One or two mesiodens are mostly common to the clinician. However, three mesiodens is rarely found and can cause complications such as orthodontic problems or interruptions of the adjacent teeth with more than 1 or 2 mesiodens. Many factors cause irregularities in the permanent dentition. Mesiodens, especially in the anterior maxilla, can disturb the eruption of adjacent permanent teeth and cause diastemas, ectopic eruptions, root resorption, or the formation of dentigerous cysts. The early diagnosis of mesiodens is important for preventing such complications, and the timing of intervention should be based on their location and number. Periodic checkups and improved diagnostic devices make it easy to find mesiodens and associated complications. In this case, 3 supernumerary teeth in the maxillary anterior region were affecting the eruption of the adjacent permanent incisors. To minimize complications and preserve the deciduous teeth, the three supernumerary teeth were extracted in 2 steps. Since cone-beam computed tomography was not available, a brace wire was used to measure the depth of the mesiodens.

The incidence of childhood cancer is greatest in the first year of life. Early diagnosis and advances in medicine have significantly improved outcomes of treatment resulting in higher survival rate; however, this progress comes at the expense of a higher incidence of adverse side effects because of more aggressive antineoplastic treatment strategies. The oral cavity, a trauma-prone environment, is extremely sensitive to toxicities from antineoplastic agents. Oral health care specialists, including pediatric and hospital dentists can support the oncology team by providing basic oral care, implementing oral care protocols, delivering emergency dental treatment, and assisting and/or managing oral complications from cancer therapy. This article covers the considerations in the dental management of pediatric patients undergoing cancer treatment, specifically chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shape and impacted pattern of mesiodens and associated complications using three dimensional images produced by dental CBCT. This study was based on the CBCT (CB Mercury, Hitachi, Tokyo, Japan) radiographic view of 280 pediatric patients who visited the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Chosun University Dental Hospital with the chief complain of mesiodens during between 2007 and 2012. Impacted mesiodens occurs more frequently in boys than in girls, the ratio being approximately 3.3:1 and most cases were observed between 6 and 8 years of age. The number of mesiodens per patient was 1.38. Majority of the mesiodens were conical (79.5%) in shape and inverted (48.6%) in direction. The mesio-distal position of mesiodens were the most common in middle sector (81.8%), vertical level were the most common near cervical (60.3%), and labio-palatal position were the most common at palatal side of the dental arch (73.8%). 47.5% of mesiodens had complications and common complications associated with mesiodens were displaced tooth and delayed eruptions. The shape, vertical level, and labio-palatal position of mesiodens had correlations with complications. CBCT appears to be an excellent diagnostic tool, providing three dimensional information and accurate images, for diagnosis of impacted mesiodens.
The pneumomediastinum after a dental treatment occurs rarely and shows almost good prognosis, however it is potentially life-threatening complication. Here we report a case of pneumomediastinum, occurred by air bubbles originated from dental high speed equipment, via head and neck fascial space with literatures review.

Natal teeth that are already present at birth and neonatal teeth that erupt shortly after birth may cause various complications. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the characteristics of natal/neonatal teeth in Korean infants who visited to Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital from 2006 to 2015. A retrospective review of clinical data, including the sex of the patients, chief complaints of the mothers, clinical appearances and locations of the natal/neonatal teeth, and associated complications and treatments, was collected. Overall, a total of 75 teeth were found in 48 patients and 69% of the infants had natal teeth, while 31% had neonatal teeth, all of which were mandibular incisors. Females showed more natal/neonatal teeth than males. Major reasons for visiting the dental clinic were parental anxiety, referrals from other clinics, Riga-Fede disease, and pain during breastfeeding. Extraction was the most common treatment choice; observation and grinding were also used.

We tried to find out the information which can be drawn from the survey of general anesthesia in pediatric clinic at Seoul National University dental hospital from 1997 to 1999. The subjects were 37 patients Collected data were primary reasons for general anesthesia, preoperative physical status, age distribution, peformed dental treatment, complications, follow-up, and etc. Following were the results: (1) Most(97%) of patients treated under general anesthesia were handicapped and preoperative physical status was ASA Class I or Class II. (2) Majority(41%) of patients were between 11 and 15. (3) Average of 8.1teeth were restored and 3.3teeth were extracted. (4) In 32% of patients, there were mild complications. (5) 12(32%) of the patients responded to the six-month recall check.

Although tooth wear is a normal process due to aging, severe tooth wear causes various complications such as increased tooth sensitivity, loss of tooth structure, and pulp complications. In the treatment of patients with excessive tooth wear, the evaluation of loss of vertical occlusal dimension should be prioritized. If it is necessary to increase the vertical dimension to secure the restoration space, it is important to establish a treatment plan with the comprehensive analysis and determine the minimum vertical dimension elevation. In this case, 66-year-old male patient with severe worn dentition wanted to restore masticatory function and improve esthetic restoration. In order to determine the appropriate vertical dimension of the patient, we evaluated oral examination, radiographic examination, and diagnostic cast examination, and performed rehabilitation with minimum vertical dimension elevation. As a result of observation for 8 months, the definitive prosthesis was completed with contact of all teeth in centric occlusion, and proper anterior/posterior guidance. Through the above process, satisfactory aesthetic and functional outcomes were obtained.
