The void PC slab has a structurally reasonable cross-section by forming the hollow section of the neutral axis that is unnecessary for bending behavior. Domestic PC factories have introduced automation equipment to produce hollow PC slabs, and are achieving hollow sections through inserts. However, since the excessive initial investment cost of the PC factory is the main factor in the increase in production cost, other alternatives are needed. Therefore, in this study, when producing hollow PC slab members, by using a rubber tube as a formwork to form an internal hollow space, it is intended to contribute to securing productivity through molding various hollow shapes, making it larger, lightweight, and enabling rapid production. To implement a hollow PC slab using a rubber tube mold, the shape of a hollow cross-section in which the tube is combined was implemented by considering the shape of the rubber tube first. In addition, to secure the concrete quality of the hollow part, the finish properties of the rubber tube mold and concrete were evaluated, and the hollow PC production process was established.

This study conducted acute oral toxicity test and acute dermal toxicity test to evaluate the toxicity of lightweight and high-strength cement composite containing carbon nanotube. It was compared with the toxicity of ordinary concrete that did not contain carbon nanotube. Both lightweight and high-strength cement composite and ordinary concrete were categorized in GHS category 5 as a result of acute oral toxicity test. In addition, no toxic symproms were observed during the acute dermal toxicity test in all specimens, concluding that those were judged to correspond to GHS category 5/unclassified.
Parametric study has been conducted to calculate the capacity of vacuum pump system that will be used to maintain the pressure of the tube system under atmosphere level. Recently many railroad researchers pay attention to the tube train system as one of the super high speed transportation system. To achieve the ultra super high speed, the inside of tube system should be maintained the low pressure level. In the low pressure environment, it is well known that air resistance of train is drastically decreased. Vacuum pump system will be used to make the low pressure level of tube system, exhaust the leakage air and supplement additional vacuum pumping. Qualitative and quantitative study has been conducted to review the effects of major parameters concerned with the capacity of vacuum pump system. As a results of these studies, we get the lump capacity of vacuum pump for various parameters. These results can be used to analyse the effects of the reduction of air resistance.

In this study, steel and FRP jackets are used to confine concrete cylinders. The FRP jacket behaviors compositely with concrete since there is bonding between them. However, the used steel jacket in this study do not behavior compositely with concrete since there is not an adhesive between them. The steel jackets are attached by external forces and the welding. This study suggests the measuring method of the axial strain for the confined concrete cylinders showing noncomposite behavior with the jackets and the correcting method of the measured strain for the composite-behavior jackets. For the noncomposite-behavior steel jacket, the axial strain of the steel surface does not represent the axial strain of the concrete inside. Also, a compressormeter can not be used. Thus, the two rigid plates at the top and bottom of a cylinder are placed and the distance of the two plates are measured and used for estimating the axial strain of the concrete. For the composite-behavior FRP jacket, the vertical strain measured on the FRP surface can be used for estimating the axial strain of the concrete. However, the vertical strain on the FRP surface contains the tensile strain due to the bulge of the concrete and, thus, the tensile strain should be corrected from the vertical strain. The corrected verticals strains compared with the measured strain or a existing constitute model; the result is satisfactory. The uncorrected stress-strain curves have the potential to under estimate the ductile behavior and the energy-dissipation-capacity of the composite-behavior FRP jackets.
In recent years, the geotextile tubes filled with dredged material have been used in dike and breakwater construction for a number of projects around the world, and their use in this field is growing very fast. One of the most attractive advantages of geotextile tube technology is can be use the in-situ filling materials by hydraulic pumping, it can be also established lower costs and fast construction than other technology. Geotextiles form one of the two largest groups of geosynthetics and it is commonly made by two major types of polymer material(Polypropylene, Polyester). The objective of this paper is to examine several issues associated with drainage function and feasibility of geotextile tube structure such as filtering efficiency, dewatering efficiency, and filling process with polymer materials. Based on the laboratory filtering test and in-situ tests, polypropylene goetextile is more effective for drainage function of geotextile tube technology.
With several different dosages of multi-walled CNTs which was 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5% of the weight of binder, the fluidity in fresh CNT cement composites, as well as the strength and strength development with age of the hardened composites were investigated in this experimental study. The experimental results from flow test indicated that the increase in the dosage of CNTs badly impacted on the workability of fresh composites, and the results from rheological measurements presented the decrease in plastic viscosity and the increase in yield stress according to the amount of CNTs. In addition, the thixotrophy in the flow curve obtained from the rheology test was observed more noticeably in the composites with higher dosage of CNTs. With the experiments on the strength properties, the improvement of both compressive and tensile strengths with the increase of CNTs dosage could be obtained. Moreover, early strength development by adding CNTs was found when it was compared with plain cementious matrix without CNT.

Tubular bridge rail was developed to restrain and redirect a 14ton van-type truck. The developed bridge rail permits better visibility than concrete safety-shape bridge rail, and it has better structural adequacy than the existing steel and aluminum bridge rails in Korea. The new bridge rail consists of a tubular thrie beam(TTB) rail and a steel guard rail, which are connected to composite posts. The TTB shape provides both better containment of diverse bumper heights and more tight fit between the ends of bridge rail and roadside guardrails than the existing bridge rail sections currently used in Korea. Making composite post by filling concrete inside the steel pipe of the same size as are used for the roadside guardrail post was found to be more efficient in increasing the stiffness and ultimate strength than simply increasing the size of the steel pipe. The system was crash-tested for the impact condition of 14ton-80km/h-$15^{\circ}$, and it satisfied all evaluation criteria set forth in NCHRP Report 350 for a Test Level 4 safety appurtenance. Acceptable performances were obtained in computer simulations for the impact condition of S2.

In winter, the excessive use of deicing salt deteriorates concrete pavement durability. To reduce the amount of deicing salt used, phase-change materials (PCMs) potentially offer an alternative way to melt snow through their latent heat storage characteristics. In this research, thermal energy storage concrete was developed by using PCM-impregnated expanded clay as 50 % replacement to normal aggregate by volume. In addition, to improve the thermal efficiency of PCM lightweight aggregate (PCM-LWA)-incorporated concrete, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were incorporated in proportions of 0.10 %, 0.15 %, and 0.20 % by binder weight. Compressive strength testing and programmed thermal cycling were performed to evaluate the mechanical and thermal responses of the PCM-LWA concrete. Results showed a significant strength reduction of 54 % due to the PCM-LWA; however, the thermal performance of the PCM-LWA concrete was greatly improved with the addition of MWCNTs. Thermal test results showed that 0.10 % MWCNT-incorporated concrete had high thermal fatigue resistance as well as uniform heat flow, whereas specimens with 0.15 % and 0.20 % MWCNT content had a reduced thermal response due to supercooling when the ambient temperature was varied between -5℃ and 10℃.
