Microbial Inactivation of Grains Used in Saengshik by Corona Discharge Plasma Jet (코로나방전플라즈마제트를 이용한 생식용 곡류의 미생물 저감)

  • Inactivation of microorganisms in grains used for saengshik, a formulated health food, was attempted by corona discharge plasma jet (CDPJ). The initial microbial counts of the grains were in the range of $1.7{\times}10^3-9.9{\times}10^5CFU/g$. The CDPJ-inactivation effect was increased with electric current in the range of 1-1.5 A. Regarding span length between the tips of the electrodes and the treatment surface, the highest inactivation effect was observed at 25 mm. The inactivation pattern fitted well to the Singh-Heldman model. Bacteria were more labile to the CDPJ inactivation than yeasts and molds. Among tested grains, white rice showed the highest sterility followed by pressed barley and brown rice. Despite the inactivation by plasma, the thiobarbituric acid content of the grains remained unchanged over 10 min of treatment. Our results indicated the potential of the CDPJ treatment to improve the hygiene of saengshik products with no remarkable changes in lipid quality.

Flashover Characteristics of the Horizontal Air Gaps Caused by Combustion Flames (연소화염에 의한 수평배치 공기갭의 섬락전압 특성)

  • In this paper, characteristics of the ac and dc flashover voltage in the horizontal air gap of a needle-needle electrode system were investigated when the combustion flame was present near the high-voltage electrode. In order to examine the flashover phenomena and the corona inception voltages caused by flame we measured the voltage and current waveforms when the corona and the flashover was occurred. We also observed, as increasing the applied voltages, the deflection or fluctuation phenomena in the shape of flames caused by the corona wind and the coulomb's force. As the results of an experimental investigation, we found that the reduction of flashover voltages, in comparison with the no-flame case, are 62.7[%] for k=1.0, 34.2[%] for h=5[cm], 27.3[%] for h=7[cm] and 21.4[%] for h=9[cm] when ac voltage is applied.

Tracking Propagation Mechanism on the Surface of Polyvinyl-Chloride-Sheathed Flat Cord based on Electric Field Analysis and Gas Discharge Physics (전계해석과 기체방전 이론을 기반으로 한 Polyvinyl-Chloride-Sheathed Flat Cord 표면의 트래킹 진전 메커니즘)

  • Tracking, which is one of the main causes of electrical fires, is perceived as a physical phenomenon of electrical discharge. Hence tracking should be explained based on electric field analysis, conduction path by electron generation, and gas discharge physics. However, few papers have considered these details. This paper proposes a tracking mechanism including their effects on tracking progress. In order to prove this mechanism, a tracking experiment, an electric field analysis for the carbonization evolution model, and an explanation of the tracking process by gas discharge physics were conducted. From the tracking experiment, the current waveforms were measured at each stage of the tracking progress from corona discharge to tracking breakdown. The electric field analysis was carried out in order to determine the electric field on the surface of a dry-band and the high electric field region for electron generation during the generation and progress of carbonization. In this paper, the proposed tracking mechanism consisted of six stages including electron avalanche by corona discharge, accumulation of positive ions, expansion of electron avalanche, secondary electron emission avalanche, streamer, and tracking by conductive path. The pulse current waveforms measured in the tracking experiment can be explained by the proposed tracking mechanism. The results of this study will be used as the technical data to detect tracking phenomenon, which is the cause of electric fire, and to improve the proof tracking index.

  • 본 논문은 국내 실정에 적합한 초고압 가공 직류 송전(HVDC)선로 설계를 위해서 세계적으로 처음 시도되는 가변 기능을 지닌 Proto Type HVDC 실규모 시험선로의 설계와 구축에 대해 소개한다. 시험선로는 초고압 직류송전시 발생하는 이온의 흐름에 의한 이온전류 밀도, 대전 전압, 지표면 전계강도 등 이온류(Ion류(流))에 의한 전기환경장애 및 코로나 영향을 검토하여 환경 친화적 HVDC 송전선로 설계기준을 도출하는데 있다. 이에 따라 HVDC 실규모 시험선로는 요크, 특수 애자련, 특수 arm을 사용하여 철탑의 극간 배치, 도체 배치 변경 및 지상고 변경이 가능하도록 winch를 채용하여 절연설계 조건의 유동성, 환경, 지지물, 송전기자재, 경제성 및 운용의 효율성을 종합적으로 고려할 수 있도록 특수한 형태로 설계되었으며, 본 논문은 상용 가공 HVDC 송전방식의 적용에 앞서 현재의 상황을 고려한 가공 HVDC 실증시험을 수행하기 위한 시험선로의 설계 및 구축에 대하여 기술하였다.

  • 본 논문은 폭넓은 전기환경 실증연구가 가능한 실규모 HVDC 시험선로의 설계 및 구축에 대해 소개한다. 국내 실정에 적합한 초고압 가공 직류송전(HVDC)선로 설계를 위해서는 전기적인 환경 장애를 일으키지 않는 환경친화적인 설계 및 건설에 대한 대안이 마련되어야 한다. HVDC 선로의 전기적인 환경영향은 주로 (+)극과 (-)극에서 발생하는 이온의 흐름에 의한 이온전류 밀도, 대전전압, 지표면전계강도 등 이온류(Ion流)의 영향과 초고압 송전에 따른 코로나 영향에 대해 검토하는 것이다. HVDC 실규모 시험선로는 요크, 특수 애자련, 특수 arm을 사용하여 철탑의 극간 배치, 도체 배치 변경 및 지상고 변경이 가능하도록 winch를 채용하여 절연설계 조건의 유동성, 환경, 지지물, 송전기자재, 경제성 및 운용의 효율성을 종합적으로 고려할 수 있도록 특수한 형태로 설계하여 각종 전기환경 실증연구가 가능하며 국내 환경 특성에 적합한 최적 극배치 좌표 도출이 가능하도록 구축되었다. 본 논문은 상용 가공 HVDC 송전방식의 적용에 앞서 현재의 상황을 고려한 전기환경 실증 연구가 가능한 실규모 HVDC 시험선로의 설계 및 구축에 대하여 기술하였다.

Thermally stimulated currents of Corona-charged PTFE film (코로나 대전된 PTFE 필름의 열자격 전류)

  • In this paper, thermally stimulated currents (TSC) of corona-charged PTFE film were studied. Corona electrets which were formed by applying high voltages ${\pm}$5∼${\pm}$8[kV], to PTFE film of 100[$\mu\textrm{m}$] thickness, were experimented to measure TSC in the temperature range from -100[$^{\circ}C$] to 200[$^{\circ}C$]. As the result, four peaks of ${\gamma}$, ${\beta}$$_2$, ${\beta}$$_1$ and ${\alpha}$ were obtained at the temperature of -40[$^{\circ}C$], 30[$^{\circ}C$], 90[$^{\circ}C$] and 170[$^{\circ}C$], respectively. Speaking of the origins of these peaks, first of all, ${\gamma}$ peak is believed to show up by virtue of CF$_2$groups. B$_2$ peak seems to turn up by detrapping of the electrons which are accelerated by the corona exposure. ${\beta}$$_1$ peak looks to be ascribed to detrapping of the dipole and the trapped electron. Finally, ${\alpha}$ peak appears to result from detrapping of the electrons which are trapped in the para-crystalline region.

A Study on the Development and Characteristics Evaluation of Non-Contact HFCT Sensor for Partial Discharge Measurement (부분방전 측정용 비접촉식 HFCT 센서개발 및 특성평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the sensor such as current transformer type was developed for measuring non-contact partial discharge in power electrical facilities, and the results of the characteristic evaluation were discussed. The frequency response characteristics of the HFCT sensor were shown to be measurable from 20 [kHz] to 20 [MHz]. The average sensitivity for the positive direction was 0.308 [mV/pC], and the negative direction was 0.459 [mV/pC]. Which showed that the sensitivity for the negative direction was better than that for the positive direction. The developed HFCT sensor is possible to measure very small partial discharge pulse signals and can be measured various types of partial discharge that may occur at power electrical facilities.

  • In a test duct with closed configuration, particle removal performance of an edge-plate type electrostatic precipitator (ESP) was evaluated at a high flow rate in $CO_2$ rich environments by changing gap distances between collection plates, concentrations of $CO_2$, particle sizes, types of electrodes, and types of power supplies. At the same experimental conditions, collection efficiency of particles with the mean particle size, 300 nm, decreased as the gap distance and $CO_2$ concentration increased because of low electrostatic force and low discharged current. In addition, as the particle size increased, the efficiency increased because of high charging rate of the large particles. With the electrode type which has higher surface area of a discharging plate and with the power supply which applied 25 kHz-pulsed DC voltages, the removal efficiency was high even in rich $CO_2$ condition due to high electrostatic force at the same power consumption.

Ion Effects of HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole Overhead Transmission Line with Metallic Return Conductor Using Full-scale Test Line (실증시험선로를 이용한 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 이온류 특성 평가)

  • A full-scale test line was established to verify the electrical environmental interferences caused by the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole overhead transmission line with metallic return conductor, which is scheduled for construction in Korea and the fullscale test was conducted for one year. And through the human perception test of the DC electric-field under the HVDC Double Bipole line, the threshold value at which the human detects DC electric field was investigated to verify the validity of the design guide for the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole overhead transmission line. The polarity configuration of the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole test line was arranged diagonally with the same polarity in terms of the electrical environment disturbance and operation. The test line utilized the 6-bundle arrangement to prevent the corona discharge taking into account the domestic social acceptability. The test results show that the HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole transmission line generated very little corona discharge from the conductors. Therefore, both DC electric field and ion current density met the domestic design guide for DC overhead transmission lines. Also, the human perception test of DC electric fields under the test line showed that 70% of participants did not recognize the DC electric field even when exposed to 23 kV/m.

Corona Discharge and Strong Electrolyzed Water Generation Characteristics of the Electrode System Bedded by Dielectric Pellets (유전체구 충진형 전극계의 코로나방전과 강전해수 발생특성)

  • A dielectric pellets bedded parallel plates with a membrane centered have been proposed as an ion separation and collection system in water. and effects of the relative dielectric constant and the applied square wave pulse voltage on the characteristics of ion separation and collection in tap water and NaCl dissolved tap water have been investigated. As a result, electrolyzed water of pH 3.1 and 10.6 were obtained with only tap water at the pulse current of 1.0[A] and flow rate of 0.5[LPM]. And the higher ionized water of pH 2.8 and pH 11.7 ware obtained in 0.1[%wt] NaCl dissolved water. When the dielectric pellets of BaTiO$_3$ having the highest dielectric constant were bedded in the ion separation and collection cell, the ionized water of pH 2.7 and pH 11.7 were obtained with only tap water. And the ionized water of pH 2.4 and pH 12.0 were obtained in 0.1[wt%] NaCl dissolved tap water with the dielectrics pellets bedded ones.
