  • This study aims to propose a method of spatial therapy through spatial psychology in various ways of healing for emotional damage received by individuals. It is intended to prove the effectiveness and specify the method through instructional cases of spatial therapy for general university students. The method of spatial therapy was designed as a preliminary question(past)-space exploration (present)-travel plan(future). In the preliminary question, the students remembered the happy trip with their family and the pleasant memories with a person for the longest time. In the space exploration, the places the students visited were all different, but they were fully satisfied and happy about the place they had been to. The students fully remembered and expressed their feelings about the person they were with and the place. In their travel plans, students were fully prepared for the trip and looking forward to various therapy emotions they wanted to feel there. Most of the students said they wanted to find peace of mind through travel, feel peaceful feelings, and enjoy a beautiful world. Travel for spatial therapy or visiting certain places gives those who are tired and struggling enough therapy power.

  • This study is a scientific approach to psychological factors such as emotional stability among various effects of forest resources. In order to carry out this study, the experiment was conducted on the subjects by setting the forest healing space as various spaces. The subjects who participated in this experiment were the students in their twenties and the average age was 22±1.25 years. The subjects were assessed for emotional words through subjective sequence evaluation in different designated forest healing spot. In addition, the emotional states that they actually perceived were measured by measuring the bio-signals to their perceived emotions. BMP, SDNN, VLF, LF, HF, Amplitude, and PPI were used for the bio-signal reaction experiment applied to this study. The results of this experiment were measured by Friedman test and Wilcoxon test for statistical analysis. n this study, 'good', 'clear', and 'uncomfortable' words were found statistically significant at the spot of forest healing space for subjective emotional vocabulary. In addition, SDNN, HF and Amplitude were statistically significant in the results of quantitative bio-signal measurement at each spot in the forest healing space. Based on the results of this study, we can suggest the application direction and strategic utilization plan of forest healing spot and forest resource utilization field. This is not only a guide for the users who use the facility through the spatial facilities and physical requirements for the emotion based forest-healing, but also can be used as a personalized emotional space design aspect.

  • The earth is a natural material that has natural healing power,,as a natural ingredient, it brings environmental friendliness, emotional. In this Research, for one of the methods to expand the benefits as a healing space, Construction of the Earth design and earth construction methods have been actively used for effectiveness of the Earth in the construction of the interior with the oriental medical clinic. By utilizing the concept of biophilic design as a healing environment design, symbolizing nature such as color, light, plants, flowers, and natural materials such as earth and wood was directed as oriental medicine interiors. In addition, the space was divided according to the movement of patients and used different Earth construction method to each of the space for the distinction and differentiation according to the characteristics of each space. At this time, the Earth was constructed with materials and finishing materials that meet the highest grade of HB (Healthy Building), an eco-friendly building material certification grade without additives, so that the interior and medical treatment concept can be done at the same time. By using Earth as the basis of elements in the construction, and the design of healing space, patient the concept of Biophillic as a healing environment design. This may serve as a technical, aesthetic, and cultural basis for constructing a healing space by Earth in the future-oriented alternative, it may lead to necessity of eco-friendly and ecological architecture, and it may be an opportunity to expand the application area of earth in architectural design.

  • This research attempts to investigate the geographical approaches on healing, which have been neglected in geography relatively, comprehensively and to examine the meaning of healing in daily life from the viewpoint of the managers of psychological counselling caf$\acute{e}$s. According to the results of this research, exposed healing spaces such as mental clinics or counselling centers are regarded as cultural stigmatic spaces; besides, psychological counselling caf$\acute{e}$s decrease psychological distance or resistance and people calling for healing can access these healing spaces easily. Second, healing spaces from a perspective of modern people mean geographical boundaries as refuges for a brief time; accordingly, the users' activities in psychological counselling caf$\acute{e}$s as instant or unexpected healing spaces in daily life are interpreted as special experiences without any emotional burdens. And these psychological counselling caf$\acute{e}$s are regarded as the spaces where can experience healing repeatedly and continuously. Third, psychological counselling caf$\acute{e}$s were changed into general caf$\acute{e}$s as open spaces; therefore, they can penetrate deeper into daily life rather than others.

  • The ultimate goal of this research is to examine the geographical characteristics of therapeutic spaces where have been appeared in Wa-dong and Gojan-dong, Ansan-si after the disaster of the MV Sewol. As looking into the inside, the aim of the therapeutic spaces, which cover each target group (victims) individually, is various and different because the disaster of the MV Sewol generated various direct and indirect victims requiring healing. The therapeutic spaces are estimated at about 10 organizations and are leaded by private agents predominantly. Furthermore, the therapeutic spaces are located near, but are aside from Danwon high school where many students are reported killed and injured in the incident. And the therapeutic spaces provide simple and repetitive diversions, for example, having a meal, knitting and studying, rather than special programs to restore a broken daily life to the original state. On the basis of such a background, the geographical characteristics of the therapeutic spaces related to the disaster of the MV Sewol can be summarized as follows; first, it seems that target groups accept the therapeutic spaces as the concept of place gradually. Even though most of the therapeutic spaces were suggested by third parties at first, target groups are involved in the management and recollection of their own therapeutic spaces as well as the plan for a future direction now; and consider the therapeutic spaces as exclusive properties. Second, the disaster of the MV Sewol have embedded collective trauma to not only direct victims, but extensive groups such as parents, brothers and sisters, relatives, friends and neighbors as noted earlier. Therefore, the therapeutic spaces support comprehensive target groups; but each therapeutic space is not overlapped each other. However, to solve collective trauma in a local community effectively, the therapeutic spaces are networked closely and build a regular cooperative system. Third, a continuous memory is mentioned as an important point to overcome collective trauma, but some phenomena such as fatigue and conflict with neighbors, out-migrants and a faded atmosphere as time passes act as risk factors in Ansan-si. To keep a continuous memory, the therapeutic spaces attempt the recovery of local communities and devise various events, for example, cultural performances; furthermore, are closely connected with external organizations.

  • In recent years, natural healing space studies have been done in health care and forestry. However, previous studies have focused on healing effects of natural elements in interior space or natural landscape view. And there is a limit to using the evidence for healing space design. The aim of this study is to discover the relationship between types and effects of healing space for evidence-based design. This study compares and analyzes the mayor images, psychological restorativeness, and satisfaction to identify the effects and differences of natural trail, designed trail, natural shelter, and designed shelter by types of forest space. Collected data is analyzed with a factorial analysis, valiance analysis and multiple regression analysis in SPSS 18.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Among five factors consisting psychological restorativeness, natural trail can be achieved with 'being away' and 'compatibility' and designed shelter can be achieved with 'fascination' and 'coherence'., 2) Psychological restorativeness values higher in images with higher excitement, brightness, vitality, and beautifulness as well as in images with lower level of disorder., 3) Among five factors consisting psychological restorativeness, higher forest satisfaction can be achieved with a higher level of 'being away' and 'coherence'. In conclusion, this study contributes to providing fundamental information for design guidelines of healing spaces through identifying the characteristics of healing environment by types of forest space.
