An improved model for predicting the reinforced concrete element behavior under dynamic strain rates was developed using the layer modeling technique. The developed strain rate sensitive model for axial/flexural analysis of reinforced concrete elements was uses to predict the test results, performed at different loading rates, and the predictions were reasonable. The developed analysis technique was used to study the loading rate sensitivity of reinforced concrete beams and columns with different geometry and material properties. Two design formulas for computing the loading rate dependent axial and flexural strengths of reinforced concrete sections were also suggested.

This study was performed as the first step of concrete materiaI research(concrete test program)of Lotte Super Tower column shortening research. Total 18 month's creep and shrinkage results were obtained from the test so far. The analysis were conducted using those results by design strength and loading age, and then validated model and equation were proposed from the result analysis and regression analysis. AC I209R Model, Bazant-Baweja B3 Model, CEB MC99 Model, & GL2000 Model, were employed for this study. The main analysis was completed on the total shrinkage strain and compliance.

This study aims at predicting structural behaviors of RC (Reinforced Concrete) beams retrofitted with hybrid FRPs (Fiber Reinforced Polymers). Toward this goal, structural analysis for the RC beams retrofitted with hybrid FRPs are performed and validated using existing experimental data. For the analysis, failure models due to debonding of FRPs and concrete separation are implemented within FE (Finite Element) model, based on Smith and Teng, model, and Teng and Yao model, respectively. Nonlinear material and geometrical effects are also included in the analysis. The suggested modeling approaches are able to predict structural behaviors of RC beams retrofitted with hybrid FRPs similar to the experimental data, however, a numerical model needs to be developed in order to predict failure strength of RC beams retrofitted with hybrid FRPs accurately.

A model for the nonlinear flexural analysis of extruded Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) panel reinforced concrete (RC) composite slab has been newly presented. From direct tensile test, ECC panel has been modeled to have the high-ductile tensile behavior after cracking. The developed model was compared with bending test results of two specimens, a conventional RC slab and a ECC panel RC composite slab. The predicted results were well patched with the experimental results, and the ECC panel RC composite slab system had advantages in crack control and improving flexural load-carrying capacity and deformation-capacity.
The objective of this study is to provide the information on the small-scale model mix proportion when the behavior of prototype concrete pavement is studied through small-scale model experiments. However it is difficult to obtain a model material to simulate the prototype concrete by scaling the individual components according to the laws of similitude. In this paper, the stress-strain behavior in uniaxial compression is used as a means to correlate material similitude between the prototype and the model concrete. Based on the results of experiments, we compared the stress-strain curves of prototype and model concrete mixes using a nondimensional basis. In order to simulate the stress-stain curves of prototype concrete, it is important that various mix proportions of model concrete selected properly which are varied from aggregate grading, cement-aggregate and sand-aggregate ratio.
Models to predict the ultimate strength of simply supported or continuous deep beams with web openings are proposed. The derived equations are based on upper-bound theorem. The concrete is assumed as a perfectly plastic material obeying the modified Coulomb failure criteria with zero tension cutoff. Reinforcing bar is considered as elastic-perfectly plastic material and its stress is calculated from the limiting principal compressive strain of concrete. The governing failure mechanisms based on test results are idealized as rigid moving blocks separated by a hyperbolic yield line. The effective compressive strength of concrete is calculated from the formula proposed by Vecchio and Collins. Comparisons with existing test results are performed, and they show good agreement.
This paper describes a proposal for average crack width and immediate deflection calculation in structural concrete members. The model is mathematically derived from actual bond stressslip relationships and tension stiffening effect between reinforcement and the surrounding concrete, and the actual strains of steel and concrete are integrated respectively along the embedded length between the adjacent cracks so as to obtain the difference in the axial elongation. With these, a model for average crack width and immediate deflection in reinforced concrete flexural members are proposed utilizing difference in the axial elongation and average steel strain and moment-curvature relationship with taking account of bond characteristics. The model is applied to the test specimens available in literatures, and the crack width and deflections predicted by the proposal equation in this study are closed to the experimentally measured data compared the current code provisions.
The structural behavior of continuous reinforced concrete deep beams is mainly controlled by the mechanical relationships associated with the shear span-to-effective depth ratio, flexural reinforcement ratio, load and support conditions, and material properties. In this study, a simple indeterminate strut-tie model which reflects characteristics of the complicated structural behavior of the continuous deep beams is presented. In addition, the reaction and load distribution ratios defined as the fraction of load carried by an exterior support of continuous deep beam and the fraction of load transferred by a vertical truss mechanism, respectively, are proposed to help structural designers for the analysis and design of continuous reinforced concrete deep beams by using the strut-tie model approaches of current design codes. In the determination of the load distribution ratio, a concept of balanced shear reinforcement ratio requiring a simultaneous failure of inclined concrete strut and vertical steel tie is introduced to ensure a ductile shear failure of reinforced concrete deep beams, and the primary design variables including the shear span-to-effective depth ratio, flexural reinforcement ratio, and concrete compressive strength are implemented after thorough parametric numerical analyses. In the companion paper, the validity of the presented model and load distribution ratio was examined by applying them in the evaluation of the ultimate strength of multiple continuous reinforced concrete deep beams, which were tested to failure.

This is the experimental and analysis study on the thermal distribution, structural behavior and residual strength of high strength concrete members subjected to fire. The parameters are strength of concrete, cover thickness, loading state and exposure time to fire. The ISO 834 standard fire curve is used to test. The material and structural property of concrete at high temperature are proposed, also.

Crack control is essential to increase the durability of concrete significantly. Healing of crack can be controlled by rehydration of unreacted clinkers at the crack surface. In this paper, by comparing the results of isothermal calorimetry test and regression analysis, the Parrot & Killoh's cement hydration model was verified and clink er hydration model was proposed. The composition and quantification of hydration products were simulated by combining kinematic hydration model and thermodynamic model. Hydration simulation was conducted using the verified and proposed hydration model, and the simulation was performed by the substitution rate of clink er. The type and quantity of the final hydration product and healing product were predicted and, in addition, the optimal cementitious material of self-healing concrete was selected using the proposed hydration model.
