  • This study analyzes the effects of individual Competence on job-seeking activities and employment. For the sake of empirical study, we have used microdata public data provided by the National Statistics Office of Korea, which is composed of 731,852 people. Empirical results were obtained by applying structured equation model with using job-seeking activities as a mediating variable. Results showed that those three variables such as age, level of education, and specialty had a significant effect on job-seeking activities and employment. Especially, we found practical implication that regardless of gender, it becomes likelier that individuals can find jobs when their job-seeking periods are shorter. Also, level of education has positive effects to employment. The limitation is that these results are not associated to data which has the quality of employment and that they do not reflect the uniqueness of 2018. In this sense, job-seeking support education programs by local governments need to be designed out of this implication.

  • This study focus on unemployment and nonparticipation of youth. By dividing youth nonparticipants into 'house work and child care', 'studying and training', 'the others' categories, we estimate the potential wages with selectivity bias model and analyse the factors of choosing unemployment or nonparticipation with multinomial logit model. The differences between the potential market wage and the desired wage of the groups of 'studying and training', 'the others' in the nonparticipants are greater than those of the unemployment group. In the case of the man and lower age, and low schooling the differences of potential and desire wage are larger than woman and higher age, and high schooling. In the choice of unemployment and nonparticipation, man and higher age, and householder, and holder of qualification are not likely to opt nonparticipation. The experience of job lower the rate of probability to choose employment, but raise the rate of probability to choose unemployment and nonparticipation. These results mean that the quality of youth employment is very inferior.

  • This study identified predictors of intention to work among people with disabilities who maintain economic inactivity for two successive years by analyzing a total of 2,255 Participants in the 2014 data of the Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED) with through $X^2$, t test, logistic regression. To explore factors affecting intention to work among people with disabilities who maintain economic inactivity, this study hypothesized the effectiveness of variables of demographic, disability, human resources, psycho-social factors based on previous studies. The analysis showed that male, spouse-being, low income status out of demographic variables were related to high probability of having intention to work among people with disabilities who maintain economic inactivity. In case of disability variables, experiencing disability-related discrimination significantly predicted the probability of having intention to work. However, the relationship between disability-related discrimination experiences and high intention to work needs to be viewed as correlated rather than cause-and-effect.In addition, literacy related to computer use/English proficiency/interpersonal and adaptation skills(human resources), experiences of vocational rehabilitation services (human resources), self-esteem (psycho-social) significantly predicted the probability of having intention to work among people with disabilities who maintained economic inactivity. Based on these results, support services for females with disabilities, effective rehabilitation programs of improving literacy related to computer use/English proficiency/interpersonal and adaptation skills and self-esteem, general expansion of vocational rehabilitation services for people with disabilities are suggested.

  • This study analyzes educational panel on the relationship between college life and job satisfaction of women college graduates. Higher college satisfaction increases job satisfaction of women workers with college degrees. Job training programs increase job satisfaction. However, job satisfaction relative to her skills and competency becomes lower when they complete a number of job training programs. Moreover, English education and job training programs exert positive influences over the effects of college satisfaction on job satisfaction of women workers with college degrees. Thus, although there are conflicting aspects, job training programs have potentials to contribute to the job satisfaction. The results of the study suggest that college life is closely related with their job experiences. However, Korean society neglects the importance of college relative to four-year university. Thus, Korean society exerts efforts toward enhancing the educational quality of college education.
