Rapid expansion of digital convergence, involving services and technologies from different areas that are combining to create new forms of products or services. Digital convergence itself is changing from technology-based to content-based, to include the convergence of different types of contents as well as contents of the same kind. In line with this trend, vigorous researches are being done to combine various formats and types of academic contents to create new services. In this paper, we examine cases of connection and convergence among different types of academic contents and analyze its characteristics, as well as the pros and cons. We especially focus on CLICK, KISTI's model of connection and convergence among different types of contents, to introduce a special feature of convergence platforms, difficulties involved and their solutions, and researches to be conducted in the future.

국내외 연구자들은 각자의 분야에서 다양하고 중요한 연구를 수행하면서 그 연구결과물을 생산하고 있다. 연구결과물의 형태는 학회지 및 학술대회 논문, 연구보고서, 특허, 연구노트, 세미나 발표자료, 학교교재, 신문 및 잡지의 기사 등 매우 다양하다. 이런 다양한 연구결과물을 같은 학문 분야, 같은 주제의 연구자들끼리 서로 공유하고 교환하기 위해서는 정보의 자유로운 이용에 근거한 커뮤니티 환경이 필요하다. 이에, 국가 과학기술정보 유통기관인 한국과학기술정보연구원(KISTI)에서 보유하고 있는 문헌 콘텐트와 사실 콘텐트를 주제별로 분류하고 재가공하여 특정 주제분야 전문 연구자들을 위한 오픈 아카이빙, 오픈 액세스 개념을 적용한 커뮤니티 모델을 개발하여 제공하고자 한다. 본 커뮤니티 모델은 요즘들어 가장 많은 연구가 진행되고 있는 생명과학 분야의 연구결과물을 중심으로 개발하였다. 커뮤니티 모델을 개발하기 위하여 1) KISTI가 보유하고 있는 콘텐트 현황을 조사하고, 2) 그 중에서 생명과학분야 콘텐트의 형태와 특성을 분석하고, 3) 연구자들이 연구결과물을 자유롭게 업로드/다운로드할 수 있는 웹 환경의 플랫폼을 설계하였다.

Among biological information, GenBank, provided by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)of the United States, is a representative database on genetic information and is the most widely used by researchers around the world. Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) visits NCBI on a regular basis and downloads the latest version of GenBank to reorganize the information gathered there into a database. This database is provided for Korean researchers of science and technology through the Bio-KRISTAL search engine, developed by KISTI. This study aims to design a service model that links information on papers, patents, and biodiversity and other contents of NDSL, an integrated service on scientific and technological information run by KISTI, with GenBank's reference and organism fields and to develop a prototype system. For this purpose, this paper explores the possibility of a linkage and convergence service between heterogeneous content by: (a) collecting GenBank data from NCBI's FTP site; (b) dividing GenBank text files into basic and reference genetic information and restructuring them into a database; (c) extracting article and patent information from the GenBank reference fields to generate new tables; and (d) leveraging data mapping technology to implement a prototype system where GenBank and NDSL data are interlinked and provided.

본 고에서는 최근 표준화가 완료된 MPEG-A(ISO/IEC 23000) Part 9 DMB-AF의 표준화 배경 및 서비스 모델을 소개하고 기술적인 구성요소에 대해 설명한다. DMB-AF는 MPEG-4 Part 12 ISO Base Media File Format에 기반한 DMB 콘텐트 전용 파일 포맷으로, 다양한 종류의 지상파 DMB 및 위성 DMB 콘텐트를 체계적으로 표현하고 효과적으로 저장 및 접근하며 안전하게 보호/유통하기 위한 기술들이 포함되어 있다. 이러한 DMB-AF 표준은 다양한 DMB 콘텐트들을 적절히 연계하여 방통융합 환경에서 다양한 비즈니스 기회를 창출할 수 있는 공통의 프레임워크를 제공할 뿐 아니라, 저장매체를 매개로 하여 사용자가 원하는 시점에 원하는 프로그램을 원하는 장치에서 시청할 수 있도록 하는 DMB-Anytime 서비스를 가능하게 한다.

전세계적으로 대형 자연재난 및 사회재난의 증가로 재난 대응 체계 고도화에 대한 국가적인 관심과 요구가 급증하고 있다. 다양한 재난유형에 대한 효과적인 대응을 위해서는 사전에 구축된 재난유형별 전문가 Pool의 구축과 활용이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 학술콘텐트를 활용하여 재난안전분야 전문가들을 식별 및 분석하고 식별된 재난분야 학술정보와 전문가 정보 시범 서비스를 구현하였으며, 주요 연구결과는 재난안전정보 공유 플랫폼에 연계하여 재난 단계별 전문가 추천 및 서비스에 활용될 계획이다.

Science-based Industry which is future growth industry leading national competitiveness in knowledge-based society is highly science-dependent field when developing technologies. And highly science-based field is absolutely dependent on core scholarly papers. Due to researchers' need of academic papers related to developing technologies and advances of linking technologies, it is possible to link service between patents and scholarly papers. This paper's purpose is to describe on implementation linking service between EPO patent and papers that cited on search reports. First, it describe case study of other linking services. Second, it describes a kinds of data used in linking services. Lastly, it describe implementation of linking different kinds of contents (patents and papers) in KISTI.

As the IT and computer network technology is developed very rapidly, the quantity of digital contents is increased and disseminated more widely. The digital contents is generally expressed in 2 or 3 dimensional multimedia format and the visible human image that is taken from human body is very important because of its variety of usefulness. The KISTI(Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) is now constructing various Korean human informations such as visible Korean, digital Korean, human bone property and human models. These informations are accessable through the internet. However, these human images are not easily understandable for general users because they are specialized in medical image field and there is no detailed explanation data. In this study, we designed the annotation database and searching interface for KISTI's visible Korean database. This annotation database involved the detailed explanation and special note of visible Korean data and it can connect the image and text data of visible Korean with each other. By studying this database and interface design, the KISTI's visible Korean database is more easily accessable and understandable to general users and it can promote the usage of visible Korean data more widely.

The exponential increase of digital contents brought about the e-Challenge crisis to the librarians. How can all the e-resources be managed effectively? How can we detect all the broken links? How can we assist the users to the right resources? This paper concentrates on building CLICK(Cooperative Link Center in KOREA) as a knowledge compass by collecting diverse science & technology information and creating tight coupled links between information resources for reference linking and providing users with the optimal route for the resource per user. If the publishers, Abstract & Index DB, Searching Portal, Electronic Libraries, Full-text DB and Aggregator can be linked by using a standardized way through a CLICK, the service channels can be diversified. Users can select the channels without rein under according to a use purpose and conditions.

Hyperlink is a directly followable reference within a hypertext document. With a help of it, we can get information conveniently and save the cost for obtaining content in internet. KISTI(Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) applied the hyperlink to GTB(Global Trends Brief service). GTB gatehers quickly the latest information of science, technology and market which is necessary to policy maker, businessman and researcher. This report explained the method how applied hyperlink to GTB and showed the examples.

This study aims to find methods to improve the scientific literacy of the youth, which comprise the group who will lead the upcoming era of knowledge and science. To do this, the study focuses on improving the youth's understanding of science and their ability to utilize it. It is widely recognized that scientific literacy Is highly essential in this era of scientific revolution and innovations. Accordingly, various kinds of programs are being developed in Korea and other countries. In particular, 'Project 2061' is designed to enable a permanent learning system by improving problem-solving ability through the scientific process. This system plays an Important role In supporting the Americans' Pursuit of Increased literacy in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering. To improve the scientific literacy of young people, content development in relation with school courses as well as information services that arouse Interest and curiosity In the field of science is very important. In addition, It is necessary to develop a problem-solving program by stages. Further studies focusing on methods of improving scientific literacy of the youth are recommended.
