This study suggested shear strength prediction model for retrofitted single-layered RC squat wall by providing column element as additional boundary element. This model revised existing shear strength prediction model of shear wall to consider detail and shear deformation capacity of column by assuming the length that concentrated shear deformation of the column is occurred. It was able to suggest additional compatibility condition related to shear strain of retrofitted of retrofitted shear wall at the ultimate state by using this length. Therefore, this study proposed a flow chart for predicting shear strength of the retrofitted shear wall considering this additional condition. Moreover, this study also proposed a method for predicting initial stiffness of the retrofitted shear wall by transforming the wall's resisting mechanism against to lateral load to a single diagonal strut mechanism. The proposed methods can predict shear strength and initial stiffness of not only the retrofitted shear wall of this study, also infilled RC shear wall in RC frame.

In the present study, hollow precast concrete wall (PC Double Wall) for staircase construction was developed. Comparing the conventional walls, the PC Double Wall can be reduced the lift weight using hollow core and improves the integrity between the PC members. The cross-section and re-bar details of the PC Double Wall were developed considering precast concrete manufacturing, constructability, and the structural safety. Particularly, a form system was developed to manufacture thin and hollow core PC wall efficiently. A mock-up test for a staircase using the PC Double wall was performed to verify the constructability and integrity of the PC walls. The test result verified that joint deformation and cracking did not occur as showing good constructability.

In areas where excavation works are carried out, it is very important to select a retaining wall method to minimize ground water level and ground subsidence changes. In this regard, the use of Secant Pile Wall(SPW) method, which can complement the disadvantages of the CIP method, is gradually domestic increasing for the construction of retaining wall method. This study investigated the design elements of the SPW method and the interrelationship between the structural stability factors of the wall. The design elements for the retaining method are the overlap length between piles, pile diameter, and the specifications of the H-Beam specifications, while the structural stability factors of the wall are the bending stress, shear stress, horizontal displacement, and concrete strength. The study results showed that the pile diameter and H-Beam specifications have a significant impact on the capacity of the H-Beam, the overlap length and pile diameter have a significant impact on the horizontal displacement, and the pile diameter and H-Beam specifications have a significant impact on the required strength of the concrete.
This paper describes the experimental results of insulated concrete sandwich wall panels (CSWP) with corrugated glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) shear connectors under in-plane shear loading. Corrugated GFRP shear connectors were used to improve the thermal property of insulated CSWP and to achieve composite action between the interior and exterior concrete wall panels. Test specimens were consist of three concrete panels with two insulation layers between concrete panels and middle concrete panels was loaded in the direction of gravity. To evaluate the effects of insulation types (extruded polystyrene, XPSS and expanded polystyrene, EPS), shear connector pitch (300 and 400 mm) and width (10 and 15 mm) on in-plane shear behavior of insulted CSWP, failure mode and shear flow-average relative slip relationship of specimens were investigated. Test results indicate that the bond stress between concrete panel and insulation is considerable initially. Especially in case of insulated CSWP without shear connector, initial stiffness of CSWP with XPSS is superior to that of CSWP with EPS. The shear connector's contribution to in-plane shear performance of insulated CSWP depends on the type of insulation.

In this paper, the analysis of impact damage behavior of a reinforced concrete structure that undergoes both a shock impulsive loading and an impact loading due to the air blast induced from an explosion is performed. Firstly, a pair of multiple loadings are selected from the scenario that an imaginary explosion accident is assumed. The RC structures strengthened with advanced composite materials (ACM) are considered as a scheme for retrofitting RC wall structures subjected to multiple explosive loadings and then the evaluation of the resistant performance against them is presented in comparison with the result of the evaluation of a RC structure without a retrofit. Also, in order to derive the result of the analysis similar to that of real explosion experiments, which require the vast investment and expense for facilities, the constitutive equation and the equation of state (EOS) which can describe the real impact and shock phenomena accurately are included with them. In addition, the numerical simulations of two concrete structures are achieved using AUTODYN-3D, an explicit analysis program, in order to prove the retrofit performance of a ACM-strengthened RC wall structure.

In order to measure corrosion level of reinforcement rebar in RC structures, non-destructive test methods which are concrete surface current density method and infrared thermographic technique were employed to measure corrosion levels. Experimental test parameters were various levels of corrosion states(0, 1, 3, 5, 7% of weight loss) and concrete cover depth(30 mm, 40 mm) and two different reinforcing rebar arrangements. The larger amount of concrete surface current density, the higher corrosion level in reinforcement rebar. The laboratory conditions which are ambient temperature and humidity have negligible effect on the infrared thermographical data. After analysis of current density and temperature distribution from concrete surface, corrosion level of reinforcement rebar embedded in concrete can be measured qualitatively based on the amount of electric current and heat flux.

Practicing engineers and researchers need computational tools that estimate accurately the cyclic response of RC walls, and in particular, force and deformation capacities and their materials strains. So this paper describes a nonlinear truss modeling approach for reinforced concrete walls, or in general, for plane stress reinforced concrete elements subjected to cyclic reversals. Nonlinear vertical, horizontal, and diagonal truss elements are used to represent concrete and steel reinforcement. The wall having aspect ratio of 1.2 was chosen to be compared with the experimental results. Here, four types of main diagonal member models and three types of diagonal members models were applied to find out more accurate results of analysis.
Buckling of surface plates is an important limit state in Steel-Plate Concrete (SC) walls under axial compression. The surface plates may be anchored to concrete using connectors of studs or tie-bars. In this paper, the effects of studs and tie-bars on buckling of surface plates were evaluated by conducting tests. Experiments have three types of connectors; all studs, all tie-bars, and the combination of studs and tie-bars. Also, experiments have the various ratios of stud or tie-bar spacing to surface plate thickness. The experimental investigation shows that the buckling shape and strength of the surface plate of SC wall with the combination of studs and tie-bars have good agreements with that of the surface plate of SC walls with all studs or all tie-bars.

This paper presents an experimental study to investigate enhanced performance of the masonry walls strengthened in shear and ductility using honeycomb steel mesh. The performance of masonry walls strengthened with steel mesh will compare with unreinforced masonry walls to show the performance of reinforced masonry walls. According to the experiment, it is expected that this system is effective to enhance the shear strength and ductility of the masonry walls.
