  • From 1985 to 1993, we collected 20 isolates throughout Kangwon and obtained 6 isolates from other sources. A. mellea formed rhizomorph actively, and some of A. osroyae were poor in the formation of rhizomorph and some without formation of rhizomorph. A. tabescens was active in the growth of aerial mycelium and poor in the development of rhizomorph. In A. gallica, the mycelium development among the isolates were variable greatly, and especially in isolate A8(KNU-250), the mycelial development was similar to that of A. osroyae, but A8(KNU-250) showed the feature of A. gallica to change medium into brown color. In PCR-RFLP analysis of the IGS region in rDNA, the homology between each isolate in the A. mellea and A. ostoyae showed 100% homology. A. tabescens showed $0.919{\sim}0.974$ homology, and A. gallica showed $0.619{\sim}1.000$ homology. A19 and A12 showed 100% homology as the same group, but compared with other subgroups they showed less than 10% homology as $0.051{\sim}0.108$ value. In RAPD analyses, the isolates of A. mellea showed high homology among themselves as $0.983{\sim}1.000$, and A. ostoyae also showed high similarity. The homology between isolates of A. tabescens showed $0.594{\sim}0.953$ value because A. gallica showed $0.280{\sim}0.733$ value, and the variations between isolates were greater than other species. Especially, A19 and A22 were identified as new novel group which were remoted from other groups, and the homology between these two isolates showed 0.921 value, and the genetic similarity between these groups and other 4 groups showed less than 7% as $0.012{\sim}0.069$ value. Of 5 species identified in this study, 4 species were identified as A. mellea, A. ostoyae, A. tabescens, and A. gallica that were already reported ones and 1 species was suggested as a new specie in Korea.

  • The trend of business work that is related to supply chain changed into e-business using the electronic document However, the small and medium enterprise organizations still use huge volume of paper document, especially in private sector. Recently, the need for eco-friendly and low cost logistics becomes increasing. For this, it has expanded to exchange or to use e-document rather than the paper or manual processing in supply chain business. Therefore, this paper proposed the electronic access system for supply chain by business process modeling. If it is using the proposed system, it can be saving the exchanged or the scanned document to system, and user can utilize that document on just accessing system whenever they need the document. We believe it might reduce the burden of each organization because they don't need to save large volume data to their system or place. Furthermore, the benefits will effect across the national as well as global.

  • A proposal of gene transfer scheme from diploid to hexaploid in oats was described. The main idea of this scheme are (1) use Avena magna which has two genomes partially in common with two genomes of the hexaploid Avena sativa or a common genome and the rest genomes partially commonn, and which lead to more regular pairing between them rather than AABB genome type to get 6x-amphiploid as a bridge between ploidy level. Cross between Avena strigosa and Avena magna is compatible and further give 42% seed set, (2) extract tetraploid derivatives which have in corporated desired genes from Avena strigasa to Avena magna, (3) Synthetic petaploid provide 2n=21 chromosome number in female gametes, which lead to complete pairing or nearly so in progenies with Avena sativa, (4) eventually homozygous lines will be produced by selfing the heterozygous (regarding to$A^{As}$ genome) at final step.

  • Plants Social Network (PSN) was first used in recent studies to incorporate the plant sociology methods for the understanding of plant society with the social network analysis methods that have recently attracted attention in the social science and visualize and analyze a PSN. The process of construction and analysis on PSN proceeds in the order of setting up the survey area, investigating the appearance plants species on plots of 100㎡, analyzing the interspecific association, building the sociogram, and analyzing the network structure and centrality. This study established a PSN by investigating the appearance species after installing 708 plots to include various dominant vegetational physiognomies in Busan Metropolitan City, where coastal and inland vegetation could be observed simultaneously. The survey found a total of 195 species, including 42 species of evergreen, 151 species of deciduous trees, and 2 species of semi-evergreen trees. The interspecies binding analysis was performed with the focus on the total number of species. It showed the number of friendly species in the order of Eurya japonica (47 species), Trachelospermum asiaticum (46 species), Linder glauca (44 species), Sorbus alnifolia (44 species), and Ligustrum japonicum (41 species). Based on it, we generated a sociogram using Gephi 0.9.2 program. The sociogram was divided into groups that appeared mostly on the coast and those that did not, reflecting the geographical distribution characteristics of forest vegetation in Busan. The analysis of the network structured showed 1,709 links and an average of 17.5 species having interspecies binding with a species. The density was 0.09, the diameter was 5, and the average path distance was 2.268. We concluded that various PSNs should be established in the future for precise comparative analysis of network characteristics in the social science field. In the PSN of Busan Metropolitan City, Eurya japonica, Linder glauca, Ligustrum japonicum, and Trachelospermum asiaticum showed high centrality.

  • Anti-microbial effects of the medium extracts from three different lactic acid bacteria (LB1, Lactobacillus acidophilus; LB2, Lactobacillus casei; LB3, Lactobacillus sicerae) were investigated. Three different extracts of lactic acid bacteria media (ELAM) did not show significant changes in pork loin quality after 3 and 14 days of cold storage such as general contents, colors, pH, and TBARS. To determine anti-bacterial activity of three ELAM, three pathogenic bacteria (Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus) were obtained and incubated with ELAM-absorbed paper discs. ELAM of LB2 and LB3 showed significantly larger bacterial growth inhibitory zones compared with that of LB1 (P<0.05). When the pathogenic bacteria inoculated in pork loin with three ELAM, total microbial contents of pork loin treated with ELAM of LB3 after 14 days of cold storage showed significantly lower microbial contents compared to those of control, LB1 and LB2 (P<0.05). In conclusion, ELAM of LB3 derived from L. sicerae had the most effective pathogenic bacteria inhibitory activity on agar and pork loin. This is the first result to report the antibacterial effect of L. sicerae. If the safety and toxicity characteristics of L. sicerae are further investigated, this new lactic acid bacterium would have potential as an effective and nature-friendly food preserving agent.

  • An eco-washland is increasingly getting attentions as a new alternative plan for management of water resources because of role as flooding control and ecological park without social and ecological side effects. However, there is a lack of study regarding technological development and ecological guidelines to create eco-washland. This study was carried out to suggest ecological guidelines necessary for engineering process to create eco-washland. A study site was the lower reach of Seokjang stream connecting to Yimjin river, a candidate of new eco-washland, and Kumsa area in Namhan river was selected as a reference site. The analysis of ecological characteristics focused on vegetation, fishes, and birds. Major vegetation communities, composed of dominant species such as Salix koreensis, Salix gracylistyla, Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Phragmites communis, etc., formed physical conditions along with other land uses including open water, sandbar, cultivated land, etc. Dominant species of fishes were some species belonging to Cyprinidae and Acheilognathinae, and in case of birds Anser albifrons, Anas platyrhychos, Anas poecilorhyncha belonging to waterbirds and Paradoxornis webbinanus dependent to forest edge were dominantly distributed. The results showed that complex wetland types associated with partially deep water and upland was the optimal eco-hydrological condition of washland. Cyprinidae and Acheilognathinae in case of fish and Egretta spp. (spring season) and Anas spp. (winter season) in case of bird were selected as target species for the these wetland types. Finally, a detail planning criteria to create habitats of these target species were discussed in terms of spawning, breeding, feeding, resting, refuge, nesting, etc.

  • A new cultivar 'Hongan' was originated from an artificial cross between 'Fuji' and 'Jonathan' carried out at National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science in 1993. The cultivar was preliminarily selected among the elite siblings for its high fruit quality in 2002. After regional adaptability test at five districts for subsequent four years as 'Wonkyo Ga-32', it was finally selected in 2006. 'Hongan' is characterized by the following. Optimum harvest time is late September. Shape of the mature fruit at 309 g on mean weight is globosity with a light red skin on a greenish yellow ground and yellowish white flesh. The fruit contains favorable total soluble solids at $13.7^{\circ}Brix$ and an acidity at 0.28%. Safe storage period for the fruit is 3 weeks at room temperature. It is resistant to Bitter rot. 'Hongan' also reveals a physiological cross compatibility with leading cultivars such as 'Gamhong' and 'Tsugaru' in addition to its maternal parent 'Fuji'. Tree topology is semi-spreading with vigorous growth habit.

  • Phytoremediation is an economical and environmentally friendly bioremediation technique using plants which can increase the microbial population in soil. Unlike other pollutants such as heavy metals, poly-chlorinated biphenyl, trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene and so on, petroleum hydrocarbons are relatively easily degradable by soil microbes. For successful phytoremediation of soil contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, it is important to select plants with high removal efficiency through microbial degradation. In this study, we clarified the roles of plants and rhizobacteria and identified their species effective on phytore-mediation by reviewing the papers previously reported. Plants and rhizobacteria can degrade and remove the petroleum hydrocarbons directly and indirectly by stimulating each other's degradation activity. The preferred plant species are alfalfa, ryegrass, tall fescue, poplar, corn, etc. The microorganisms with a potential to degrade hydrocarbons mostly belong to Pseudomonas spp., Bacillus spp., and Alcaligenes spp. It has been reported that the elimination efficiency of hydrocarbons by soil microorganisms can be improved when plants were simultaneously applied. For more efficient restoration, it's necessary to understand the plant-rhizobacteria interaction and to select the suitable plant and microorganism species.
