energy Conversion (파력발전용 링타입 임펄스터어빈의 성능 해석)

  • This paper deals with the design and aerodynamic analysis of a so-called 'ring-type' impulse turbine for wave energy conversion. Numerical analysis was performed using the CFD cock, FLUENT. The main idea of the proposed turbine rotor was to minimize the adverse effect of tip clearance of the turbine blade; the design was borrowed from a ducted propeller with connected ring tip for special purpose marine vehicles. Results show that the efficiency increases up to $10\%$, depending on flaw coefficient, with the higher flaw coefficient yielding better efficiency. Decrease of input coefficient CA was the main reason for higher efficiency. Performance of ring-type rotor at various design parameters, as well as flaw conditions, was investigated, and the advantages and the disadvantages of the present impulse turbine were also discussed.

  • Information of video can be percieved as the form of visual rhythm through temporal ordering systems. The shot, the base unit of video analysis, affects audience psychologicaliy with various temporal combination. Here, psychological stress and density of the story can be adjusted by the point of view shot of character. Acordingly the correlation analysis of shot duration and point of view shot can be useful for visual rhythm research. Identity one of the thriller genre works was selected for analyzing. Estimate of pesticide residues in tomato varieties using ratio of surface area to weight (비표면적을 이용한 토마토의 과종별 농약 잔류량 예측)

  • This study estimated the correlation between surface area/weight ratios and pesticide residues in two varieties of tomato, mini tomato and tomato. The ratios of surface area/weight of mini tomato and tomato were $2.15cm^2g^{-1}$ and $1.00cm^2g^{-1}$ respectively. Pesticide residues were measured with four kinds of pesticide, chlorothalonil WP, chlorothalonil SC, oxadixyl WP, thiophanate-methyl WP. Ie residue amount of mini tomato was $1.4\sim2.4$ times higher than those in tomato regardless of the application date and frequency. The ratios of surface area/weight on tomato varieties played a key role for determining pesticide residue.

  • This research has studied developing the persona model based on alan cooper's user oriented design which is newly in the limelight in the field of product design process. As developing the persona model, In-depth interview and FGI(focus group interview) has been conducted for extracting car navigation user group's motivation and using attribute. Based on research, three different car navigation user group were divided-low using & understanding the function group, medium using & well understanding the function group, heavy using & well understanding the function group. This research yielded the foundation for setting the persona model and this persona gives the key factor for producing the user oriented user Interface design after all.

  • Objectives : Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen (BCL), a traditional herbal medicine, is a distilled product of condensation from the burning of fresh bamboo stems. We previously identified the anti-oxidant capacity of BCL in hepatocytes and suggested that BCL is a promising therapeutic candidate for treating oxidative stress-induced hepatocellular damage. Despite the importance of the role played by Kupffer cells in liver disease, the efficacy of BCL on Kupffer cells is unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether BCL could suppress LPS-induced inflammation and LPS+ATP-induced inflammasomes in Kupffer cells. Methods : We used ImKCs, a murine immortalized Kupffer cell line to examined whether BCL inhibited LPS-induced inflammation response and oxidave stress. And, we prepared a total of 18 L of BCL, purchased from Bamboo Forest Foods Co., Ltd. (648 Samdari, Damyang-eup, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, Republic of Korea), was concentrated using a decompression concentrator. Result : The LPS-induced release of inflammatory cytokines was abolished by BCL treatment. Also, BCL treatment suppressed the LPS+ATP-induced expression of inflammasome proteins (NLRP3, IL-1, and IL-18), and inhib β ited the release of IL-1 . BCL decreased LPS-or LPS+ATP-induc β ed reactive oxygen species production. In addition, BCL increased nuclear translocation of Nrf2 and the expression of HO-1 in a time-dependent manner. Conclusion : These results suggest the efficacy of BCL with respect to its anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammasome effects mediated by Nrf2 in Kupffer cells.

Egg Development and Morphology of Larva and Juvenile of Liparis tanakae in the Coastal Waters off Yeosu (여수 연안산 꼼치(Liparis tanakae)의 난발생 및 자치어 형태발달)

  • This study aims to contribute to the research on resource recovery for the rapidly declining population of Liparis tanakae by observing the larval development process and the morphology of juveniles based on their growth. Natural spawning eggs collected in Yeosu were used for observing the process of egg development and larval morphology. The water temperature during the rearing process was maintained at 12.3~13.5℃ (average 12.7℃). The fertilized eggs had an egg diameter ranging from 1.57 to 1.79 mm (average 1.71 mm) and were spherical and adhesive. Within 4 hours 35 minutes after fertilization, they reached the two-cell stage, and after 74 hours 10 minutes, the formation of the yolk sac began. At 106 hours post-fertilization, a caudal fin appeared at the tail tip. Hatching began at 526 hours, and the larvae developed with the yolk sac positioned just behind the eyes. The newly hatched larvae had both the mouth and anus open. Melanophores appeared inside the lower jaw and around the tail on the third day after hatching. By the 16th day after hatching, most of the yolk was absorbed, and melanophores were visible in the head region. Finally, on the 63rd day after hatching, the head region significantly developed, and the body shape and mouth were similar to those of an adult fish, signifying the transition to the juvenile stage. This study will serve as valuable data for aquaculture techniques related to the conservation and restoration of fish species based on the hatching and juvenile morphology of Liparis tanakae.
