Analysis of IEEE 802.11a wireless LAN system considering frequency offset compensation and channel estimation in the indoor multipath channel (실내 다중경로 채널에서 주파수 오프셋 보상 및 채널 추정을 고려한 IEEE 802.11a 무선 LAN 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • The previous works for WLAN system based on OFDM is mainly individual study for independent frequency offset or symbol synchronization. In this paper, the performance of IEEE 802.11a WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) system in the realistic indoor multipath channel models is analyzed with frequency offset compensation and channel estimation methods. For the performance analysis of the WLAN system indoor Rayleigh multipath channels are adopted, and the BER(Bit Error Rate) of WLAN system is calculated with y2 code-rate 16-QAM based on standard specification. From the simulation results, the difference of required Eb/No for BER of 10-3 is 1-2dB between the channel estimation and frequency offset compensation, and perfect channel estimation and no frequency offset.

  • In this paper, we proposed advanced T-DMB system which is based on Eureka-147 using UEP coding methods and hiererchical modulation for providing additional services while maintaining BER performance. We simulated the proposed advanced T-DMB system using unequal l6QAM modulation scheme combined with various bit split methods and coding methods such as double binary turbo code of DVB-RCS standard and LDPC code of DVB-S2 standard. In the simulation results, double binary turbo code and LDPC code of proposed advanced T-DMB system have coding gain of 2dB and 3.5dB compared to conventional T-DMB system respectively.

A Design of Turbo Decoder using MAP Algorithm (MAP 알고리즘을 이용한 터보 복호화기 설계)

  • In the recent digital communication systems, the performance of Turbo Code using the mr correction coding depends on the interleaver influencing the free distance determination and the recursive decoding algorithms that is executed in the huh decoder. However, performance depends on the interleaver depth that needs many delays over the reception process. Moreover, turbo code has been blown as the robust coding methods with the confidence over the fading channel. International Telecommunication Union(ITU) has recently adopted it as the standardization of the channel coding over the third generation mobile communications(IMT­2000). Therefore, in this paper, we preposed the interleaver that has the better performance than existing block interleaver, and modified turbo decoder that has the parallel concatenated structure using MAP algorithm. In the real­time voice and video service over third generation mobile communications, the performance of the proposed two methods was analyzed and compared with the existing methods by computer simulation in terms of reduced decoding delay using the variable decoding method over AWGN and fading channels for CDMA environments.

Depth Map Pre-processing using Gaussian Mixture Model and Mean Shift Filter (혼합 가우시안 모델과 민쉬프트 필터를 이용한 깊이 맵 부호화 전처리 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new pre-processing algorithm applied to depth map to improve the coding efficiency. Now, 3DV/FTV group in the MPEG is working for standard of 3DVC(3D video coding), but compression method for depth map images are not confirmed yet. In the proposed algorithm, after dividing the histogram distribution of a given depth map by EM clustering method based on GMM, we classify the depth map into several layered images. Then, we apply different mean shift filter to each classified image according to the existence of background or foreground in it. In other words, we try to maximize the coding efficiency while keeping the boundary of each object and taking average operation toward inner field of the boundary. The experiments are performed with many test images and the results show that the proposed algorithm achieves bits reduction of 19% ~ 20% and computation time is also reduced.

Design and Implementation of Electronic Medical Record System Based on HL7-CDA for the Exchange of Clinical Information (임상 정보교환을 위한 HL7-CDA 기반의 전자의무기록 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • For the sharing and exchange of information between medical clinics, the clinical document has to be built on a standardized protocol such as a HL7-CDA. But it is difficult to exchange information between medical clinics because clinical document such as electronic medical record that include text and image, have different structure of document and type of expression. In this paper, we propose the electronic medical record system based on HL7-CDA that can share and exchange clinical information between medical institute. For this purpose, we have to design the schema of the clinical document architecture after we select the essential items of medical record and define templates. The proposed system can minimize integrating process and save parsing time when clinical information exchange and refer, by converting electronic medical record to base64 encoding scheme and integrate it in a XML document.

Hybrid 3DTV Systems Based on the Cross-View SHVC (양안 교차 SHVC 기반 융합형 3DTV 시스템)

  • When a terrestrial UHD broadcasting service and a mobile HD broadcasting service are provided using the PLP function provided by ATSC 3.0 and domestic UHD broadcasting standard, a small amount of data may be additionally transmitted to further provide high quality UHD-3D broadcasting service. The left and right images of the stereoscopic image are input, one view image is encoded by the SHVC method, and the other view images are encoded by the SHVC method of the two-view cross-referencing method. However, since the base layers (BL) of the two encoders are mutually common, the two encoders correspond to encoders that generate one BL stream and two enhancement layer (EL) streams. The average encoding efficiency is 16% more efficient compared to the third independent HEVC encoding for the UHD-3D broadcast service. The proposed scheme reduces the fluctuation of PSNR per image frame and increases the image quality of minimum PSNR frame by 0.6dB.

  • For FA (factory automation) and ATE (automatic test equipment) in the industrial area, the standard bus needs to increase the system performance of multiprocessor environment. VME(versa module european package format) bus is appropriated to the standard bus but has features of small package and low board density. Beside, the density of board and semiconductor have grown to become significant issues that affect development time, project cost and field diagnostics. To fit this trend, in this paper, we composed Revision C.1 (IEEE std. P1014-1987) of the integrated environment for the main function such as arbitration, interrupt and interface between, VMEbus and several control modules Also the designed, VME system controller is implemented on FPGA that can be located even into slot 1. The control and function modules are coded with VHDL mid-fixed description method and then those operations are verified by simulation. As a result of experiment, we confirmed the most important that is the operation of Bus timer about Bus error signal should occur within $56{\mu}m$, and both control and function modules have the reciprocal operation correctly. Thus, the constructed VHDL library will be able to apply the system based VMEbus and ASIC design.

  • Existing XML-based variable data publishing, in which a user has to manually prepare and edit template rules, is rather difficult for general users to create documents. Especially when processing large variable XML documents such as manuals or technical documents, fast document formatting is required to provide fast response speed for editing, which the existing batch processing cannot provide. This paper proposes a variable data publishing system with dynamic editing and formatting function, which support fast formatting upon user's request for large volume documents as well as for template editing through interaction by displaying the result of template-based variable documents on WYSIWYG screen. Proposed system can be effectively used for creating customized documents with many variable data that can be changed according to individual characteristics such as individual, company or area; source documents, template documents and formatted documents adopt XML, XSLT and XPath standards suggested by W3C, which facilitates extension to web document processing system.

  • This paper describes a 3.3V 10 bit CMOS digital-to-analog converter with a divided architecture of a 7 MSB and a 3 LSB, which uses an optimal Thermal-to-Binary Decoding method with monotonicity, glitch energy. The output stage utilizes here implements a return-to-zero circuit to obtain the dynamic performance. Most of D/A converters in decoding circuit is complicated, occupies a large chip area. For these problems, this paper describes a D/A converter using an optimal Thermal-to-Binary Decoding method. the designed D/A converter using the CMOS n-well $0.35{\mu}m$ process0. The experimental data shows that the rise/fall time, settling time, and INL/DNL are 1.90ns/2.0ns, 12.79ns, and a less than ${\pm}2.5/{\pm}0.7\;LSB$, respectively. The power dissipation of the D/A converter with a single power supply of 3.3V is about 250mW.
