Mini-dental implants for overdenture applications are increasingly popular due to their ease in placement with simplified, less traumatic surgical protocols in limited-width alveolar ridges. However, the clinical decisions including implant number, position, and loading protocol must be based on a thorough evaluation and evidence-based diagnosis. Herein, we reported a case treated with the current method of mandibular mini-implant supported overdenture.

In an extensive oral rehabilitation, determining a proper occlusal vertical dimension is a critical step and the starting point for successful treatment. Since changing the occlusal vertical dimension could be time-consuming, financially challenging, and physically demanding for both clinicians and patients, multi-faceted analysis and careful consideration are essential in the diagnosis and further treatment process. The purpose of this narrative review is to discuss the occlusal vertical dimension and its current issues, and to summarize previous methods of evaluating occlusal vertical dimension to propose clinical guidance for determining a viable occlusal vertical dimension for full-mouth rehabilitation.

This study was conducted to provide baseline data which could suggest a direction of role based efficient integrated clinical education by avoiding duplicate of contents through analyzing clinical courses. Among the 7 clinical courses, orthodontics and periodontology were the most published subjects which were published in 5 kinds of books and dental materials was the least published subject which was published in 2 kinds of books on investigation of overlapping contents based on titles that appeared on chapters and verses of all textbooks for clinical courses. Dental implant was covered in 4 subjects such as oral maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics, periodontology and dental materials which was the most number. Other overlapping contents were restoration treatment, occlusion and malocclusion, temporomandibular joint diseases, anesthesia sedation, tooth trauma, systemic disease and dental treatment, dental casting, isolation techniques, tooth bleaching, pulp protection, gingivitis periodontitis, tooth development, etc. Reviews of textbooks of clinical courses should be conducted in a detailed manner by systematic, various studies in order to improve quality of the textbooks.

치아형태라고 하면 따분하고 재미없는 것으로 생각하기 쉽지만, 치과임상에서 아주 중요한 기초를 형성하고 있다. 지대치형성은 치과보철수복의 첫 단계로서, 좋은 지대치형성은 좋은 보철물로 연결된다. 또한 치과보철 수복의 대부분은 원래의 치아형태수복에 맞추어져 있어서, 치아형태와 지대치형성은 많은 상관성을 가지고 있을 것이라고 유추해 볼 수 있다. 그러나 통상적으로 알고 있는 치아형태는 교합변형태로만 인식하고 있어서, 지대치형성시 치아형태가 큰 도움을 주지는 못하는 실정에 있다. 물론 교합면형태도 중요하지만 그외의 여러형태도 치과임상에 있어서 결코 무시할 수 없다. 필자는 지대치형성에서 고려해야 할 치아형태와 임상적 중요성에 대해서 언급하여 치과의사선생님들의 임상에 도움을 주고자 한다.

The objective of this research was to analyze curriculum of dental hygiene education program for B.S degree in US and compare with Korea and Japan. The curriculum was classified six domain based on job classification and National Board Examination in Korea. Oral biology content included oral anatomy,dental anatomy,oral histology,oral pathology. Oral physiology was excluded. Clinical dentistry content included only oral radiology, periodontics, dental material,pain control. Most program integrated clinical dental hygiene courses. Most program provided dental practice management content and dental hygiene research courses. Diverse program such as A.S degree,B.S degree,degree completion,distance education programs enabled students to develop their career effectively.

치과보철학 분야에서 컴퓨터를 이용한 기술의 발달로 치료 계획, 수술, 보철물 수복에 이르기까지 CAD-CAM의 광범위한 적용이 가능해지고 있으며, 비용과 시간의 절약으로 효율적인 진료가 가능하다는 점을 인지한 많은 회사들의 투자로 다양한 프로그램과 기계들이 소개되고 있다. 그러나, 이렇게 활발한 제품 개발에도 불구하고 아직 실제 임상으로의 적용은 보편화되었다고 보기는 어려운데, 가장 큰 이유는 정확도에 대한 의심과 복잡하다고 느껴지는 초기의 숙련 과정에 있다고 하겠다. 제작회사들의 보고에 따르면 컴퓨터를 이용하여 디자인하고 절삭하는 것이 기존의 주조 기술보다 더 정교하다고 하였으나, 실제 임상에서는 미세한 오차를 간과한 데서 오는 최종 결과물과의 차이를 얘기하는 임상가들이 있는 것이 현실이다. 또, 그 사용 재료에 있어서도 초기 티타늄 금속 재료에 이어 심미적 요구를 위한 알루미나, 보다 향상된 강도를 가진 지르코니아에 이르기까지 다양한 재료들이 쏟아져 나오고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 다양한 CAD-CAM 시스템 중 대표적인 것 중의 하나인 Nobel Biocare사의 $Procera^{(R)}$ 시스템을 중심으로 지르코니아 수복물에 관한 최신 정보를 제공하며, 그 다양한 치과적 적용을 누구나 쉽고 정확하게 사용할 수 있는 임상 증례와 함께 소개함으로써 실제 임상 적용에 도움이 되고자 한다.
