Depthmap Generation with Registration of LIDAR and Color Images with Different Field-of-View (다른 화각을 가진 라이다와 칼라 영상 정보의 정합 및 깊이맵 생성)

  • This paper proposes an approach to the fusion of two heterogeneous sensors with two different fields-of-view (FOV): LIDAR and an RGB camera. Registration between data captured by LIDAR and an RGB camera provided the fusion results. Registration was completed once a depthmap corresponding to a 2-dimensional RGB image was generated. For this fusion, RPLIDAR-A3 (manufactured by Slamtec) and a general digital camera were used to acquire depth and image data, respectively. LIDAR sensor provided distance information between the sensor and objects in a scene nearby the sensor, and an RGB camera provided a 2-dimensional image with color information. Fusion of 2D image and depth information enabled us to achieve better performance with applications of object detection and tracking. For instance, automatic driver assistance systems, robotics or other systems that require visual information processing might find the work in this paper useful. Since the LIDAR only provides depth value, processing and generation of a depthmap that corresponds to an RGB image is recommended. To validate the proposed approach, experimental results are provided.

Laser Based Temperature Measurement of Rotating Disk Using Thermocolor (서모컬러를 이용한 회전 디스크의 레이저 온도 측정)

  • In this paper, we proposed a laser-based non-contact temperature measuring method for high speed rotating polycarbonate (PC) disk using transparency change of thermocolor. The thermocolor has abilities to change color and transparency due to a change in temperature. The thermocolor is applied on one side of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane. The thermocolor applied membrane is attached to inside of reaction chamber in disk. An optical system consisted of a laser beam radiator and a laser photometer is installed. Laser is irradiated at the bottom side of disk and the transmitted laser beam is detected by the laser photometer at the opposite side of disk. During the disk is rotating, laser is irradiated and detected simultaneously. The laser photometer senses the transmitted laser power and generates voltage as output. The temperature of disk can be detected during the disk is rotating up to 3000 RPM.

Human Hand Detection Using Color Vision (컬러 시각을 이용한 사람 손의 검출)

  • The visual sensing of human hands plays an important part in many man-machine interaction/interface systems. Most existing visionbased hand detection techniques depend on the color cues of human skin. The RGB color image from a vision sensor is often transformed to another color space as a preprocessing of hand detection because the color space transformation is assumed to increase the detection accuracy. However, the actual effect of color space transformation has not been well investigated in literature. This paper discusses a comparative evaluation of the pixel classification performance of hand skin detection in four widely used color spaces; RGB, YIQ, HSV, and normalized rgb. The experimental results indicate that using the normalized red-green color values is the most reliable under different backgrounds, lighting conditions, individuals, and hand postures. The nonlinear classification of pixel colors by the use of a multilayer neural network is also proposed to improve the detection accuracy.

  • 4차 산업혁명시대가 도래함에 따라 대학에서의 창의력과 융합력 기반의 교육과정이 첨차 중요시 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 개발에 소요되는 시간이 짧고 비 공학 전공자도 쉽게 개발 가능한 동시에 창의성과 독창성을 갖춘 자율 로봇의 제작 과정을 제안한다. 제작되는 로봇에는 초음파 센서(ultrasonic sensor), 컬러센서(color sensor), 미디엄 모터(medium motor), 그리고 이를 동작하기 위한 그래픽 기반의 프로그램이 하나로 융합되어 최종 결과를 도출하고 제시되는 다양한 임무를 적절히 수행하는 것을 보인다.

  • 최근 IT기술이 점점 발달함에 따라 장애인의 일상생활을 편리하게 하는 도구들이 속속 개발되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 시각장애인들이 색상판별을 진동을 통해 감지할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 이것은 최근 대중화되고 있는 사물인터넷(IoT)의 기반이 되는 아두이노 기술을 접목하여 다양한 스위치와 센서로 입력 값을 받아들여 LED, 모터와 같은 외부출력장치를 제어함으로써 상호 작용을 만들어 낼 수 있는 시스템이다. 구체적으로 제안하는 시스템은 컬러센서를 통해 색상을 감지하고 색상 값을 수치 값으로 읽어 들이고 수치 값에 진동의 세기 주기 등을 달리함으로 시각장애인이 색상을 판별할 수 있도록 되어있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 입력 장치 또는 카메라 이미지 센서로부터 얻은 Bayer Data입력 포맷을 우리가 디스플레이 장치로 보는 영상으로 출력하기 위해 전처리 작업을 수행한다. 먼저 들어오는 Bayer Data Format은 인터폴레이션을 수행하여 컬러영상을 표현하기위한 한 픽셀 표현 R, G, B값을 구한다. 본 논문에서는 연산량과 필요한 레지스터의 수를 줄이고 칩의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 기존 3${\times}$3라인 쓰지 않고 2${\times}$2라인을 이용한 인터폴레이션을 수행한다. 또한 Bayer Data입력에 대한 이미지 스케일링 작업과 인터폴레이션 수행 작업을 동시에 수행한다. 이를 구현하기위해 원본 이미지 사이즈를 640${\times}$480으로 입력 데이터를 사용하고, 소프트웨어로 전처리하여 이미지 결과를 확인한 후, 최적화된 알고리즘를 적용하여 VHDL설계언어를 이용한 하드웨어 설계후, ModelSim 6.0a를 이용하여 데이터를 검증한다.

  • 카메라를 내장한 휴대용 단말기의 보급과 인터넷 및 무선 네트워크의 급속한 확산으로 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 구체화한 새로운 서비스들이 등장하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 4개 분야의 학제간 공동연구를 통해 기존 PC 기반의 인터넷 컴퓨팅 환경에서 적용하기 어려웠던 U-Campus 서비스를 제안한다. 이는 UTOPIA 프로젝트의 일부로서 휴대용 단말기와 이미지 기반 센서인 컬러코드를 이용한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅형 캠퍼스 서비스이다. 현재 테스트 베드를 구축하고 U-Profile. U-Messaging 및 U-Campus Tour Guide 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 학생. 교수. 교직원 및 학교 방문자들은 U-Campus환경 하에서 다양한 정보를 PDA, 휴대전화, 스마트폰 등 휴대용 단말기를 통해서 언제, 어디서나 자연스럽게 제공 받을 수 있다.

Color Correction Using Back Propagation Neural Network in Film Scanner (필름 스캐너에서 역전파 신경회로망을 이용한 색 보정)

  • A film scanner is one of the input devices for ac acquiring high resolution and high qualify of digital images from the existing optical film. Recently the demand of film scanners have risen for experts of image printing and editing fields. However, due to the nonlinear characteristic of light source and sensor, colors of the original film image do not correspond to the colors of the scanned image. Therefore color correction for the scanned digital image is essential in film scanner. In this paper, neural network method is applied for the color correction to CIE L/sup *//a/sup *//b/sup */ color model data converted from RGB color model data. Also a film scanner hardware with 12 bit color resolution for each R, G, B and 2400 dpi is implemented by using the TMS320C32 DSP chip and high resolution line sensor. An experimental result shows that the average color correction rate is 79.8%, which is an improvement of 43.5% than our previous method, polygonal regression method.

  • Today, the demand of image acquisition systems grows as the multimedia applications go on increasing greatly. Among the systems, film scanner is one of the systems, which can acquire high quality and high resolution images. However due to the nonlinear characteristic of the light source and sensor, colors of the original film image do not correspond to the colors of the scanned image. Therefore color correction mr the scanned digital image is essential in the film scanner. In this paper, polynomial regression method is applied for the color correction to CIE $L^{*}$ $a^{*}$ $b^{*}$ color model data converted from RGB color model data. A1so a film scanner hardware with 12 bit color resolution for each R, G, B and 2400 dpi was implemented by using TMS320C32 DSP chip and high resolution line sensor. An experimental result shows that the average color difference ($\Delta$ $E^{*}$$_{ab}$ ) is reduced from13.48 to 8.46.6.6.6.6.

  • This paper introduces an electronic travel aid, named SmartWand, which detects obstacles using a ultrasonic sensor. In addition to obstacle detection, the SmartWand senses color information of objects and the environmental brightness. It is designed to be attached to a ordinary white cane in order to detect the obstacles at head-hight which cannot be covered by the cane. We have improved the first version of the SmartWand based on a user evaluation. The second version is much lighter and smaller than the previous one. It has been enhanced by two new functions. The SmartWand eliminates impact errors due to tapping the ground using a moving average filtering algorithm and restricts the detection range to the path in the moving direction using an acceleration sensor. We have tested these functions in various environments to determine the parameters for these functions.
