An Exploratory Study on the Impact of Contents Updates in Online Games (온라인 게임 콘텐츠 업데이트의 효과에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The objective of this research is to empirically analyze the impact of contents update or patch service in online game, being provided after delivery to correct faults and to improve performance of the game. Regression analysis is applied to the data set, where the weekly increase rate of playing times is dependant variable, and the time(week) and two types of contents updates are introduced as independent variables. Statistical results show that the time(week) negatively influences the weekly increase rate of playing times. But the impact of new contents generation and contents adjustment on the weekly increase rate of playing times is not statistically significant, implying that once online game is published, contents update has no significant impact on the playing times. Implications for game designs are provided as a conclusion.

  • This study is an empirical study on whether the interval of K-pop content updates and price changes consumer purchasing intentions for domestic fandom commerce platforms that turn their profit structure online and strengthen fandom-based marketing to cope with changes in the digital environment. FGI and a survey was conducted using a conjoint analysis designed to confirm the difference in price elasticity according to the content update interval. As a result, the price elasticity of K-pop content was found to be an inelastic characteristic, and the change in price elasticity according to the content update interval was not statistically significant. This study provides basic data to be used to establish a marketing strategy for the fandom commerce market that will grow in the future.

  • We designed and implemented an automatic update system of 네비게이션 contents. Currently car users are updating map contents of their 네비게이션 system by using SD memory card. In the implemented system, map contents are downloaded via WI-FI internet access while served in a gas station. To prevent free rider at gas stations, we adopted authentication mechanism based on MAC address.

  • The rapid use of Facebook among colleges, the present study was to explore the motivations of college owned Facebook among college students. The factor analysis The factor analysis showed that the college students perceived that the intimacy, update of college information, sharing daily lives, use of time, seeking useful information are important motivations when they use college Facebook. The extracted factors such as emotional intimacy, information update and sharing daily lives also play significant variables to affect Facebook effectiveness such as "like" and "sharing others." The results suggest that Facebook managers need to use college Facebook as a social medium not by one way communication medium to the college students.

  • To develop the broadcasting application for DMB, the programmers have to aggregate the content. In this case of content such as news, it would be hard to provide successively updated content. This paper introduces a creation system which can automatically create the news application for data broadcasting on DMB based on the web news content updated immediately. The designed creation system aggregates the news content using RSS based XML and produces the news application by transcoding the web content which can be applied on DMB.

  • The roadmap DB update for unknown roads is a very important factor for car navigation systems. In this paper, we propose a cloud computing based roadmap generation method for use between heterogeneous navigation system for unknown roads. While the drivers drive on unknown roads, the proposed method extracts the road attribute information, and then generates the metadata in an XML format that is available for the heterogeneous navigation systems in a cloud environment. The metadata is proposed to be used as a replacement for conventional proprietary roadmap formats which used by roadmap providers, which is efficient for heterogeneous navigation system providers in a cloud computing environment. Then, this metadata is provided to the roadmap DB providers through the cloud computing interfaces. With the proposed method, the roadmap DB providers update the own roadmap DB for navigation systems in real time. Therefore, the proposed method can reduce the costs of an actual traveling test and the maintenance for the roadmap DB provides. Thus, the cloud-oriented road map generation method can more efficiently update the unknown road information.

  • 최근 데이터 방송은 새로운 콘텐츠의 부재로 어려움을 겪고 있지만 사용자 중심의 서비스와 플랫폼을 지향하는 웹 2.0의 개념과 기술의 도입을 통해 콘텐츠 활성화에 기여할 것으로 보인다. 그에 대한 기대와 요구가 있으나 구체적인 구현 사례는 존재하지 않으므로 이에 본 논문에서는 웹 2.0으로 각광받고 있는 RSS를 통해 웹에서 지속적으로 업데이트가 이루어지는 최신 정보를 별도의 수집과정 없이 데이터 방송서비스를 생성하는 시스템을 개발했다. 지상파 DMB 데이터 방송의 경우 실시간으로 업데이트가 이루어지는 콘텐츠의 경우 지속적인 반영이 어렵지만 RSS를 통해 콘텐츠를 생성함으로써 저작 단계 및 시간을 줄여 보다 웹의 다양한 내용의 최신 정보를 사용자에게 제공할 수 있다.
