Fabrication of Mineral Coating for Slow-releasing Action and Characteristic (완효성을 위한 광물질 피복의 제조와 용출특성연구)

  • Porous mineral coating have been fabricated and applied for basic research on their slow release action to a fertilizer. Feldspar was selected as raw mineral for the coating and two different particle sizes of powder were prepared. Slow-release action was estimated by using a potassium sulfate fertilizer. Spherical pellets were prepared with a pan-type pelletizer and then screened into sizes ranging 1.4 to 2.35mm. While the fertilizer pellets were rotated in the pelletizer again, the feldspar powder and 0.5% polyvinyl alcohol solution were simultaneously sprayed on the pellets. The fertilizer pellets coated with feldspar powder were fabricated. The pellets were heated to increase their strength and screened to sort by coating thickness. Potassium releasing tests were conducted for 40 days and the performance for slow-release action was estimated as functions of the heating temperature, coating thickness and raw mineral powder size. The Burst effect caused high initial releasing rate. Releasing kinetics was proportional to concentration of potassium in pellets. The pellet that was fabricated with $27.4{\mu}m$-sized feldspar and heated at $1050^{\circ}C$ showed a releasing rate of 43% on the 40th day.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the nutrition status, growth and fruit quality of 'Campbell Early' grapes in Hwaseong area. Organic matter content of 3 vineyard soils was significantly lower than standard value. P2O5 and K contents of Y vineyard and P2O5 of C vineyard were very high. But there were no significant differences in contents of Ca, Mg and CEC. Compared to the standard value. T-N, Ca and Mg contents of petiole were adequate. P2O5 contents of Y and C vineyard and K contents of Y vineyard were significantly higher than standard value. Berry firmness, color and bloom occurrence on fruit skin showed no differences among 3 vineyard. Soluble solids content poorly, yield per tree and goods fruit of C vineyard decreased significantly compared to the fruit in Y and H vineyards. Russetted fruit of Y vineyard, colored fruit of H vineyard, and unfertilized fruit, cracked fruit, and bitter rot were observed frequently.

  • Five commercially available edible sweeteners are used as diet products because they can replace sucrose. In studies on the effects on animals and the human body, stability has been proven by excreting-oriented studies with characteristics of animal cells, and accumulation in small amounts has been ignored. On the other hand, plants can absorb, degrade, and accumulate foreign substances, so the effect of degradability and accumulation potential can be studied using plants. Metabolic effects in plants of commercially available saccharin and acesulfame potassium (Ace K) were tested using germinated barley and bean sprouts. In germinated barley and bean sprouts, saccharin and ace K showed inhibitory effects on plant growth in all organs from low concentrations in leaves, stems and roots. In addition, it can be observed that the symptoms of death appear clearly over time, so it can be seen that they are accumulated in the body of the plant. As the accumulated amount increases, the toxic effect increases and the plant reaches a state where it is unable to metabolize, turning black from the tip of the leaf and reaching a state of death. In order to remove the accumulated artificial sweetener, recovery was attempted by culturing in distilled water, but it acts as a substance that is not degraded and dies without avoiding toxicity. Saccharin and ace K cannot be excreted from the cell. Its toxic effects are thought to be persistent, inhibiting growth and eventually leading to cell death.

Characteristics of Inorganic Ion Absorption of Strawberries Cultivated in Closed Hydroponic System with Different Substrates (고형배지를 이용한 순환식 딸기 수경재배에서 배지 종류별 무기이온 흡수 특성)

  • This experiment was carried out to understand the characteristics of inorganic ion uptake of strawberries to establish a labor saving, environmentally sound closed hydroponic system. Nitrate nitrogen is absorbed in the perlite and granule rockwood with the almost same rate and in the cocopeat with a little bit higher concentration. At the early growth stage, phosphate was absorbed in comparatively high rate, but it is gradually declining to $4me{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in the three treatments except for reused medium. Four treatments showed different absorption rates for potassium, respectively, however, it became $3{\sim}5me{\cdot}L^{-1}$ gradually. But there was few sign to absorb potassium in the reused medium. High concentration of calcium was absorbed in the cocopeat medium and the lowest absorption rate in the granule rockwool, and it turned out to be $2{\sim}3me{\cdot}L^{-1}$ absorption concentration rate in the perlite. All three treatments showed $1me{\cdot}L^{-1}$ at the average absorption concentration rate of magnesium. Iron showed high absorption rate but it showed steadily 1~2 ppm absorption rate. Results of this experiment will be utilized for developing the new substrates for strawberry closed hydroponic system.

Comparative Modeling of Low Temperature Char-CO2 Gasification Reaction of Drayton Coal by Carbon Dioxide Concentration (이산화탄소 농도에 따른 드레이톤 탄의 저온 차-이산화탄소 가스화반응 모델링 비교)

  • We investigated the effects of the concentration of carbon dioxide on the char-$CO_2$ gasification reaction under isothermal conditions of $850^{\circ}C$ using the Drayton coal. Potassium carbonate was used to improve the low-temperature gasification reactivity. The enhancement of carbon dioxide concentration increased the gasification rate of char, while gasification rate reached a saturated value at the concentration of 70%. The best $CO_2$ concentration for gasification is determined to be 70%. We compared the shrinking core model (SCM), volumetric reaction model (VRM) and modified volumetric reaction model (MVRM) of the gas-solid reaction models. The correlation coefficient values, by linear regression, of SCM are higher than that of VRM at low concentration. While the correlation coefficients values of VRM are higher than that of SCM at high concentration. The correlation coefficient values of MVRM are the highest than other models at all concentration.

The Effects of 7 Fertilizers on the Growth and Nutrient Concentrations of Fraxinus rhynchophylla, Fraxinus mandshurica, Pinus koraiensis, and Abies holophylla Seedlings (7가지 시비처리가 물푸레나무, 들메나무, 잣나무, 전나무 묘목의 생장 및 양분농도에 미치는 영향)

  • Fertilization is required to keep the balance of tissue nutrients and to produce high quality seedlings at the permanent nursery. This study was conducted to verify the optimum fertilization method for Fraxinus rhynchophylla, F. mandshurica, Pinus koraiensis, and Abies holophylla seedlings with vector diagnosis method. Seven treatments include nitrogen (N, $13.8g{\cdot}m^{-2}$), phosphorus (P, $6.1g{\cdot}m^{-2}$), potassium ($7.5g{\cdot}m^{-2}$) fertilization and 1x (N $6.9g{\cdot}m^{-2}$, P $3.05g{\cdot}m^{-2}$, K $3.65g{\cdot}m^{-2}$), 2x (twice of 1x), 4x (four times of 1x) fertilization and no fertilization. Soil pH decreased as fertilization increased. Nitrogen and NPK fertilization decreased exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ concentrations. Height and root collar diameter of F. rhynchophylla and F. mandshurica significantly increased with N and NPK fertilization, but those of P. koraiensis and A. holophylla did not. The biomass of F. rhynchophylla and F. mandshurica was about twice higher at NPK fertilization compared to the control. The responses of vector diagnosis were different by tree species and fertilization treatment: F. rhynchophylla was in the status of N "dilution", which means the N concentration decreases with N content. Phosphorus and K were "sufficiency" state with 4x fertilization. F. mandshurica showed "retranslocation" as N content decreased without change of dry weight at N, P, K fertilization, but "dilution" state at NPK fertilization. This result suggested that optimal fertilization was required for F. rhynchophylla and F. mandshurica in seedling production stage, but was not essential for P. koraiensis and A. holophylla.

The Strength Properties of Alkali-Activated Slag Mortars by Combined Caustic Alkali with Sodium Carbonate as Activator (가성알칼리와 탄산나트륨을 혼합한 활성화제를 사용한 알칼리 활성화 고로슬래그 모르타르의 강도 특성)

  • This paper studies the effect of the compressive strength for combined alkali-activated slag mortars. The effect of activators such as alkali type and dosage factor on the strength was investigated. The alkalis combinations made using five caustic alkalis (sodium hydroxide (NaOH, A series), calcium hydroxide ($Ca(OH)_2$, B series), magnesium hydroxide ($Mg(OH)_2$, C series), aluminum hydroxide ($Al(OH)_3$, D series), and potassium hydroxide (KOH, E series)) with sodium carbonate ($Na_2CO_3$) were evaluated. The mixtures were combined in different dosage at 1M, 2M, and 3M. The study results showed that the compressive strength of combined alkali-activated slag mortars tended to increase with increasing sodium carbonate. The strength of combined alkali-activated slag mortars was better than that of control cases (without sodium carbonate). The result from scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis confirmed that there were reaction products of calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) and alumina-silicate gels from combined alkali-activated slag specimens.

  • The absorption capacity and initial absorption rate of $CO_2$ into aqueous $K_2CO_3$ solutions were measured by using VLE(Vapor-Liquid-Equilibrium) equipment in the pre-combustion condition. Absorption experiments were conducted within the temperature range of $40{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ while increasing the $CO_2$ pressure from 0 to 50bar. The effect of $K_2CO_3$ concentration was investigated by varying in the range of 5~20%. As a results, the absorption capacity and initial absorption rate were increased with increasing $K_2CO_3$ concentration in the absorbents. Also, the initial absorption rate was highest at $40^{\circ}C$. Further more, we have studied the effect of adding piperazine and homopiperazine to $K_2CO_3$ solutions. The results showed that absorption capacity of $CO_2$ was somewhat increased by adding piperazine.

  • Effects of some sources on the vegetative growth of Naematoloma sublateritium (Fr.) Karst. were investigated using liquid and solid culture media. Temperature, pH, carbohydrates as carbon sources, amino acids as nitrogen sources, the optimal carbon/nitrogen ratio, mineral element and organic acids were studied for good mycelial growth. We could improve a new semisynthetic medium for mycelial growth in N. sublateritium.

Microprocessor was used with a - pole and a + pole with a PWM(pulse width modulation) voltage in this electrolysis process, and four kinds of PWM voltages were implemented, and a voltage every ph density change tried to be considered. It is expected by getting exactly if number alkaline ion of ph density value necessary is done with setting value if PWM control is used thus.
