Study on Stable Use of Stainless EAF Oxidizing Slag as Fine Aggregate of Concrete (스테인리스 전기로 산화슬래그의 콘크리트용 잔골재 활용방안 검토)

  • Recently, more focus is shift to imbalances in aggregate market supply and demand and an exhaustion of natural resources. In this situation, Electric arc furnace oxidizing slag (EAF Slag) has high application possibility as aggregate for concrete due to similar property with general aggregate. In this study, We've got the plan to assure the chemical stability of EAF Slag, and then experimentally tested the mechanical performance and durability for the fine aggregate used EAF Slag. On this test result, we suggest the application plan. At the result of this study, it shows that EAF slag would reduce the surface defect such as pop-out due to natural aging for the fixed hour and adjustment the grain size of EAF Slag. And mechanical performance and durability according to the replacement rate of concrete service, were revealed more than equal or equal compare to general aggregate. Hereafter, quality control must precede not to impede the beauty of concrete surface as assure the safety for aging and processing. And, to establish the environmental resource recycling system for by-products of steel, it should be made development of various application and guideline of quality control for the EAF slag aggregate. Moreover, it must be constantly studied all kind of engineering performance and durability for related to this study.

  • 갱폼이라 함은 주로 고층 아파트에서와 같이 평면상 상ㆍ하부 동일 단면 구조물에서 외부벽체 거푸집과 거푸집 설치ㆍ해체작업 및 미장ㆍ치장(견출) 작업발판용 케이지(cage)를 일체로 제작하여 사용하는 대형 거푸집을 말한다. 여기서 케이지는 갱폼에서 외부벽체 거푸집 부분을 제외한 부분으로 거푸집 설치ㆍ해체작업, 후속 미장, 치장(견출) 등 작업을 안전하게 수행하는데 필요한 작업발판, 안전난간 등으로 구성되어 갱폼 거푸집에 결합된 부분이며, 상부 케이지는 갱품 케이지의 4단 작업발판 중 거푸집 설치ㆍ해체작업용으로 사용되는 상부 2단 작업발판 구성 부분이고, 하부 케이지는 미장ㆍ치장(견출) 작업용으로 사용되는 하부 2단 작업발판 구성 부분을 말한다.(중략)

An Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete Pavement (하이브리드 섬유로 보강된 콘크리트 포장의 역학적 특성 실험연구)

  • Cement concrete pavement offers long-term service life and excellent applicability for heavy traffic. It is easier to purchase and more durable and economical than the asphalt pavement. However, it is difficult to repair and rehabilitate compared to the asphalt pavement when it comes to the maintenance problem. Since the crack is the main reason of the damage of concrete pavement, it is necessary to control the early and long-term crack in the concrete pavement. In this experimental study, the basic performance tests have been carried out to investigate the effect of hybrid fibers which were composed of micro fibers with small diameter and high aspect ratio and macro fibers with large diameter and low aspect ratio on the concrete pavement, in which lower water ratio and larger aggregates were used compared to the general concrete mixture. The test results showed that the flexural strength and toughness of concrete pavement mixture have been increased with the use of hybrid fibers in the concrete pavement mixture, even though they were less effective compared to the normal concrete mixture. It was found that the hybrid fibers were effective to control the early shrinkage of the concrete pavement which is one of the main reasons of the damage in the concrete pavement.

  • We can reuse the portion of simple reclamation and the construction by-products. Until now, we have discarded concrete by simply throwing away or dumping in underground. Therefore, we attempted to propose the technical directions for the reuse of waste concrete as the recycled concrete aggregates and concrete structural materials. As a testing result, It is reasonable that standards are substitution of recycled aggregates under 30%, maximum steel ratio, under 70% of balanced steel ratio, under shear span ratio 0.2 for deep beam criteria for safety and Zsutty's equation is reasonable for estimation of factored shear strength

  • This study examined the field applicability of promoted high durability concrete (PHDC) developed for improving the chloride penetration resistance of coastal landfill underground structures. PHDC was found superior to conventional concrete containing slag in watertightness, crack resistance, and chloride penetration resistance required in coastal landfill underground structures. It was also more workable in field application, and easier to control the quality. This study investigated the strength development, crack resistance, and chloride penetration resistance of PHDC, and performed life evaluation of underground concrete structures of coastal landfill using the Life 365 program.

  • This paper is an experimental study of the chemical resistance of mortar which contains silica sand particles. The possible use of silica sand particles in the future as an admixture for improving chemical resistance of mortar is examined in mortar model experiments. The possibility of using mortar model its prediction models for the chemical resistance of concrete is examined. The results obtained are as follows. Since the experimental results from the chemical resistance tests based on the kinds and the amount of replaced admixture are similar to those from the concrete. mortar model could be used as a prediction model of chemical resistance of concrete.

  • Pozzolan is to improve the strength and the durability of concrete as a result of the pozzolanic reaction, Broadly speaking, pozzolanic materials can be artificial materials, such as slica fume and fly ash, and natural material, such as rice husk ash, clay, volcanic ash, clayish pozzolan. Hwangtoh is a mineral which belongs to a group of matakaolin, especially halloysite, and the main elements is SiO$_2$, Al$_2$O$_3$, Fe$_2$O$_3$. The purpose of this study is to examine the application of Hwangtoh for the concrete admixtures, the composition of this study is shown as follows. Chapter I is analysis for properties of concrete as the kinds of admixture, and Chapter H is analysis for properties of concrete as the replacement ratio of activated Hwangtoh. As a result of this study, Hwangtoh is found to have high practical use as pozzolanic material, and the pertinent range of replacement ratios of Hwangtoh on cement are 10∼20 %.

  • 폐쇄 폐콘크리트를 재활용한 재생콘크리트의 강도특성을 천연골재를 사용한 일반콘크리트와 비교하였다. 동결융해 처리수의 압축강도와 3점휨 재하시험하의 변형율을 측정하였다. 재생콘크리트는 동결융해 처리 후 압축강도 보존율이 더 높았다. 재생콘크리트는 또한 높은 변형율과 처짐에 민감함을 보였으나 파괴와 관련된 다른 성질들은 일반콘크리트와 유사하거나 더 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 폐콘크리트를 구조용 콘크리트 제조에 재 사용이 가능할 것으로 보여진다. 그러나 실제 사용을 위하여는 콘크리트에 있어서 중요한 성질인 압축강도가 더 증진되어야 하며 최대 변형율도 보다 자세히 점검되어야 한다.

  • 콘크리트는 국내 건설 구조재료에 있어 강재와 더불어 중요한 건설재료로서, 특히 경제발전이 가속화되기 시작한 1960년대 후반 이후 사회간접자본의 확충과 1970 ~ 1980년대의 경제 성장기에 대부분의 구조물 축조에 사용되었다 그러나, 짧은 기간에 걸쳐 많은 구조물을 양산하고 이들을 유지 관리하는 것에 소홀하여 20~30년이 경과한 현 시점에서 설계 및 시공의 부실과 외부 환경의 변화 등에 따라 급속한 노후가 진행되고 있으며 콘크리트 구조체가 적정한 수명을 다하지 못한 채 사용금지 되거나 철거의 대상이 되고 있다.(중략)

  • This study is aimed for reusing the mine wastes as aggregates for concrete. In this part, the test results by analyzing the several properties in case of reusing the mine waste as mortar and concrete aggregates show that compressive strength has the similar value, although there are a little differences according to the mines and producing areas.
