쾌속조형재료의 강도예측모델 - Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) (Strength Prediction Model of Rapid Prototyping Parts - Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM))

  • 쾌속조형(Rapid Prototyping)기술은 다양한 형태치 재료를 사용하여 초기모형을 제작할 수 있다. Stratasys사의 FDM은 플라스틱 재료로 조형물을 제작하는 대표적인 쾌속조형공정이다. 또한 FDM으로 제작된 부품들은 하중을 받는 구조용 재료로도 사용된다. FDM은 약 300$\mu$m 두께의 가는 필라멘트의 형태의 일정한 방향으로 재료를 적층하므로, FDM으로 제작된 부품들은 이방성 재료의 성질을 나타낸다. 본 연구에서는 FDM 부품의 인장강도를 예측하기 위한 해석방법을 제시하고자 한다. 복합재를 위한 Classical Lamination Theory를 사용하여 컴퓨터 코드를 작성하였다. FDM 제품의 파괴를 예측하기 위하여 계산펀드에 Tsai-Wu failure criterion 이론을 도입하였다. 해석방법에 의해 예상되는 인장강도와 실제 실험으로 얼은 수치를 비교하였다. 예상치가 측정치에 근사한 값을 보이므로 본 계산식의 타당성이 입증되었다. 덧붙여서 FDM의 강도계산과 설계규칙이 웹기반의 제안서비스(FDMAS)에서 제공된다.

쾌속조형 원리를 이용한 대형 모델의 제작 (Fabrication of a Large Object by Rapid Prototyping Technics)

  • In order to reduce the lead-time and cost, the technology of rapid prototyping(RP) has been widely used. This paper describes the methodology to fabricate a large object by using the principle of rapid prototyping. By laminating thick and sloping polystyrene foam plates, we can make the large model which has three dimensional, continuous surfaces faster and easier than conventional processes. Estimated error was much smaller than other RP products which have stepped effect. For accuracy improvement and post processing, machined metal plates are added between the thick plates. To keep the continuity of surface and strengthen the model, pilot holes and guide rods are applied. By the methodology described in this paper, a missile body with flush air intake was fabricated.

삼차원 스캐너와 가변 적층 쾌속조형공정을 이용한 대형 입체 형상의 쾌속 제작 : 러쉬모어산 기념물 제작 사례 (Rapid Fabrication of Large-Sized Solid Shape using 3D Scanner and Variable Lamination Manufacturing : Case Study of Mount Rushmore Memorial)

  • This paper describes the method to rapidly fabricate the large-sized physical model with the envelope model size of more than 600 mm${\times}$ 600 mm${\times}$ 600 mm using two type semi-automatic VLM-ST processes in connection with the reverse engineering technology. The fabrication procedure of the large-sized solid shape is as follows: (1) Generation of STL data from 3D scan data using 3D scanner, (2) generation of shell-type STL data by Boolean operation, (3) division of shell-type STL data into several pieces by solid splitting, (4) generation of USL data for each piece with VLM-Slicer, (5) fabrication of each piece by cutting and stacking according to USL data using VLM-ST apparatus, (6) completion of a shell-type prototype by zigzag stacking and assembly for each piece, (7) completion of a 3D solid shape by foam backing, (8) surface finish of a completed 3D solid shape by coating and sanding. In order to examine the applicability of the proposed method, the miniature of the Mount Rushmore Memorial has been fabricated. The envelope model size of the miniature of the Mount Rushmore Memorial is 1,453 mm${\times}$ 760 mm${\times}$ 853 mm in size. From the result of the fabricated miniature of the Mount Rushmore Memorial, it has been shown that the method to fabricate the large object using two type semi-automatic VLM-ST processes in connection with the reverse engineering technology are very fast and efficient.

  • In this paper the advantage of web technology applied to Rapid Prototyping is discussed. Two fabrication processes are chosen to be web-enabled. One, a post-process of FDM is developed to provide translucent plastic parts made of medical grade ABS material. The other, a system to fabricate laser machined Light Guide Panel is developed. In order to show the timesaving characteristics of the web-based tools, two websites are implemented (http://nano.gsnu.ac.kr/fdm & http://nano.gsnu.ac.kr/laser). The 3-tier architecture is applied for the Internet communication between designers and manufacturing sites, The integrated design tools and physical manufacturing processes enable designers to submit a new design and to receive the fabricated parts in an expedited manner. Example parts are fabricated using the web-based system to prove the concept of the web-based design and Rapid Prototyping.

  • 쾌속조형기술(Rapid Prototyping Technology)은 설계단계에 있는 3차원 모델을 시제품(Prototype)으로 다른 중간과정 없이 빠르게 생성하는 새로운 기술을 말한다. CAD 모델 데이터는 3차원 형상 시스템이지만 모니터 화면이나 문서로 출력할 때는 2차원으로 밖에 표시되지 않는다. 반면에 쾌속조형기술은 설계된 3차원 CAD 데이터를 2차원 단면 데이터로 변환한 후 RP(Rapid Prototyping)공정을 적용하여 순차적으로 적층해 감으로써 CAD 데이터와 같은 3차원 입체 형상을 제작하게 된다. 그러나 RP 시스템은 매우 가격이 비싸서 칫솔이나 완구 등과 같은 생활용품을 제작하는 중소기업에서는 구입하기 어려운 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 오픈소스를 사용하여 RP 기술을 구현함으로써 저렴한 가격으로 구매할 수 있는 RP 시스템을 개발하기 위한 3차원 제어시스템을 제안하였다.

UV 레이저 어블레이션과 상변화 충진을 이용한 3차원 마이크로 부품의 쾌속 제작 (Rapid Manufacturing of 3D Micro Products by UV Laser Ablation and Phase Change Filling)

  • UV laser micromachining are generally used to create microstructures for micro product through a sequence of lithography-based photopatterning steps. However, the micromachining process is not suitable for the rapid realization of complex microscale 3D product because it depends on worker experiences, excessive cost and time to make many masks. In this paper, the more effective micro rapid manufacturing process, which is developed upon the base of laser micromachining. is proposed to fabricate micro products directly using UV laser ablation and phase change filling. The filling process is useful to hold the micro product during the next ablation step. The proposed micro rapid manufacturing process is also proven experimentally that enables to fabricate the 3D microscale products of UV sensitive polymer from 3D CAD data to functional micro parts.

  • Rapid tooling technique enables us to make dies and molds that produce prototype parts with the correct material at a substantially reduced cost and time. In this study, experiments on selective laser sintering of tungsten carbide-cobalt mixture were carried out to find optimal sintering conditions that will be applied to rapid metal tooling. The experiments were carried out within an air, an argon and a nitrogen atmosphere. Coupons of single layer were sintered at various laser powers, scanning speeds and scan spacings. Very severe oxidation took place within an air atmosphere. The oxidation is reduced significantly within an argon and a nitrogen atmosphere. The thickness of the sintered coupons is increased as the energy density, the laser energy Per unit scanned area, is increased. Several multi-layer sintering experiments were also carried out.

급속조형기술을 이용한 쾌속정밀주조 금형 및 시제품 제작 (Die Making and Product Prototype Fabrication in Investment Casting by SLA Rapid Prototyping Technique)

  • In this study, a stereolithography apparatus (SLA) prototype is used as a master model to be transformed into the silicone pattern by vacuum tool forming. The tool for the first prototype is fabricated by using this silicone pattern. Following this procedure, a temporary tool with metal powder and epoxy for wax injection is prepared for the die set of quick change type which consists of upper and lower base die나 and an insert die. The die set of quick change type appears to be very effective in casting operation by changing tools rapidly. The original wax pattern is formed through the die set, and is made of lost-was. Finally the lost-wax pattern is applied to investment casting. The final casting product is checked regarding its dimensional accuracy.
