  • 사방을 둘러보면 커피 천지이다. 사무실이나 가정에서 쉽게 믹스커피를 타 마실 수 있고, 식당에 가면 커피 서비스는 기본이다. 맛좋은 원두커피를 마시고 싶으면 조금만 발품을 팔아 곳곳에 있는 원두커피 전문점을 이용할 수도 있으며, 편의점, 제과 제빵점 등에서도 커피를 파는 게 일상화되어 있다. 또 요즘은 건강에 좋은 웰빙 믹스커피나 손쉽게 마실 수 있는 캡슐커피도 나온다. 과거 자판기를 통해 한잔 마시면 족했을 커피가 이제 다양하기 그지없는 유통 수단을 통해 서비스 되고 있는 것. 가히 커피 천국이자, 커피 공화국이라 아니 할 수 없다. 아무리 불황여도 커피시장은 별다른 여파를 타지 않는다. 오히려 새로운 커피들과 유통수단이 속속 등장하며 시장 파이를 넓혀 가고 있다. 커피 시장의 급속한 트렌드 변화, 그리고 그 속에서 오히려 입지가 점점 약해지는 커피자판기 현실을 담아 봤다.

Development of Material Separation Process for Recycling Waste Coffee Capsules (폐 커피 캡슐의 재활용을 위한 재질분리 공정 개발)

  • This study evaluated the recyclability of waste plastics in used coffee capsules disposed of as municipal waste. For recycling, a new material separation process was developed to remove the coffee grounds through primary crushing, washing, sieving, and secondary crushing, followed by corona discharge electrostatic separation. Furthermore, for the under 10 mm size fraction samples, the aluminum removal and the plastic recovery were 95.4% and 98.3%, respectively, under optimal conditions. In addition, for the 15 mm fraction samples, the aluminum removal and the plastic recovery were 91.3% and 97.2%, respectively. To evaluate the recyclability of the separated waste plastics, the samples were pelleted, and their material properties were analyzed. No hazardous substances were detected, and the results were similar to those for homo-PP. Therefore, it was confirmed tha t sufficient functiona lity existed a s recycled PP. However, owing to the da rk color of the pellets, limited applications to black or dark products are expected.

The Effect of Green Coffee Bean Extract Supplementation on Body Fat Reduction in Overweight/Obese Women (과체중 여성에서 생커피두 엑기스의 섭취가 체지방 개선에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to examine the diet effect of green coffee bean extract on body fat reduction. Overweight/obese women (body mass index > $23\;kg/m^2$ or body fat > 27%) who were not diagnosed any type of disease were included in this study and subjects were randomly assigned to green coffee bean extract group (n = 23) or placebo group (n = 20). We measured anthropometric parameters, abdominal fat distribution by computed tomography and blood components before and after the 8-weeks intervention period. After supplementation, green coffee bean extract group showed a significant reduction of body weight (p < 0.01), body fat percent (p < 0.01), total fat area at L1 vertebra (-4.8%, p < 0.05) and visceral fat area at L4 vertebra was(-4.7%, p < 0.05). In addition, total fat area and visceral fat area at L1 vertebra decreased significantly in green coffee bean extract group compared with placebo group (p < 0.05, p < 0.05 respectively). The result of present study demonstrated that the supplementation of green coffee bean extract for 8 weeks can give beneficial effects on body fat reduction and visceral fat accumulation.

A Study on Preferences for Ginseng in Korean I. The Housewife's viewpoint (한국인의 인삼기호도 조사연구 제1보. 가정주부 중심)

  • In this survey we have studied the opinions of housewives to understand of the preferences of domestic consumers. This survey was conducted using a Questionnaire with 30 questions answered by 1,009 housewives. The following are the main findings. 1. The favorite beverages of housewives were coffee, yulmu tea, ginseng tea and black tea in decreasing order. Over 80% of the housewives recognized ginseng as an excellent and effective food . 2. The over 90% of the housewives had experience in taking ginseng. Their highest expectation of ginseng was its efficacy as a remedy for the hang-over syndrom. 3. The majority of housewives boiled it in water when take ginseng and indicated that ginseng was expensive in general. 4. They knew well about ginseng drink and tea whereas most of the housewives didn't know about ginseng capsules and tablets. 5. The preference for ginseng products differs greatly by the age of the housewife. Therefore, to make ginseng more favorable as a perfect tonic food, new ginseng products must be developed which appeal to the preference of the consumers.
