Transient Analysis of High-rise Wall-Frame Structures with Outriggers under Seismic Load (초고층 전단벽-골조 아웃리거 구조시스템의 지진하중에 대한 시간이력해석)

  • In this paper, the seismic behavior of shear wal-frame systems is analyzed. The governing equations of the wall-frame systems with outrigger truss are formulated through the continuum approach and the whole structure is idealized as a shear-flexural cantileverwith rotational spring. The effect of shear deformation and flexural deformation of the wall-frame and outrigger trusses are considered and incorporated in the formulation of the wall-frame structures with and without outriggers are compared by using finite element analysis incorporated with the Newmark-${\beta}$ method. Numerical results are obtained and compared with the finite element package MIDAS. The proposed method is found to be simple and efficient, and provides reason ably accurate results in the early design stage of tall building structures.

The Limiting Drift and Energy Dissipation Ratio for Shear Walls Based on Structural Testing (전단벽의 최소 층변위 및 에너지 소산성능)

  • Recently, new experimental criteria for reinforced concrete frame structures in high seismic regions have been reported in United States. The objective of the criteria is to get more reliable test data which are valid to compare with other test data done by different researchers. The criteria precribe test method of specimens, analysis method of test data, and limiting values needed to specimens like drift angle, energey dissipation ratio, stiffness, and strength. These criteria might be usefel to get objective conclusion. Shear wall structures, which belong to one of earthquake resisting systems, also need this kind of criteria. But, the general response of shear wall structures is a little bit different from that of frame structures since shear wall restrains the horizontal displacement caused by horizontal force and increases the stiffness and strength. The objective of this paper is to propose a criterion for limiting drift and energy dissipation ratio of shear walls based on structural testing. These are the most important values for presenting the capacity of shear walls. Limiting drift and energy dissipation ratios were examined for tests on shear walls having ductile type failures. Test data were analyzed and compared to the results for a suggested acceptance criteria that involve a limiting drift that is a function of aspect ratio and a limiting energy dissipation ratio that is a function of displacement ductility and damping.

Determination of the Thickness of RC Shear Wall Outriggers (콘크리트 전단벽 아웃리거의 두께 산정)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the way to determine the thickness of RC shear wall outriggers of tall buildings. For this, the analysis models of tall buildings with 60 stories are generated and analyzed. Then the changes of load transfer and deformation caused by the outriggers are investigated and the equation for the determination of the thickness of RC shear wall outriggers is proposed. Finally, the proposed equation is verified for the variously modified analysis models.

Control Effectiveness of Shear Walls Connected by Beams with Friction Dampers (인방보에 마찰형 감쇠기가 설치된 전단벽의 제진효과)

  • Numerical analysis of shear walls governed by flexural behavior is conducted for the seismic control performance of proposed friction dampers installed at the center of coupling beams. Control effectiveness of shear walls connected by beams with the proposed dampers are compared for single shear wall with same flexural rigidity. Average responses of the shear walls with the dampers are found with seven scaled-downed earthquakes based on KEC 2005 design spectrum. Slip load is the most important design parameter. It is designed to be 5, 10, 20, 30, 60, 90% of total vertical shear force at damper location to prevent damper slip in specific stories. Nonlinear time-history analysis is conducted by using SeismoStruct analysis program. Seismic control performance of the dampers is evaluated for base shear, energy dissipation, curvature and top-floor displacement. Results show that the dampers are the most effective in reducing the responses when their total slip load is 30% of total vertical shear force.

  • 본 논문에서는 초고층 전단벽-아웃리거 시스템에 대해, 기존의 근사해석법과 유전알고리즘을 이용하여, 물량최적설계 기반의 구성요소 단면 및 아웃리거 최적위치 결정에 관해 연구를 진행하였다. 아웃리거 시스템의 최적성은 아웃리거의 위치와 아웃리거 시스템을 구성하는 전단벽-아웃리거, 외곽기둥의 단면 성능의 복잡한 관계에 의해 역학적으로 결정된다. 하지만 기존의 아웃리거 시스템의 최적화 연구는 대부분 전단벽과 아웃리거, 외곽기둥의 단면은 고정된 상태에서, 아웃리거의 위치만 설계변수로 하여 아웃리거의 최적위치를 찾는 연구에 국한되어 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 G.A.를 이용하여, 아웃리거 설치위치뿐만 아니라 전단벽과 아웃리거, 외곽기둥의 단면까지 설계변수로 하여 물량최적설계 조건을 만족시키는 아웃리거시스템의 최적설계 연구를 진행하였다. 또한 반복 계산의 시간을 줄이기 위해 기존의 근사해석법을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 초고층 구조물의 초기 설계 시에 구성요소의 단면 및 아웃리거 설치 층의 선정에 적극 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Effect of Shear Wall Stiffness on Optimal Location of Core and Offset Outrigger Considering Floor Diaphragm (바닥 격막을 고려한 코어 및 오프셋 아웃리거 구조의 최적위치에 대한 전단벽 강성의 영향)

  • The study purposed to investigate the optimal location of core and offset outrigger system considering floor diaphragm. To accomplish this aim, a structure design of 70 stories building was performed by using MIDAS-Gen. And the leading factors of the analysis research were the slab stiffness, the stiffness of shear wall and the outrigger position in plan. Based on the analysis results, we analyzed and studied the influences of the shear wall stiffness and the slab stiffness on optimal location of core and offset outrigger considering floor diaphragm. The results of the analysis study indicated whether the slab stiffness, the stiffness of shear wall and the outrigger position in plan had an any impact on optimal location in outrigger system of tall building. Also the paper results can give help in getting the structural engineering materials for looking for the optimal position of outrigger system in the high-rise building.

Development of Stiffness Estimation Algorithm for Nonlinear Static Analysis of Bilinear Material Model (전단벽 모형화 방법에 따른 구조해석 신뢰성에 대한 고찰)

  • When structural analysis modelling methods of practical fields are investigated, a slab is generally modeled by a finite element mesh using plate elements and a shear wall is modeled using a shell element or wall element for 3-D structural analysis. The point worthy of notice in this practice is that a shear wall is modelled using only one wall or shell element divided by floors and column lines to produce structural models. The modeling method like this can cause analysis errors according to the type of computer programs in use, and these errors reduce the reliability of the analysis results. Therefore, to secure the reliability of structural analysis, studies of the causes of errors and finding reasonable modeling methods are necessary. In this study, the causes of analysis errors according to the modelling methods of a shear wall, which are used in practical fields, were investigated and some considering matters for modelling a shear wall are presented to reduce the analysis errors on these analysis results.

Dynamic Analysis of RC Piloti-Type Building Subjected to Earthquake Loads (지진하중이 작용하는 RC 필로티 건축물의 동적해석)

  • Piloti-type buildings in Korea are usually composed of lower frames and upper shear wall structures. Piloti-type buildings have been seriously damaged during earthquakes because of the construction of soft and weak stories. Piloti-type buildings with edge cores are two-way unsymmetric planes. This paper analyzed and obtained the dynamic response for structures modeled using a multistory two-way asymmetric system. The numerical results, obtained using the Newmark-β method, show the time-history responses and trends of maximum displacements and shear forces. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of reinforcement on dynamic response when a shear wall or brace is reinforced in the corner opposite the piloti.

A Seismic Behavior of a 3-dimensional Irregular Setback Structure (3차원 비정형 Setback 구조물의 지진 거동)

  • Seismic behavior of 3-dimensional setback structures showing abrupt reductions of the floor size within the structure height and the effect of in-plane deformations of floor slabs on the seismic behavior of those structures are investigated. To find out general seismic behavior of 3-dimensional setback structures two parameters, level of setback(L/sub s/) and degree of setback(R/sub s/) are used. Analysis results obtained from forty eight setback structures show that a sudden change in story shear near setback level is occurred for irregular setback structures. The effect of in-plane deformation of floor slabs on the seismic behavior of setback structures is greatly influenced by the arrangement of lateral load resisting elements and it is more pronounced for frame-shear wall system showing large difference in stiffness among the lateral load resisting elements. The in-plane deformation of floor slabs results in reduced base shear, especially for FW-type structures with L/sub s/=1.0. Also, it brings about reduced story shear for the lateral load resisting element with shear wall and increase in story shear lot the lateral load resisting element without shear wall. The in-plane deformation of floor slabs at the base portion and/or tower portion due to difference in stiffness among the lateral load resisting elements brings about increment of floor displacements at all floor level.

An Experimental Study of Flow Characteristics Past vortical wall with Bottom Gap (수직벽 하부에 있는 틈새 후방의 유동특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The turbulent shear flaw around a surface-mounted vertical wall was investigated using the two-frame PIV(CACTUS 3.1) system. From this study, it is revealed that at least 500 instantaneous velocity field data are required for ensemble average to get reliable turbulence statistics, but only 200 field data are sufficient for the time-averaged mean velocity information The flow has an unsteady recirculation region post vertical wall with bottom gap, followed by a slow relaxation to the fiat-plate boundary layer flow. The time-averaged reattachment length estimated from the streamline distribution is about x/H=3H. The large eddy structure in the separated shear layer seems to have signification influence on the development of the separated shear layer and the reattachment process.
