Suggestion for Concrete Strength Grade Using Ultrasonic Velocity for Tunnel Lining Concrete (터널 라이닝 콘크리트의 초음파 속도를 이용한 강도 등급 제안)

  • This study implicates a quality evaluation technique for lining concrete using the ultra-sonic technique and proposed a classification for quality evaluation. From the comparison of test results, an improved result comparable to the results by destructive test can be obtained by using averaged transmission velocity of velocities obtained at pure space and central space between two sensors of ultrasonic tester. It is also shown that strength evaluation by ultra-sonic method is not reliable and an evaluation according to the transmission velocities can be improved method for the strength evaluation of concrete.

터널 콘크리트 라이닝 균열저감 방안 연구

  • 최근 터널에서 균열, 누수 등과 같은 현상이 많이 발생하고 있어 터널의 안정성 및 균열보수, 미관, 고객의 공용 중 심리적 불안감을 조성한다는 것을 쉽게 찾을 수 있다. 고속국도 제30호선 상주~안동간은 16개소/12km의 터널이 설계되어 있어 터널의 비중이 크다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 터널 라이닝 균열발생 원인분석 및 기존사례 조사를 통하여 균열발생 최소화 방안을 검토 및 터널 라이닝의 유해한 균열방지를 위하여 공사관계자(발주처, 감리사, 시공사, 하도급사 등) 의견수렴을 통한 여러 가지 대책공법을 제안하였으며 제안공법의 효율성을 판단하기 위해 고속국도 제30호선 상주~안동간 제 8공구의 단촌 2터널, 단촌 3터널에 시험시공을 실시하여 각 공법별 균열율 및 시공성, 경제성을 고려하여 결과를 분석하고 최적의 공법을 파악, 전파하는데 그 목적이 있다.

Stability Analysis of Concrete Liner installed in a Compressed Air Storage Tunnel (압축공기 저장용 터널에 설치된 콘크리트 라이닝의 안정성 해석)

  • The stability assessment of a concrete liner of a compressed air storage tunnel should be performed by an approach which is different from that commonly used for the liners of road tunnels, since the liner is exposed to high air pressure. In this study, the stability analysis method for the liner of compressed air storage tunnel is proposed based on the elastic and elasto-plastic solutions of the thick-walled cylinder problem. In case of elastic analysis, the yield initiation condition at the inner boundary is considered as the failure condition of the liner, while the condition which results in the extension of yielding zone to a certain depth is taken as a failure indicator of the liner in the elasto-plastic analysis taking Mohr-Coulomb criterion. The application of the proposed method revealed that the influence of the relative magnitude of boundary loads on the stability of liner is considerable. In particular, noting that the estimation of the outer boundary load may be relatively difficult, it is thought that the precise prediction of outer boundary load is very important in the analysis. Accordingly, the emphasis is put on the selection of the liner installation time, which may govern the magnitude of outer boundary load.

Numerical study on structural reinforced effects of concrete lining by spray-applied waterproofing membrane (차수용 박층 멤브레인 설치에 따른 콘크리트 라이닝의 구조적 보강효과에 관한 수치해석 연구)

  • A spray-applied waterproofing membrane which consists of polymers has a relatively higher constructability and adhesion than the conventional sheet-type waterproofing materials. Additionally, the spray-applied waterproofing membrane generally shows a waterproofing ability as a composite structure with shotcrete or concrete lining. Because its purpose is waterproofing at the structure, structural effects were not well reported than waterproofing abilities. In this study, structural effects of the membrane-attached concrete lining were evaluated using 3-point bending test by the numerical method. From the analysis, a load-displacement behavior of the concrete lining and fracturing energy after yielding were compared with various conditions. Consequently, concrete lining with spray-applied waterproofing membrane shows higher flexural strength and fracturing energy than the single-layer concrete lining.

  • Fire intensity in tunnel fire is very severe, which might cause the spalling on the surface of shotcrete and concrete lining exposed to the heat as well as rapidly-reducing stress due to heat transfer by steel material such as anchor embedded in tunnel which plays the critical role in securing the stability of the tunnel. In this study, a fire test to identity the heat intensity(Modifired Hydrocarbon Curve) and the fire resistance of steel materials embedded as parameters, was carried out. And the evaluation to identify the thermal damage, which was based on critical temperature range for thermal damage of steel materials determined according to the road tunnel fire resistance standard established by ITA(International Tunneling Association).

  • To investigate the safety and stability of a concrete lining, numerous studies have been conducted over the years and several methods have been developed. Most signal processing techniques of NDT have been based on Fourier analysis. However, the application of Fourier analysis to analyze recorded vibrational signal shows results in the frequency domain only, and it is not enough to analyze transient waves precisely. In this study, Wavelet theory was employed for the analysis of non-stationary wave induced by mechanical impact on tunnel concrete lining. The Wavelet transform of transient signals provides a method for mapping the frequency spectrum as a function of time. To verify the availability of Wavelet transform as a time-frequency analysis tool, model experiments have been conducted and the thickness of the concrete lining was estimated based on the proposed theory. From this study, it was found that the contour map by Wavelet transform provides more distinct results than the power spectrum by Fourier transform and it was also found that Wavelet transform was also an effective tool for the analysis of dispersive waves in tunnel concrete linings.

Correlation analysis of traffic and crack in concrete lining (교통량과 콘크리트 라이닝 균열 상관관계 분석)

  • An analysis of covariance and Pearson correlation coefficient were performed to identify the relationship between both variables: traffic volume and crack. For this, it was carried out to analyse 216 tunnel inspection/diagnosis results with respect to the traffic. As a result, it has been proven that traffic volume and cracks in concrete linings are highly correlated. Therefore, it is recommended to consider traffic volume in planning of preemptive maintenance such as crack repair, etc.

A study on the treatment of external water pressure for the water pressure tunnel at the structural analysis of concrete lining (압력도수터널 콘크리트 라이닝 구조 계산시 외수압 처리에 관한 연구)

  • When the structural analysis is performed for the concrete lining of the water pressure tunnel, many parameters are considered such as relaxed ground loads, internal water pressure, external water pressure, the shrinkage of the concrete lining, grouting pressure, etc. But, there are no standards and manuals for the structural analysis for the concrete lining of the water pressure tunnel. Above all, the external water pressure has an much effect on the stability of tunnel. So, in case that permeability of ground is large, the external water pressure should be decreased by installation of weep hole, or reinforced ground by ground improvement grouting should be pressed by the external water pressure instead. But, when weep hole is installed to reduce the external water pressure, the many problems may me occurred. Thus, reasonable approach for treatment of the external water pressure is necessary if weep hole is not installed. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze design cases and studies for treatment of the external water pressure in performing structural analysis for the concrete lining of the water pressure tunnel, and to find reasonable method for tunnel lining modeling which is the treatment of the external water pressure according to permeability of ground and consequently the design of ground improvement grouting.
