Soy-oligosaccharide Production from Yeast Fermented Bean Cooking Water: Effects of Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis (효모발효한 대두침출액으로부터의 대두올리고당 생산: 한외여과 및 역삼투 처리효과)

  • Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis were applied to produce soy-oligosaccharides from yeast fermented bean cooking water (BCW). The recovered total sugar by the ultrafiltration of bean cooking water on a cutoff molecular weight membrane of 20,000 and 5,000 was over 80%. The protein was removed up to 38% from the non-fermented BCW, 31% by S. cerevisiae KCTC 7039 and 21% by H. anomala KFRI 626. The recovery of oligosaccharides was above 70%, although fermented or non fermented bean cooking water was different on the recovery of oligosaccharides. The ultrafiltrated BCW was concentrated by reverse osmosis with respect to the volume concentration ratio (VCR). Total solid, total sugar, ash and protein contents increased up to VCR of 3.5 and then levelled off, showing that the optimum VCR was 3.5.

  • 주석은 최근 첨단 전기, 전자 제품의 핵심 소재로써 지속적인 수요 증가가 예상되는 전략 금속이다. 국내의 수요량은 2011년 기준 약 17,000톤 으로 99% 이상 수입에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나, 국내의 주석 제련 산업은 전무한 상태이며 폐자원에서 재활용하는 회수 기술도 초보 단계이다. 이러한 폐자원 발생량은 12,000톤/year이며, 약 1200억원에 달하는 규모이다. 다양한 폐자원의 선별적 전처리 요소 기술 개발 및 회수 공정 시스템 개발이 절실히 요구된다. 본 연구에서는, 주석 폐자원 중 solder 용융물 및 공정 스크랩 Lead solder, Lead-free solder 등 뿐만 아니라, ITO target 제조 시 발생하는 ITO sludge 등의 고상 폐자원으로부터 페자원의 물성을 파악하여 금속/산화물과의 파/분쇄 및 분급공정을 통하여 고품위의 주석 금속을 회수하였다. 뿐만 아니라, 고순도 주석시 발생하는 양극 슬라임 침출액 등의 액상 폐자원으로부터 희소금속의 추출 및 회수를 위해 습식 전처리 공정을 수행하였다. 침출액은 주석, 구리, 납 등의 유가금속이 이온형태로 존재하고 있으며, Chlorine이 다량 함유되어 있다. 고품위의 주석 산화물을 회수하기 위하여 침출액 내의 구리 제거 공정, Chlorine 제거 공정 등을 순차적으로 수행하여 고품위의 산화물 회수를 수행하였다.

A Study on the Removal of Arsenic 1mm Closed-Mine Tailings by Acid-Leaching Process (산침출에 의한 광미중 비소성분의 제거에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the acid leaching and precipitation has been conducted to remove arsenic from the closed-mine tailings. HCI and H$_2$SO$_4$were used as the leach liquor of arsenic and the tailing obtained from the Da-Duck Mine, which was already closed several decades ago, was also used as the source of arsenic. The effect of the concentration of acid, leaching time and the slurry density on the leaching efficiency of arsenic has been examined. In addition, pH controls and the addition of sodium sulfide were also attempted to remove the arsenic compound as the precipitation from the leachate. After 1 hr leaching by HCI, 40 to 86% of arsenic was leached out depending on the concentration of acid or the slurry density while 47 to 77% of it was leached out by $H_2$$SO_4$. The leaching of arsenic by both acids was almost accomplished within 10 min. and after that only a slight increase in leaching efficiency was observed with leaching time. When the leach liquor was used repeatedly for the leaching of arsenic, the concentration of arsenic in the leach liquor was found to increase continuously although the leaching efficiency was diminished. As far as the precipitation of arsenic in the leachate was concerned, more than 99% of arsenic could be precipitated through the addition of sodium sulfide as the precipitator while the pH controls resulted in the precipitation of up to 84%.

Effects of Nutrient Solution Strength and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Growth and Flowering of Potted Miniature Rose in Ebb and Flow System (저면관수 시스템에서 배양액 농도와 Arbuscular 균근균 처리가 분식 미니 장미의 생육 및 개화에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of nutrient solution strength and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF, Glomus sp.) on growth and flowering of potted miniature rose (Rosa hybrids L. cv 'Scarlet'). To achieve this, plants cultured with six different strength of Japanese Horticultural Experiment Station solution (0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and $4.0\;{\times}\;{full}$ strength) and inoculated with AMP at cutting and transplanting. Leachate EC increased as solution strength were elevated. The leachate EC were not different between non-inoculated plants and AMF treatment at cutting, but significantly decreased when plants were inoculated with AMF at transplanting. The elevated strength of nutrient solution resulted in decrease of leachate pH. When plants were inoculated AMF at transplanting, leachate pH was lower than those of non-inoculated plants and inoculated with AMF at cutting. At harvesting (93 days after transplanting), plant height, leaf width, number of branches and shoot fresh and dry weight of rose 'Scarlet' increased with elevated nutrient solution strength. AMF treatment at transplanting of potted rose 'Scarlet' showed the best results in growth such as chlorophyll content, number of flowers, and shortening the days required to flower. The content of N, P, K, and Mn in leaf tissue of potted rose increased by elevated nutrient solution strength and AMF treatment, while the tissue Na contents decreased by an AMF treatment.

  • Thorium extraction and possible separation from monazite leaching solution was studied. Primary amine Primene JM-T was select ed for t horium ext ract ion processing. Various experiment s were t est ed and est ablished for t he t horium liquid -liquid extraction process. The screening of extractant, lower pH conditions, extractant variation and extraction isotherms construction, and finally, stripping studies were established.

  • Ion exchange process was optimized to purify ultrafiltrated bean cooking water(BCW) for the production of soy-oligosaccharides. The ultrafiltrated BCW with cutoff MW(COMW) 20,000 membrane was treated with various ion exchange resins. Protein and ash were mostly removed by anion and cation exchange resins, respectively. Based upon removing capabilities for ash and protein, a cation exchange resin(SK1B) and an anion exchange resin(WA30) were selected. Protein and ash were more efficiently removed at low extract/resin ratios(ERR), but part of the oligosaccharides were concomitantly lost. When 2-step-ultrafiltrated BCW first with COMW 20,000 membrane and successively with COMW 5,000 membrane was treated with a mixed resin(SK1B : WA30 =1 : 2) at ERR 5.0, most oligosaccharides were recovered in a clear protein- and ash-free liquid.

  • A study on the recovery of yttrium was conducted using the phosphor sludges generated in the recycling process of obsolete CRTs. Yttrium was leached by HCl and $HNO _3$. The leaching efficiency of yttrium was extensively investigated in terms of acid concentration, leaching temperature and time, and pulp density. Yttrium and lead was recovered from leaching solutions also by precipitation method. The leaching behavior of yttrium was similar in both acids. The leaching efficiency of yttrium for both acids increased with time at the conditions of 3.0M, $90^{\circ}C$, and 280 g/L of pulp density. After 40 minutes, it was saturated to 93% and 90% for HCl and HNO$_3$respectively. Yttrium was recovered from leaching acid solution by the addition of $H_2$$C_2$$O_4$while lead was removed as $PbSO_4$by $Na_2$ $SO_4$.

  • In order to choose a suitable soil extractant for the prediction model of heavy metal content in brown rice, four extractants-0.1 M HCl, 0.1 M $HNO_3$, 0.1 M $NH_4$-oxalate and 0.001 M 2Na-EDTA, were compared by analyzing 84 soil and 45 brown rice samples collected from paddy fields adj-acent to five old zinc-mining sites. Content of cadmium and zinc in brown rice had the highest correlation coefficient to 0.001 M 2Na-EDTA and 0.1 M HCl extractants, respectively. However, the lead content in brown rice was significantly correlated with only 0.1 M $NH_4$oxalate solution. For the simultaneous prediction of zinc, cadmium and lead in brown rice, 0.1 M $NH_4$-oxalate solution was the most effective. On the multiple analysis by using various chemical characteristics of soils, pH and calcium content of soils were effective variables for the estimation of cadmium content in brown rice, while CEC and magnesium content were more effective for the estimation of zinc content in brown rice. Furthermore, for the estimation of lead content in brown rice, factors such as pH, CEC, calcium, magnesium, potassium and organic matter content were important variables in the multiple regression equation.

Recovery of Platinum Group Metals from the Leach Solution of Spent Automotive Catalysts by Cementation (자동차(自動車) 폐촉매(廢觸媒)의 침출액(浸出液)으로부터 시멘테이션에 의한 백금족(白金族) 금속(金屬)의 회수(回收))

  • The recovery of platinum group metals (PGMs) from the leach solution of spent auto-catalyst and the wash solution of the leach residue was investigated in the laboratory scale experiments by the cementation process using metal powders as the reductant. In this study, the effect of Al, Mg and Zn powders on the cementation process was particularly examined. Aluminum powder was selected as the most suitable reductant for the cementation of PGMs. At the cementation time of 10 minute under the aluminium stoichimetric amount of 19.3 and the reaction temperature of $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$, the recovery of platinum group metals from the leach solution of the spent auto-catalyst was found to be 99.3%, 99.4%, 90.2% for Pt, Pd and Rh, respectively. Under the same conditions with the aluminium stoichimetric amount of 45, the recovery of platinum group metals from the wash solution of the leach residue of spent catalyst was observed to be 97%, 97% and 90% for Pt, Pd and Rh, respectively. In addition, it was possible to upgrade the platinum group metals in the precipitates obtained from the cementation process by about 10% through the removal of metal impurities by the nitric acid leaching at ambient temperature.

Properties of Extracts from Extruded Root and White Ginseng at Different Conditions (압출성형 공정변수에 따른 건조수삼과 백삼 압출성형물의 침출속도 및 침출물 특성)

  • The comparison in release rate constant and properties of extracts from extruded raw ginseng and extruded white ginseng was conducted to apply extrusion process for manufacturing of released ginseng tea bag. Dry raw ginseng and white ginseng powder were extruded at 20∼30% moisture content and 200∼300 rpm by using an experimental twin-screw extruder. Browness and redness (both indicated the releasing of saponin and ginsenosides) were increased with the increase in the screw speed and the decrease of moisture content. Crude saponin and water solubility index (WSI) of both ginseng also share the same behaviour against the level of screw speed and moisture content, as well as browness and redness. The particle size effects of extruded raw ginseng at 20% and 28% moisture content on absorbance of released extract at 260 up to 560 nm, WSI, and water absorption index were determined. While particle size decreased from 800∼1000 nm to 200∼500 nm, absorbance and WSI are decreased. Absorbance and WSI shown increasing level while moisture content was decreased. In conclusion, the formation of pores by expansion and disruption of cell wall in extrusion cooking were obviously responsible to increase the amount of released extract of extruded ginseng and its WSI as well. The extrusion process turns out be the efficient process for manufacturing of commercial ginseng tea product than those of other thermal processes.
