  • In this research, model tests for in-situ Top-Base Foundation are carried out in other to investigate the load delivering mechanism and the incremental effect of bearing capacity. According to the result of model tests, the load-settlement curves of both in-situ Top-Base(In-situ TBF) and Precast Top-Base Foundation(PC-TBF) showed similar results in term of the ground movement and effect of bearing capacity. Also, the range of vertical stresses delivered into ground was decreased with Top-Base method regarding other types foundations.

  • It is well practised in the field of concrete engineering that the effort of improving the low slumped concrete and uplifting the quality of the soft concrete by adopting the superplasticizer. In this paper, an attempt is made to find out the optimum mix design of the superplasticized concrete with an unit weight of cement 400 kg and the range of $19{\pm}1cm$ of slump by variatlng the sand percentage, unit water content and the dosage of superplasticizer. As a result, the author obtained the basic idea on the optimum mix design and strength of superplasticized concrete. On the other hand, it is also considered during the research the method of preventing the slump loss of the superplasticized concrete due to the delayed time after concrete mixing.

  • This study is a pioneer investigation to enhance the insulation capacity of the conventional aerated concrete using hydrophobic aerogels. As the main test parameters, aerogel content varied from 0% to 40% of the foam volume. Test results showed that the compressive strength of aerated concrete containing aerogels was lower by 17%~34% than that of the conventional aerated concrete. In addition, the effect of the aerogels on reducing thermal conductivity of aerated concrete is insignificant because of the partial condensation and abnormal distribution of the hydrophobic aerogels. Hence, further hydrophilic treatment for the surface of aerogels is recommended to minimize the decrease in compressive strength and enhance the insulation capacity of aerated concrete.

  • This study carried out to evaluate the hydration heat analysis and fundamental characteristics such as air content, slump and compressive strength for field application of low heat concrete with premixed cement. The results of experiment show that low heat concrete with premixed cement have sufficient performances on the workability and compressive strength. In addition, hydration heat analysis shows that low heat concrete with premixed cement make sure of target thermal cracking index. Therefore, it is desirable to apply the low heat concrete with premixed cement on pier foundation-column.
