The aim of this investigation was to study the effect of orthodontic force on the flow of gingival crevicular fluid and activities of arylsulfatase and brta-glucuronidase in crevicular fluid. The material consisted of 12 persons between the ages of 13 years and 22 years and all were categorized Class I, 4-4 extraction cases Crevicular fluids were sampled from distal crevis of each canine before treatment (phase 1), after bracketing (phase 2), after application of force (phase 3) and after run out of orthodontic force (phase 4). Crevicular fluid flow did not show any significant changes during the period of treatment. The activities of arylsulfatase increased significantly after setting of orthodontic appliance without application of force, but did not show any significant difference after application of force. The activities of beta-glucuronidase increased significantly after application of orthodontic force and decreased with force deminished. These indicated that beta-glucuronidase was good indicator of bone remodelling resulted from initial orthodontic force.

In evaluation of some area within the craniofacial complex posteroanterior cephalogram together with lateral cephalogram is used for assessment of the exact existence and posture by grasping 3-dimensional concept. The usages of posteroanterior cephalogram in orthodontics are following; 1. The use during diagnosis and treatment planning 1) Assessment of the area and amount of facial asymmetry. 2) Assessment of therapeutic position for diagnosis and treatment 2. The Assessment of success in orthodontic mechanics If we use posteroanterior cephalogram together with lateral cephalogram adequately and simultaneously we can establish the exact diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning.

Distribution of orthodontic patients in pediatric dental clinics has increased recently. So it is worth to study about the present status of orthodontic patients in pediatric dental clinics. The purpose of this study was to recognize the characteristics and orthodontic patterns of orthodontic patients in pediatric dental clinics. The material consisted of distribution and orthodontic analysis records of 792 new patients in the department of pediatric dentistry, Seoul National University Dental Hospital, from 2006 to 2008. Results were as follows 1. In age distribution, 8-year-olds group comprised 22%, 7-year-olds 19%, 9-year-olds 16%, 10-year olds 15%, 11-year-olds 11%, and other age groups comprised 18%. 2. In skeletal patterns, skeletal class I patients comprised 52%, class II 29%, and class III 19%. 3. In vertical facial types mesofacial comprised 41%, brachyfacial 35%, and dolichofacial 24%. 4. Out of 792 patients 218 patients(28%) showed anterior cross-bite, and the occurrence ratio of anterior cross-bite increased as the age decreased.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the compomer cement and resin cement as an orthodontic band cement on zirconia crown. A total of 30 specimens were prepared. Preformed stainless steel crowns and zirconia crowns of upper right second primary molar were used. Orthodontic bands were cemented on stainless steel crowns (Group I, n = 10) and zirconia crowns (Group II, n = 10) with compomer cement. The other bands were cemented on zirconia crowns with resin cement (Group III, n = 10). The tensile loads were applied to band to measure the bond strength. The mean of bond strengths of group I, II and III were 0.79 MPa, 1.09 MPa and 1.56 MPa respectively. Bond strength of group II is significantly higher than group I. There was no significant difference between group II and III. Compomer cement and resin cement containing functional monomers showed favorable bond strength of orthodontic bands.

Intentional replantation has been used for alternative treatment for conventional root canal therapy. This case report describes that the intentional replantation with application of extrusive orhodontic force for 6 weeks, on which tooth of previous root canal therapy. As preapplicatory orthodontic force, tooth moblity was increased so that extraction of the designated tooth was more easily accomplished and augmented volume of periodontal ligament is expected to acceleated gingival reattachment.

Decalcification of the buccal surface of the teeth often occurs during fixed orthodontic treatment. This case report describes two cases in which cervical decalcificated teeth that occurred during orthodontic treatment were treated with direct resin veneer restoration. Early lesions without caries can be remineralized through periodic fluoride application, diet control, and oral hygiene improvement. As it progresses, appropriate repair treatment is required, and it is more preferable to focus on prevention rather than treatment after the occurrence of the lesion.
