"Eco-friendly construction"is an emerging issue in the building industry. Main purpose of the eco-friendly construction is to sustain the health and environment of building residents and to minimize the harmful effect on their environment. Apartment residents have great concern on eco-product, since many cases are reported that Sick Building Syndrome is caused by toxic substance from building materials. Environmental performance is to meet through using the highest grade eco-friendly materials. However, generally eco-friendly materials are more expensive than normal materials. Therefore using eco-friendly materials at public housing project is limited to economical aspect. The purpose of this paper is development of eco-friendly material selection model considered cost efficiency. The selection of Eco-friendly finishing materials and their methods are constructed to consider environmental performance level and cost index compositively. Development of eco-friendly material selection method is economic and reasonable one when public housing is constructed.
The problem of global warming faced a big turning point due to the adoption of "Kyoto protocol"in 1997. Therefore, by enacting "Act on Advancement of Integration and Streamlining of Distribution Business"and "green logistics partnership council"to reduce $CO_2$ emission, fulfillment of distribution work is comprehensively and effectively supported by Japan. In particular, the green management certification system, which promotes green management based on the independent and planned environmental measures of transportation service of harbor employers, warehouse operators, and trucking employers of logistics sector, is promoted. As such, the Japanese government is actively promoting the eco-friendly green logistics policy to reduce $CO_2$ emission in terms of the prevention of global warming by building the comprehensive and efficient logistics system. Therefore, this thesis studied the status of the green logistics policy of Japan where the eco-friendly logistics system is being built ahead of Korea and as a result, it presented the implications on the green logistics strategy which is eco-friendly and can be developed continuously, the development of eco-friendly green logistics industry, the introduction of green logistics certification system, Departmental roles and responsibility of administrative agencies.
This study aims to suggest 'an eco-friendly residential housing design guideline as an elderly housing alternative' by mixing the concept of a 'senior citizen community' housing environment with the concept of an 'eco-friendly' housing environment, based on the directivity of an elderly housing alternative for surviving in a super-aged society and the directivity of a sustainable housing environment for providing against global warming. Basically, this study considered the directivity of 'an eco-friendly residential building as an elderly housing alternative' by analyzing housing environment elements and elements to be considered in an elderly housing environment and setting the directivity of an elderly housing environment, which reflects the change in the design paradigm. In relation to the concept of universal design, for considering the perspective of elderly users, existing elements were compared and major planning elements were applied to the scope of complex planning, communal space and housing unit space. In relation to the concept of eco-friendly design, also, a guideline was re-organized and planning elements were applied to each category by comparing domestic and foreign green building certification systems. Based on domestic and foreign authorized guidelines of universal design and green building certification systems, this study was focused on suggesting an eco-friendly residential housing design guideline as an elderly housing alternative to make users perceive the need for a specific indoor environment design guideline and system.

This paper analyzes the applicability and technology level of the green building element technology by analyzing the scorecard of the LEED Canada certified buildings. The results of this analysis will be able to evaluate the current status and level of application of green building element technology, and it will be used as a basic data to prepare for the revision of the certification standards and the establishment of strategies for the future green building activation. In this study, 1,010 LEED Canada certified buildings from 2011 to 2016 were analyzed. The results were analyzed by focusing on the status of greening by certification category and the characteristics of adoption by sub-category. The results of the study are summarized as follows. (1) EA category showed the biggest difference between the certification scores and the adoption rates than other categories, and it was confirmed that it is not easy category from the viewpoint of practical adoption. On the other hand, the ID (Innovation & Design Process) and WE were analyzed to be relatively easy to apply, with a score of over 72%. (2) In the case of Platinum class, the upper adoption rate is shown in all categories except MR. The Gold class shows the adoption rate of WE and ID in the top, and the middle rate in most categories. Silver grades showed lower rates in the three categories except WE, ID and EQ. Certified grades showed the adoption rates of the bottom except the two categories.

This study aims to examine a significant difference in performance of, and attitudes towards, environmental tourism among domestic tourism companies by their types and scale, and to propose a policy direction for a new certification program on environmental tourism. This study conducted a survey with 152 tourism accommodations and 150 travel agencies. As a result, this study found that tourism accommodations and a large scale of companies had participated in environmental management practices more often than travel agencies and a small scale of companies. Also, tourism accommodations were more likely to recognize well a relation between their business and environmental tourism, and were more likely to participate in a new certification program than travel agencies. A large scale of tourism accommodations showed more positive attitudes towards environmental tourism than a small scale of tourism accommodations. On the other hand, all of the travel agencies showed less positive attitudes towards environmental tourism regardless of their size. In conclusion, this study proposed that the government should adopt a different approach to a new certification program according to tourism companies' types and scale, also it should provide a variety of incentives and supports for tourism companies.
As design tools, building performance certification systems can be applied to provide adequate guidelines on design process to create environment-friendly buildings. Domestic certification systems of residential building took effect by doing supply to designers and contractors from affiliated organization of governments in the early 2000s. As a result, Building Energy Rating System, Apartment Performance Rating System, Green Homes and other means to promote green designs have been operated. International trends of applying certification systems were started in the early 1990s as forms of LEED in USGBC, BREEAM in BRE, GBTool Canada. These systems aim to evaluate building performance in line with the Climatic Change Convention and realize sustainable building design. In 2009, residential buildings accounted for the largest portion of the internal real estate market with 67.9 percent according to the National Statistical Office data. And for 18 years since 1991, apartments among constructed residential buildings have ranked top taking up 77.7% as of 2009. Apartment performance evaluations accordingly are to promote to constitution of improving tenant quality of life, the residential environment and saving energy and resources in the internal building market. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze valuation bases of each sector in evaluation systems of residential buildings at home and abroad to upgrade current systems through reflecting the characteristics of residential buildings. Implementation of this study basically include comparison of valuation bases and partial analysis on properties of rating systems to suggest requisites for improvement in building performance certification.
This study examines the assessment systems of LEED v4.1, an eco-friendly building evaluation system in the United States, and SITE v2, an assessment system for sustainable outdoor spaces, and then compares and examines them from the perspective ofrelevant laws and institutional guidelines and standards in Korea. The conclusion is as follows. First, the US eco-friendly certification system basically not only establishes an independent evaluation system according to the field of expertise, but also provides a sustainable city and community through response to the climate crisis and the comfort of the external space environment. It can be evaluated that securing the quality of life of healthy and happy city dwellers is the top priority. Second, Korea's Green Building Certification System (G-LEED) was basically based on the American LEED system, but it was judged that there was a fundamental difference. It was judged that there is a limitation in not being able to achieve an integrated approach through the participation of various expert groups and stakeholders, but also in the accumulation of more scientific and reliable data and information through the application of cutting-edge information and communication equipment. Third, in the case of external space in Korea, a sustainable assessment system has not been established, and not only is it dispersed in various legal and institutional guidelines, but also its effectiveness is judged to be very low. Therefore, it is judged that it is urgent to introduce and secure the applicability of SITES v2, a sustainable outdoor space assessment system in the United States. It was judged that the effectiveness should be secured through the upward adjustment of the minimum Ecological Area Ratio.
A smart window is a new building material that can realize energy savings in a building. Smart windows can freely adjust Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) and solar gain coefficient (g-value) according to the situation. Smart windows include such technologies as Electrochromic (EC), Suspended Particle Device (SPD), and Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC). Recent research on building energy savings through the VLT and g-value control functions of smart windows is being actively conducted and meaningful results are being drawn. However, since most of the research is focused on energy savings, research on the indoor environment is somewhat lacking. A building is a space where people live and the comfort of life should be prioritized before energy savings. Therefore, in this study, analysis on the daylight performance of an office space was carried out. Through green building standards such as LEED, BREEAM, CASBEE, and G-SEED, the daylight performance was reviewed according to VLT value changes of the smart window. In addition, a study was conducted on the VLT range of the electrochromic façade that can maintain a comfortable indoor environment. The smart window used electrochromic control with a wide range of VLT. The study showed that the minimum VLT of a smart window that can satisfy G-SEED is 25% or more. In addition, it was found that the VLT change of the electrochromic smart window did not significantly affect the uniformity of the room. When the LEED standard was applied, the minimum VLT value of the electrochromic smart window that must be maintained according to each orientation of the building was derived.
We sought to derive an overall strategy for green business certification of medical institutions and to propose the improvement directions for green management evaluation systems through applying the criteria to medical institutions. A self-assessment survey was conducted at 44 targeted hospitals across the country, and the 2012 green management evaluation criteria for healthcare services were used as assessment tools. As a result, only 11 of the 44 hospitals were eligible for green business certification. By type, hospitals with more than 400 beds, hospitals in Seoul and the Gyeonggi area (${\geq}$ 400 beds) and private hospitals (${\geq}$ 400 beds) received relatively high scores. In an analysis of the mean score, only the difference between the hospitals with ${\geq}$ 400 beds and < 400 beds was statistically significant. When we analyzed the interviews of the hospitals with lower scores, it is important to change the awareness of executives and employees, to establish vision/strategy/objective, to promote relatively small-scale activities, and to establish long-term plans. To improve green management evaluation systems, it is necessary to reset the assessment area, to control scoring and weights, to create certification grades, and to adjust additional points.
