  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the properties of composite systems using polymer cement and epoxy resins for waterproofing and anti-corrosion to concrete structures such as water supply facilities and sewage-works. For the waterproofing and anti-corrosion of concrete structures, there can be required various properties such as absorption capacity and water permeability, adhesion and tensile strength, hair crack-resistance, impact-resistance, repeated low and high temperature test and chemical resistance, soundness for drinking water, soundness for drinking water and etc. In this study these engineering properties of composite systems using polymer-modified mortar and epoxy resins were examined and could be confirmed to satisfy the guidelines of KS. Especially, it was turn out that the adhesion properties was excellent and high crack-resistance up to 1.49 mm will be perform.

Durability Evaluation of Inorganic-Impregnated Concrete Exposed to Long-Term Chloride Exposure Test (무기계 침투제를 적용한 콘크리트의 장기폭로실험을 통한 염해 내구성 평가)

  • The repair technique using surface impregnation of reactive compound is so effective for deteriorated concrete structures that many researches are recently focused on these works. Particularly, inorganic impregnant is regarded as ecofriendly material because there is no air-pollution during manufacturing process as well as field coating works. Furthermore, The delamination between old concrete and impregnated surface does not occur, resulting from different material characteristics. In order to evaluate the durability performance of surface-impregnated concrete, durability evaluation through the long-term exposure tests is significant, however, experiments are usually limited to the temporary and qualitative laboratorial scope. In this study, durability characteristics for inorganic and organic/inorganic impregnated concrete specimens are evaluated through longterm chloride exposure test. The specimens with 21MPa and 34MPa strength have been prepared and exposed to chloride attack in the atmospheric, tidal, and submerged conditions. Evaluation for compressive strength, chloride penetration, and electrical potential (half cell potential) for steel corrosion are performed for the specimens exposed for 2 years. From the results, no distinct strength gaining is observed but the resistance to chloride penetration and steel corrosion is evaluated to be improved through surface impregnation. The more improved resistance to chloride attack is measured in the inorganic impregnated concrete and the results from atmospheric condition show more improved resistance to chloride attack than those from submerged and tidal condition.

Weathering Properties of Shale Aggregate in Daegu-Kyeongbuk region and Freezing-Thawing Characteristics of Concrete in response to Usage of Shale Aggregate (대경권 셰일 골재의 풍화특성 및 셰일 골재 사용량에 따른 콘크리트의 동결융해 특성)

  • Sedimentary rocks from construction waste are discarded through open storage and landfilling, which causes an increase in construction cost and inefficient of execution of works. Some sandstone are selected and utilized as aggregates, but shale is buried as industrial waste. Therefore, in this research, we evaluated weathering properties of shale aggregate that is widely distributed throughout Daegu-Kyeongbuk region and freeze-thaw characteristics of concrete according to the replacement ratio of shale aggregate, in an effort to stabilize aggregate supply-demand in Daegu-Kyeongbuk region and develop alternative aggregates. We used red shale and black shale in the experiment, which were exported from a construction site in Deagu. We verified the usage of shale as a concrete aggregate by comparing andesite, which is broadly used as a thick aggregate for concrete, to hornfels, which is a metamorphic sedimentary rock. As a result of the experiment, we observed no degradation phenomenon for andesite and hornfels. However, a part of country rock containing black shale was found to be exfoliated. Red shale started having cracks in the direction of stratification after 1.5 months of direct exposure, and it broke into smaller pieces after approximately 4 months. After 300 cycles of freeze-thaw process on the concrete manufactured according to the replacement ratio of shale aggregate, the modulus of elasticity was 97% for plain and 95% for hornfels. In the case of RS_100, it was 57% after 210 cycles, and for BS_100, it was 54% after 240 cycles. Therefore, we established that, as the number of repetition increases, the freeze-thaw resistance decreases dramatically.

  • Because of the supply-demand problem of aggregate, recently, the construction sites using 100% crushed sand are increasing and the use of low quality aggregate such as farmland sand is increasing too. When the low quality aggregate is used, the various quality defect of concrete such as the strength reduction, the increase of shrinkage and bleeding can be occurred. Therefore, in this study, the performance improvement PC admixture was developed to minimize the quality defect of plain concrete of basement parking area, when the low quality aggregate was used at the plain concrete of basement parking area. The slump loss to elapsed time test, the compressive strength test, the bleeding test and the drying shrinkage test were carried out.

A Study on the Shear Strengthening Characteristic of Reinforced Concrete T-shaped Beams (철근콘크리트 T형보의 전단 보강 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Most of studies on existing strengthening methods were mainly on increase of stiffness and strength of shear strengthening to rectangular beam. As concrete of beam and slab is poured simultaneously on the characteristics of construction in reinforced concrete beam-slab structure, adjacent slab uniformed after hardening has T-shaped beam cross section which makes the flange of beam, enhances the stiffness of the beam and widens the area supporting compressive strength, but available data of flexural behavior of T-shaped beam are lacking. In this research the T-shaped beams would be made, then the reinforced effects and structural properties can be estimated according to the kinds of reinforced materials and reinforced position. The conclusions are shown as below. To sum up the experimental results, The specimen which was reinforce by CB embedded inside of concrete indicated excellent resistive behavior, internal force and stiffness when it was destroyed. The steel plate reinforced specimen of stiffness and internal force were increase but it expressed lower reinforce effects because of lowering anchored force between concrete. Fiber sheet strengthening showed superior effects but the interfacial delamination was found due to the lack of anchored force in destruction. So the measure is needed now.

An Experimental Study on Shear Strengthening of the R/C Deep Beams Using Carbon and Aramid Fibers (탄소 및 아라미드섬유를 이용한 철근콘크리트 깊은 보의 전단보강에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study was carried out to examine the structural behavior of reinforced concrete deep beams strengthened with aramid fiber sheets, carbon fiber sheets and plates, and to propose the reasonable strengthening method for the deteriorated R.C. deep beams. Results show that the most significant differences in behavior of reinforced concrete deep beams strengthened with fiber sheet and plate were mainly due to various fiber orientations and anchorage. Deep beams diagonally strengthened with carbon fibers show better performance compared with those of vertically, horizontally strengthened specimens and produce the increase in the shear resistance through the redistribution of internal forces after the initial cracks occur. However, strengthened deep beams without anchorages might show unreasonable, brittle peeling-off failure of fiber reinforcements.

  • In this study, flexural strength by fiber reinforced for steel fiber and reinforced polyamide fiber concrete, and concrete fracture properties by improvement of flexural toughness and high-velocity projectile impact were evaluated. As a result, it was confirmed that flexural strength are improved by distribution of stress and suppress of cracks, and the back desquamation of concrete by high-velocity projectile impact is suppressed. In addition, It was observed that the spalling of rear is caused when tension stress is caused as shock wave by high-velocity projectile impact was transferred to the rear and tension stress is suppressed by fiber reinforcement.

  • 본 연구에서는 무인이동체를 활용한 철도교량의 외관조사 점검을 보다 효율적이고 객관성 있게 수행하기 위하여 무인이동체를 통해 촬영된 이미지를 딥러닝 기반 분석기술을 활용하여 손상 자동으로 분석 하기위한 기술을 연구하였다. 철도교량의 외관 손상 중 균열, 콘크리트 박리·박락, 누수, 철근노출에 대한 손상 이미지를 추출하여 딥러닝 분석 모델을 생성하고 학습한 분석 모델을 적용한 시스템을 실제 현장에 적용 테스트를 수행하였으며 학습 구현된 분석모델의 검측 재현율을 검토한 결과 평균 95%이상의 감지성능을 검토할 수 있었다. 개발 제안된 자동손상분석 기술은 기존 육안점검 결과 대비 보다 객관적이고 정밀한 손상 검측이 가능하며 철도 유지관리 분야에서 무인이동체를 활용한 외관조사 업무를 수행함에 있어 기존 대비 객관적인 결과도출과 소요시간, 비용저감이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

Fire-Retardation Properties of Silicone/Perlite Composites (실리콘/펄라이트 복합체의 난연 특성)

  • 최근 세계 각지에서 발생하는 대규모 터널 화재사고는 많은 사상자를 동반하고 이에 따른 경제적, 사회적 손실 또한 방대하게 진행되는 실정이다. 터널 구조물의 화재 특성상 외부에 쉽게 노출되지 않기 때문에 화재 발생 시 화재에 노출된 표층이 박리되거나 비산해서 단면결손이 생기는 폭렬 현상(explosive spalling)이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 폭렬 현상은 붕괴와 같은 대형 참사로 이어질 가능성이 크다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 터널 내 화재 발생 시 콘크리트 구조물의 폭렬에 의한 붕괴를 예방하기 위하여 이액형 상온경화 실리콘 고무와 인체에 무해한 친환경 첨가제인 펄라이트를 일정한 혼합비(5wt%, 10wt%, 15wt%, 20wt%)로 혼합하여 고성능 난연 복합체를 제조하고, 열적 특성과 난연 특성을 연구를 진행하였다. 열적 특성에 관한 시험으로 TGA를 측정하였으며, 난연 특성에 관한 시험으로는 화염 시험, 내화로 시험, 탄화로 시험을 진행하였다. 우선 TGA 시험은 $20^{\circ}C/min$ 승온 속도로 $800^{\circ}C$까지 실험을 하였고, 화염 시험은 제작한 시편과 gas torch($1200^{\circ}C$)의 화염 거리를 약 10cm로 하여 약 1시간 동안 시험을 하였다. 내화로 시험은 내화로 장치를 이용하여 RABT curve(5분만에 $1200^{\circ}C$도달 후 한 시간 동안 유지 후 냉각, 총 시험 시간 180분) 조건을 만족하는 환경에서 제작한 시편을 콘크리트에 부착하여 콘크리트의 내부온도를 측정하였다. 탄화로 시험은 탄화로 장치를 이용하여 $2^{\circ}C/min$ 승온속도로 $900^{\circ}C$까지 실험을 하여 외부 형태 변화를 관찰하였다. 각각의 시험 결과 TGA 열분해 결과 순수한 실리콘 고무보다 난연제인 펄라이트를 첨가했을 때 더 높은 온도에서 초기 분해 거동을 보였으며, 최종 잔류량은 80%를 보였고, 5 wt%의 펄라이트가 혼합된 시편의 최종 잔류량이 높은 것으로 보아 열분해에 가장 강한 조성임을 알 수 있었다. 화염 시험 결과 펄라이트가 혼합된 모든 시편에서 $300^{\circ}C$가 넘지 않은 결과를 보였다. 이는 제조된 복합체가 화염에 직접적으로 장시간 노출이 되어도 안전하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 내화로 및 탄화로 시험 결과 펄라이트가 15wt%와 20wt%가 첨가된 시편들보다 5wt%와 10wt% 첨가된 시편들이 고온에서 안정하다는 것을 보였다.

Flexural Behaviors of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with Carbon Fiber Sheets (탄소섬유시트로 보강된 철근콘크리트 보의 휨 거동)

  • To investigate the flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with carbon fiber sheets, 1 control beam and 8 strengthened beams(4 NU-beams without U-shaped band and 4 U-beams with U-shaped band) are tested. The variables of experiment are composed of the number of carbon fiber sheets and the existence of U-shaped band, etc. The experimental results showed that the strengthening system with U-shaped band controls the premature debonding and provides a more ductile failure mode than the strengthening system without U-shaped band. It can be found from the load-deflection curves that as the number of fiber sheets is increased, the maximum strength and the flexural rigidity is increased. The experimental results are compared with the analytical results of nonlinear flexural behaviors for strengthened RC beam. The proposed analytical method for strengthened beams is proved to be accurate by an experimental investigation of load-deflection curve, yield load, maximum load, and flexural rigidities in the pre- and post-yielding stages.
