This study was conducted to identify the relationship among the cognitive function of the elderly with dementia in the nursing home and the oral health condition and pathogenic microorganisms in the mouth. Data was collected for a month in February 2019 for 30 people through a non-probable sampling method due to the special nature of dementia elderly people aged 70 years or older, living in nursing homes in Daegu. Technical statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were analyzed using the SPSS window ver. 21.0 program. According to the study, the lower the rating of long - term care classification in nursing homes, the more the number of high-risk oral pathogens, and the more the number of existing permanent teeth, the more the number of microbes in the mouth. However, there was no significant difference in cognitive function. Therefore, it is suggested that oral health care, an elderly dementia people in nursing homes, should have different management methods depending on the oral environment, and also professional managers should be able to manage oral health condition for actual care.

Fifty nine percents of respondents thought that tooth began to be formed before birth. 3. Seventy six percents of respondents thought that infant oral health care should begin before tooth eruption, but actually only 63% started oral hygiene care before age one. 4. Seventy percents of respondents used gauze for infant oral care. 5. Fifty seven percents of respondents still gave bottles to their children after they reached age one or more and 55% of respondents never heard of nursing caries. 6. Ninety percents of respondents agreed that carious deciduous teeth need restorations, and 31% of respondents thought that age two is the appropriate time for the first dental visit. 7. Forty seven percents of parents did not think that dental caries is an infectious disease. 8. Only Thirty three percents of parents visited dental clinics for examination and prevention during pregnancy and only 11% of expecting parents were offered dental health care education in pediatric or obstetrician clincs. 9. Information about oral health care was mostly given from baby megazines. 10. Overall parental knowledge about infant oral health care was not sufficient to maintain appropriate dental care for infants.

Nowadays, the development of dental scanner and CAD/CAM technology can facilitate the fabrication of hybrid prosthesis. Double scanning technique, scanning a trial prosthesis and master model, made it possible to realize virtual design and simplify the laboratory work. Instead of using the metal or zirconia framework with composite, ceramic or denture tooth, the new high performance polymer Polyetherketoneketone (Pekkton, Cendres+$M{\acute{e}}taux$, Biel, Switzerland) as a framework with Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) veneering teeth (Visio-lign, Bredent, Senden, Germany) was used in this case. This case report showed an acceptable treatment outcome and satisfaction of patient using Pekkton and Visio-lign. However, long term clinical evaluation is needed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of oral health status on daily life of elderly women. The subjects of this study were 142 elderly women aged 60 years or older who were surveyed through questionnaires, interviews, counseling, and oral examinations. The SPSS program was used for frequency analysis, descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The results of the study showed that the number affected on daily life were 1.4 in average and the oral health condition was the highest at scaling (59.4%). When the oral status was unsatisfactory, it was found to be uncomfortable in daily life. In case of oral pain, oral status and poor removal of calculus, the number and frequency in daily life were increased. In conclusion, the oral health of elderly women can improve their daily life ability and affect the quality of life. Therefore, a systematic oral care plan is needed through the expansion of oral health promotion education for elderly women and the development of continuous preventive programs.
This study was conducted to identify an influence of subjective oral health status and oral health literacy on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in elderly. Participants in this cross-sectional survey were 248 aged over 65 older people in Jecheon city. Data were collected from July. 3 to 21, 2016 using the self-report questionnaire. Subjective oral health status, oral health literacy and oral health-related quality of life were measured. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that subjective oral health status, oral health literacy, cohabitant, the number of teeth, education level and religion significantly predicted OHRQoL in the elderly people, explaining 44.3% of the variance. Therefore, health care providers should consider that interventions preventing tooth loss and improving oral health status and oral health literacy are required to enhance the OHRQoL in the elderly people.
The purpose of this study is to investigate correlation between experience of visiting the dentist and oral symptoms with 10,701 high school seniors in the research data of the 8th juvenile online health behavior carried out in 2012. The results of this research showed that the lower academic grades, the more tooth crack they experienced, and the lower economic conditions, the more toothache they tended to experience. The main reasons they visited the dentist were because their teeth ached, tingled or throbbed with pain. Scores of oral symptoms, sex, economic conditions and the number of experience of visiting the dentist were found to have a significant correlation. In order to improve high school students' dental health continually, we need to install the school dental health room and need to systemize continuous dental health care system for high school students, along with development of various school dental health education programs, by vitalizing prevention based school dental health education.
ACR phantom for quality control of magnetic resonance imaging equipment can evaluate magnetic resonance imaging picture quality through various structures within the phantom. In this study, percent Signal Ghosting and Slice position accuracy of imaging could be analyzed by attaching implant and the wire for correction of tooth using ACR phantom in Head coil of 3.0T equipment. In the T1 weighted imaging of the first slice and the eleventh slice of implant, the slice position accuracy appeared to be good in ingress bandwidth 300, and it was good in ingress bandwidth 130 when wire for correction was attached. Percent Signal Ghosting in the seventh slice of SE T1 weighted imaging, implant and wire for correction added all appeared to be good when ingress bandwidth was 230. It is thought that in case of implant dental prosthesis patients in brain exam using magnetic resonance imaging, optimum image can be obtained by changing ingress bandwidth.
This study was conducted to analyze the impact factors of serious dental disease of elderly and to propose the need to treatments of negative factors on oral health-related quality of life. This study used the data of the 6th 3nd-year(2015) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The dependent variables of this study were reviewed for serious dental diseases, and the independent variables were divided into demographic characteristics, health status and behavior, oral health status, and behavior. The results of study were as follow. Factors influencing dental caries was household income(p<.01), health checkups(p<.05), experience of toothache for the recent 1 year(p<.05), and whether to use oral hygiene devices(p<.05). Factors influencing periodontal disease was age(p<.05), occupation(p<.05), and whether to Comorbidity(p<.05). Based on these results, a political alternative plan will need to be arranged for promoting oral health in the aged as a relevant research is vitalized.
Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the usability, quality, and usefulness of the mobile application, CAMBRA-kids, for caries management in preschoolers. Methods: Ninety-one caregivers and preschoolers participated in the user evaluation of CAMBRA-kids. The evaluators assessed the usability, quality, and usefulness of CAMBRA-kids. The collected data were analyzed using R studio 1.2.1335 for Windows (RStudio Inc. 2018, Boston, MA, USA). The evaluations for usability, quality, and usefulness were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test, and Wilcoxon rank sum test. Results: On user evaluation, the quality and usefulness of the application scored >3 points, and majority of the users rated the quality and usefulness of the application as high. The quality of the application's system was the highest at 3.68 points, and the actual usage of the application was the lowest at 3.10 points. The application had the highest technological aspect score of 3.20, whereas the content related to oral health information had the lowest score of 3.10/5. Although the application showed no statistically significant differences in the quality and usefulness according to general characteristics, there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) between the two when compared between the caries risk group. For all items, the protector of the high-risk group evaluated the quality and usefulness of the application highly. The moderate risk group gave the lowest evaluation score for the application's quality and usefulness. The usability score of the application, according to the user version of the mobile application rating scale (uMARS), was 3.25, and the average engagement score was 2.82 (56.31%). The highest subscale score was 3.63. Conclusions: In this study, we found suitable quality, usability, and usefulness of the mobile application, CAMBRA-kids. In future, the use of this application will contribute to the prevention of dental caries among preschoolers.
