  • 상대방이나 주위에서 알지 못하도록 촬영하여 자연스러운 동작이나 표정을 담는 사진을 스냅사진, 또는 캔디드 포토라고 한다. 1920년 말 독일의 포토 저널리스트인 에리히 잘로몬(erich salomon)은 당시 처음 시판된 35mm 카메라를 모자에 숨겨서 법정이나 국제연맹회의에 드나들며 남몰래 사진을 찍었다. 그때까지 플래시 촬영에 의한 기념사진적인 보도사진 보다 상황전달이 정확했기 때문에 캔디드라는 이름으로 불리게 되었다. 당시 라이카와 같은 35mm 카메라의 출현으로 캔디드 수법은 기동성에서 보도사진에 일대 혁신을 가져왔다. 또한 순간적이며 동적인 상황을 사진으로 표현할 수 있었고 사진미학에도 획기적인 계기를 가져왔다.

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Candida Sepsis in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (신생아 중환자실에서 캔디다 패혈증의 발생 추이와 위험 인자)

  • Purpose : With the development of neonatal intensive care and the increased use of systemic antibiotics, candida sepsis has become one of the most important causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence rate and its associated risk factors. Methods : We retrospectively reviewed medical records of 28 cases with candida sepsis who were admitted in the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) of Chonnam University Hospital from July 1995 to June 2001. Twenty-nine patients without candida sepsis were enrolled for the control group to verify the risk factors. Results : The overall incidence of candida sepsis was 0.61% for all NICU admissions and 3.68% for all very low birth weight infants with the gradual increase of the annual prevalance rate over time. The endotracheal intubation, percutaneous central vein catheter(PCVC), umbilical vein catheter, total parenteral nutrition, intralipid and dopamine were more applied than the control group (P<0.01 for all). The durations of mechanical ventilator care, central catheter appliance, nothing per os, and admission were also significantly longer than the control group(P<0.01 for all). Ampicillin/ sulbactam, ceftazidime, amikacin, netilmicin, teicoplanin and imipenem/cilastatin were significantly more used than the control group(P<0.05). The durations of ampicillin/sulbactam, ceftazidime, netilmicin and imipenem/cilastatin administration were also proved to be significant as the risk factors(P<0.01). Conclusion : The average annual prevalence rate of candida sepsis in NICU for six years was 0.61% with gradual increasing tendency over time. The elimination of the above risk factors is important in decreasing neonatal morbidity and mortality associated with candida sepsis.

Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Chrysanthemum indicum L., C. boreale M., and C. zawadskii K. Flowers Candies (감국, 산국 및 구절초꽃 캔디의 항산화활성과 품질특성)

  • In order to investigate the quality characteristics of candies prepared with Compositae species flower extracts, the samples of Chrysanthemum indicum Linne (CI), C. boreale Makino (CB), and C. zawadskii var. latilobum (Maxim.) Kitam (CZ) were extracted with hot water and concentrated, and then added with various concentrations of 5$\sim$20% for candy preparation. L-value of candy color was decreased, but a- and b-value were increased with increasing amount of added extracts. pH was decreased, but total acidity was increased with increasing amount of added extracts. Moisture content of CI, CB, and CZ candies were 2.61$\sim$4.11, 2.46$\sim$4.57, and 2.27$\sim$4.43%, respectively. Hardness of candies were decreased with increasing amount of added extracts. CZ candy of 20% added extract showed the highest total polyphenol, flavonoid content, electron donating ability and anol, flavonaid content at 2.71 mg/g, 0.86 mg/g, 76.24%, and 3.17 mg AA eq/g, respectively. In sensory evaluation, the CI and CZ candies of 10% added extract obtained higher sensory scores.

Quality Characteristics of Candy Products Added with Hot-Water Extracts of Korean Mountain Ginsengs (장뇌삼 열수추출액 함유 캔디제품의 품질특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of candy products added with hot-water extract of korean mountain ginsengs as the useful food materials. Water content of the products were $0.41{\sim}0.88\%$. Candy product with $5\%$ addition showed the highest content($87.5\%$) in Brix. pH ranges of the products were $5.50{\sim}5.56$. In terms of Hunters color value, L value was lower in $10\%$ candy product(56.40) than that of other products, while a and b value were increased in $10\%$ candy product. Sucrose was the major free sugar of candy products, and major organic acids were malic, tartaric and citric acid. Free amino acids were predominantly arginine, serine, aspartic acid and proline. The major minerals were K, Mn, Na and Mg. Antioxidant activity of candy products were about $64.28{\sim}70.88\%$ compared to $96.81\%$ of BHA(200 ppm). Result of sensory evaluation of $10\%$ candy products gained higher sensory score in overall acceptance, compared to the other products.
