A Study on Evaluation of Bending Fatigue Strength in SCM415 Carburized Spur Gear (SCM415 침탄치차의 굽힘피로강도평가에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with evaluation of bending fatigue strength in SCM415 carburized spur gears. The constant stress amplitude fatigue test is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and the enhanvement of fatigue strength due to carburized treatment is clarified. In this study the improvement of fatigue strength is assumed to be caused by an increase of both hardness and residual stress and experimental formula has been proposed for the estimation of bending fatigue strength of carburized gears. The effect of surface conditions on the fatigue strength is evaluated quantitatively and it is close to the relative surface condition factor used in the ISO strength rating formula.

  • The gas nitro-carburizing treatment with the merits of carburizing and nitriding treatment is recently applied to transmission gears. the shafls of an engine oil pump and steering shafls. For all that, the researches of the gas nitro-carburizing treatment are short of the fatigue behavior and the evaluation of fatigue life. In this paer, it is examined for the effect of inclusions and hole defects with fatigue limit and the evaluation of the fatigue strengthaccording tothe hardness and resifualstress with the specimen of a notro-carburizing treatment.

  • In this research, the fatigue behaviors of Cr-Mo(SCM415) steel and carbonitrided CrMo(SCM415) steel are examined. The description of experiments in detail as follows. For SCM415 and carbonitried Cr-Mo(SCM415) steel, smooth specimens and hole defected specimens are fabricated and tested under a rotary bending tester, respectively. By performing the rotary bending fatigue test for smooth and hole defected specimens, the characteristics of the fatigue strength are examined for parameters such as tensile strength, hardness at surface, and residual stresses.

Effects of Shot Peening on Crack Growth Resistance in Carburized Gears (침탄치차의 쇼트피닝처리가 크랙진전억제에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper deals with an evaluation of the residual stress due to shot peening induced in a carburized gear tooth and its application to the fatigue crack propagation problem. A practical method is proposed on the basis of the assumption that the residual stress is caused by the difference of volume expansion in the case and the core, and the influence of both the reduction of retained austenite and the strain due to shot peening are considered. The evaluated residual stress is close to the measured stress, though the surface stress is rather overestimated. The stress intensity factor is computed by the influence function method, and it is shown that the factor is decreased by the residual stress in shot peened gear tooth. The shot peening is fairly effective to the reduction of fatigue crack growth rate. The crack propagation is simulated and the resistance due to shot peening is quantitatively demonstrated and discussed.

  • AISI316L강의 내식성과 표면경도를 동시에 향상시키기 위한방법으로 저온 플라즈마 침탄과 저온 플라즈마 질화를 동일한 로 내에서 연속적으로 실시하였다. 여러 가지 공정인자 중 저온 플라즈마 질화 시 $N_2$가스가 표면에 미치는 영향을 조사 하였다. 모든 시편의 표면에 N에 의해 확장된 오스테나이트 (${\gamma}_N$)가 형성되었으며, 형성된 ${\gamma}_N$로 인하여 표면경도가 약 $3{\sim}4$배 증가하였다. $N_2$가스가 증가할수록 ${\gamma}_N$층의 두께가 증가 하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유체기계에서 사용되고 있는 홀로제트밸브의 감속기에 대하여 APM S/W로 시뮬레이션(simulation) 하였다. 수압과 외부의 힘에 의해서 전달되는 베벨기어의 설계검증 및 재설계 관하여 시뮬레이션을 하였다. 도면의 재원을 변경시키지 않고 기어의 수명을 시뮬레이션한 결과 SM45C를 Martempering하여 사용할 시 기어의 수명이 짧아 적절치 못하였고 고주파열처리강, 질화열처리강을 사용할 경우 기어의 수명시간이 12,957-20,983시간 이였고 침탄강을 사용할 시 기어의 수명은 영구적이었고 소재의 경도가 우수할수록 더 많은 허용굽힘응력과 허용접촉응력을 받을 수 있다는 것을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 입증된다. 그리고 기어의 검증결과로 기어를 다시 설계할 경우 고주파나 질화강으로 하여 기어의 잇수가 1-3개만 늘어나고, 피치원의 지름이 4-12mm늘어나면 영구적으로 사용할 수 있고 침탄강을 사용할 시 치폭이 3mm줄어들고, 기어 잇수가 1-3개 줄어들고 피치원의 지름이 4-13mm 줄어들어 감속기를 경량화 시킬 수 있다는 것을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 입증되었다.

  • 순수 Mo와 Mo-Nb, Mo-Ta($\leq$10 at% Nb. Ta)합금을 1,500-2,06$0^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 탄소의 고용도를 연구하였다. 특수한 침탄방법으로 C2H2를 시편에 침탄한후 열처리하여 부분적으로 석출하거나 완전석출에 관계없는 화학적 분석방법으로 행하였다. 순수 Mo에서 최대탄소 고용도는 logCCmax = 7.02-9,490/T이다. Nb, Ta를 미량첨가하여 탄소의 최대 고용도는 Arrhenius 식을 적용할 수 없다. Nb-, Ta- 농도와 온도에 따라 Mo2C와 Nb-,Ta-를 함유한 여러 가지 탄화물상을 만들거나 $\alpha$고용체와 Mo가 포함된 NbC, TaC와 평형상태를 나타나기 때문이다. 실험온도 범위에서 Nb, Ta를 첨가량을 증가하면 탄화물 내부에 NbC, TaC로 석출된다. 고온에 용해된 a-고용체는 150-200 oK/Min으로 냉각하면 석출물은 결정입계나 결정내부에 나타난다. 순수 Mo에 Nb, Ta를 첨가하여도 경도, 파괴실험에서와 같이 인장강도는 크게 증가하지 않는다.

  • Due to their high strength and good wear resistance, nitro-carburizing materials have been used for many machine components. However, the nitro-carburizing materials are found to have one disadvantage ; that is, their strength and fatigue life show larger scatter than those of non-heated metals. In this paper, therfore, the statistical chracteristics of non-heated and nitro-carburized specimens for SCM415 are investi- gated under two different of stress levels 1.15 .sigma. /sub .omega. / .leq. / .sigma. / sub .alpha. / .leq. / 1.25 .sigma. /sub .omega. /. Seven specimens at each stress level are tested by using rotating bending fatigue tester. The relation between a crack length and fatigue cycles can be arranged for Weibull distribution, and S-N curve using 95% reliability function is obtalined for nitro-carburized specimen.

Effects of Heat-treatment on the Bending Fatigue Strength of SNC 815 Carburized Spur Gear (SNC 815 침탄치차의 굽힘피로강돈에 미치는 열처리법의 영향)

  • This paper deals with the bending fatigue strength of SNC815 carburized spur gears. The test gears are heat-treated by two different treatments. One is the direct quenching after car-burization. The other is treated by reheating and quenching. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and illustrated. The fatigue strength of direct quenched gears is higher than that of reheated quenched gears. The fatigue strength is estimated from the hardness and the residual stress by using the experimental formula proposed by Tobe and Inoue. The estimated strength is close to the test results, and the validty of the formular is confirmed.
