  • This study proposes fusion image matching method according to land cover property to generate a detailed DEM using the high resolution IKONOS-2 stereo pair. A classified image, consists of building, crop-land, forest, road and shadow-water, is produced by color image with four bands. Edges and points are also extracted from panchromatic image. Matching is performed by the cross-correlation computing after five classes are automatically selected in a reference image. In each of building class, crop-land class, forest class and road class, matching was performed by the grid and edge, only grid, only grid, grid and point, respectively. Shadow-water class was excepted in the matching because this area causes excessive error of the DEM. As the results, edge line, building and residential area could be expressed more dense than DEM by the conventional method.

  • This study was conducted as a part of investigating pre-reclamation shorelines from aerial photographs to estimate coastal land area at reclaimed lands (Anjeong industrial complex, Myeongji residental complex, and Noksan industrial complex), southeastern coast of Korea. To assess how the shorelines were suitable for the calculation of coastal lands, we constructed shoreline change data. Secondary ground control points were used to accomplish triangulation for old aerial photographs. Two kinds of shorelines were mapped; one was the shoreline based on approximately highest high water level (AHHWL) and the other was the high water line based on wet/dry signiture. These shorelines were consistent at artificial coast. Shoreline change data were built with a variety of levels of error due to detailed differences in the photograph scale, quality of image, type of ground control point and type of shoreline. Thus assessment of the pre-reclamation shorelines at the level of qualitative analysis for the trend of shoreline changes was satisfactory. Most of shoreline changes before reclamation in this study were associated with coastal development. Investigation of shoreline attributes in relation to aerial photographs allowed us to understand the shoreline changes.

  • Conventional procedures to determine vertical deflections and astronomical coordinates require the stellar observations which be under restraints of clear night-time weather conditions, surrounding environment, long observation time and the use of instruments, etc. Therefore the more effective observation method subjugatting these problems has requested. The objective of this study is to propose method to compute vertical deflections, astronomical coordinates(latitude and longitude), and astronomical azimuth by mixing GPS observation results and orthometric heights. For this study, programmed the program which able to obtain the change in geoid undulation by using the GPS- determined geodetic height difference and the orthometric height difference, and GPS satellite surveying was performed at both ten points of astronomical points and four triangulation points around each astronomical station in South Korea. The Astronomical results determined from GPS observations compared to those determined from both conventional astronomical measurements and the recent earth gravitational Model(EGM96).

  • The modelling technique on the terrain of real-world in geo-spatial information system is a primary element for geo-information processing. This paper is designed to make use of TIN in geo-spatial information system and study the development and application of high-precision 3-D spatial analysis technique applied to terrain features. According to this research, MODEL 3 applied to breakline in mild slope/steep slope and MODEL 2 applied to peak in complex region show relatively low RMSE. This consequence proves that these two models have high precision in comparison with other models. This study also finds out optimal routines in the estimation method of slope grade and in the construction method of surface. N_T, LSP_T and LSQ_T in mild slope, N_T in steep slope, and LSQ_T in complex region turn out to be the optimal routines for high-precision 3-D spatial analysis.

  • In the paper, we try to develop the methodology for updating road networks of large-scale digital maps by using construction drawing data. For the purpose, it is pre-requite step to merge road networks detached in CAD drawing data. As such, tie points are identified in neighboring drawings and used for solving the parameters of 2D conformal transformation between drawings. Then, the merged road network in CAD data is transformed to the coordinate system of digital maps. In the process, IPs in the drawings are considered as control information and 2D affine transformation is selected for coordinate transformation. Through the experiments with real dataset, we can identify that the developed method is valid and generally applicable.

  • In this paper, we propose two algorithm for improving the performance of wireless localization(Trilateration and Least Square) based on the range based approach method in indoor environment using RSSI for ranging distance. we propose a method to discriminate the case that has relatively large estimation errors in trilateration using Heron''s formula for the volume of a tetrahedron. And we propose the algorithm to process the discriminated types of distance using the absolute value calculated by Heron''s formula. In addition, we propose another algorithm for the case of which the number of anchor nodes larger than three. In this case, Residual Weighting Factor(RWGH) improves the performance of Least Square. However, RWGH requires many number of calculations. In this paper, we propose Iterative Weighted Centroid Algorithm(IWCA) that has better performance and less calculation than RWGH. We show the improvement of performance for two algorithms and the combination of these algorithm by using simulation results.

  • The increased availability of portable, low-cost, high resolution video equipments have resulted in a rapid growth of the applications for video sequences. These video devices can be mounted in handhold unit, mobile unit and airborne platforms like maned or unmaned helicopter, plane, airship, etc. This paper describes the feasibility fur generating image map from the experimental results we designed to track the interested points extracted by KLT operator in the neighboring frames and implement image matching for each frames taken from UAV (Unmaned Aerial Vehicle). In the image registration for neighbourhood frames of aerial video, the results demonstrate the successful rate of matching slightly decreases as the drift between frames increases, and also that the stable photographing is more important matching condition than the pixel shift.

  • A new simple method to estimate the earth quantity which is basic data for making the plan of mountain forest road is tried to develop as one of ways to reduce time cost of plan making. The zero-line surveying method, the concept of 2/3 road width in cut-away part and of same quantity between cut-away and fill-up earth which are the backgrounds to develop this method is introduced and explaned also it's theoritical propriety. Under the precondition which have to apply above concepts for constructing the mountain forest road the exchange table for estimating the earth quantity is made like table 3 and 4 through being calculated by a trigonometric function. Table 3 can be used to estimate the earth quantity on the cut-away road-width according to slope of terrain and different road-width, and table 4 can be applied to calculate the quantity of cut-away earth when to know the road-width of cut-away. When using these tables the performance of field surveying and office work for road plan will be highly increased.

  • We intend to increase in eficiency of the topographic monitoring of seabed or riverbed by combinedwith DGPS, RTK GPS and echo sounder. For this study, we defined the error corection of the echo sounder with the experiment of water tank, which is considered the characteristic of estuary riverbedand then we developed the s/w for 3-dimensional monitoring of estuary riverbed and aplied the s/wto field test and improved the various problems. On analyzing topography of estuary riverbed by combinedby the movement of survey vessel to the end of the transducer was eliminated by geometrical rearangementand we defined the corection formula, . The sounding error about the echo sounder and characteristic of estuary riverbed was found by understanding the relation of average diameter and residual error and we defined corection formula, Y=-0.0474*ln(X) -0.045 by the regression analysis. and then we verified applicability of corection formula. This study that by Visual Basic must be useful applied in the topographic analysis of the estuary riverbed.

  • Camera calibration is the process of determining the parameters such as the focal length of a camera, the position of a principal point, and lens distortions. For this purpose, images of checkerboard have been mainly used. When targets were automatically recognized in checkerboard image, the existing studies had limitations in that the user should have a good understanding of the input parameters for recognizing the target or that all checkerboard should appear in the image. In this study, a methodology for automatic target recognition was proposed. In this method, even if only a part of the checkerboard image was captured using rectangles including eight blobs, four each at the central portion and the outer portion of the checkerboard, the index of the target can be automatically assigned. In addition, there is no need for input parameters. In this study, three conditions were used to automatically extract the center point of the checkerboard target: the distortion of black and white pattern, the frequency of edge change, and the ratio of black and white pixels. Also, the direction and numbering of the checkerboard targets were made with blobs. Through experiments on two types of checkerboards, it was possible to automatically recognize checkerboard targets within a minute for 36 images.
