Analysis for Atomic Structural Deterioration and Electrochemical Properties of Li-rich Cathode Materials for Lithium Ion Batteries (리튬이차전지용 리튬과잉계 양극 산화물의 충방전 과정 중 원자 구조 열화 과정과 전기화학 특성에 대한 분석)

  • Recently, various degradation mechanisms of lithium secondary battery cathode materials have been revealed. As a result, many studies on overcoming the limitation of cathode materials and realizing new electrochemical properties by controlling the degradation mechanism have been reported. Li-rich layered oxide is one of the most promising cathode materials due to its high reversible capacity. However, the utilization of Li-rich layered oxide has been restricted, because it undergoes a unique atomic structure change during the cycle, in turn resulting in unwanted electrochemical degradations. To understand an atomic structure deterioration mechanism and suggest a research direction of Li-rich layered oxide, we deeply evaluated the atomic structure of 0.4Li2MnO3_0.6LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 Li-rich layered oxide during electrochemical cycles, by using an atomic-resolution analysis tool. During a charge process, Li-rich materials undergo a cation migration of transition metal ions from transition metal slab to lithium slab due to the structural instability from lithium vacancies. As a result, the partial structural degradation leads to discharge voltage drop, which is the biggest drawback of Li-rich materials.

  • Recent in the world environmental issues and energy depletion problems have been received attention. One way to solve these problems is to use hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Therefore, the interest in HEV technology is higher than ever before. Viable candidates for the energy-storage systems in HEV applications may be absorbent glass mat (AGM) lead-acid, nickel-metal-hydride (Ni-MH) and rechargeable lithium batteries. The AGM battery has advantages in terms of relatively low cost, high charge efficiency, low self-discharge, low maintenance requirements and safety as compared to the other batteries. In order to implement HEV system in required more electric power commercial vehicles AGM batteries was connected to 2 series-2 parallels (2S2P). In this study, a one-dimensional modeling is carried-out to predict the behaviors of 2S2P AGM batteries system during charge and discharge. The model accounts for electrochemical reaction rates, charge conservation and mass transport. In order to validate the model, modeling results are compared with the experimentally measured data in various conditions.

[ $SiO_2$ ] Effect on the Electrochemical Properties of Polymeric Gel Electrolytes Reinforced with Glass Fiber Cloth ($SiO_2$가 유리섬유로 보강된 고분자 겔 전해질의 전기 화학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • [ $SiO_2$ ] effect on the electrochemical properties of polymeric gel electrolytes(PGEs) reinforced with glass fiber cloth(GFC) was investigated . PGEs were composed of polyacrylronitrile(PAN), poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VdF-co-HFP)), $LiClO_4$ and three kind of plasticizer(ethylene carbonate, dietyl carbonate, propylene carbonate). $SiO_2$ was added to PGEs in the weight fraction of 10, 20, $30\%$ respectively. PGEs containing $SiO_2$ showed conductivity of over $10^{-3}S/cm\;at\;23^{\circ}C$ and electrochemical stability window to 4.8V. In the impedance spectra of the cells, which were constructed by lithium metals as electrodes, interfacial resistance increased due to growth of passivation layer during storage time and remarkable difference was not observed with content of $SiO_2$. In the impedance spectra of the lithium ion polymer batteries consisted of $LiClO_2$ and mesophase pitch-based carbon fiber(MCF), ohmic cell resistance of $SiO_2-free$ PGE was changed continuously with number of cycle, but those of $SiO_2-dispersed$ PGEs were not. Discharge capacity of the PGE containing $20wt\%\;SiO_2$ showed 132 mAh/g at 0.2C rate and $85\%$ of discharge capacity was retained at 2C rate.

  • Specific capacitance and charge-discharge rate of EDLC using activated carbon electrode were affected by the compositions of electrolytes, the conditions of charge-discharge and physical properties of activated carbon materials. The activated carbon electrode was prepared by dip coating method. Charge-discharge test and electrochemical experiments were carried out for various kinds of organic electrolytes. Effects of charge and discharge current density on the specific capacitance were studied. Characteristics of leakage current, self-discharge and time-voltage curves in optimum conditions of organic electrolytes were compared with conventional $1M-Et_4NBF_4/PC$ electrolyte. The EDLC using MSP-20(specific surface area: $2000m^2/g$) electrode and $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was exhibited th highest specific capacitance of 130F/g and low polarization resistances. The EDLC using MSP-20 electrode at $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was small leak current of 0.0004A for 15min, long voltage retention of 0.8V after 100h and linear time-voltage curves with small IR-drop.

A study on the Trap Density of Silicon Oxide (실리콘 산화막의 트랩 밀도에 관한 연구)

  • The trap density by the stress bias in silicon oxides with different thicknesses has been investigated. The trap density by stress bias was shown to be composed of on time current and off time current. The on time trap density was composed of dc current. The off time trap density was caused by the tunneling charging and discharging of the trap in the interfaces. The on time trap density was used to estimate to the limitations on oxide thicknesses. The off time trap density was used to estimate the data retention in nonvolatile memory devices.

Thickness dependence of silicon oxide currents (실리콘 산화막 전류의 두께 의존성)

  • The thickness dependence of stress electric filed oxide currents has been measured in oxides with thicknesses between 10 nm and 80 nm. The oxide currents were shown to be composed of stress current and transient current. The stress current was composed of stress induced leakage current and dc current. The stress current was caused by trap assisted tunneling through the oxide. The transient current was caused by the tunneling charging and discharging of the trap in the interfaces. The stress current was used to estimate to the limitations on oxide thicknesses. The transient current was used to the data retention in memory devices.

  • 본 논문에서는 당사가 설계 및 제작한 비상전원공급 기능을 갖는 250kW급 수요관리용 3상 하이브리드 PCS의 주요 전기적 특성을 분석 한다. 충전모드에서 운전시 PWM 컨버터의 입력역률, 입력전류 THD 및 전력변환 효율과 방전모드에서 운전시 계통으로 주입되는 역률과 전류 THD 및 효율을 각각 측정 및 분석하였다. 또한 각 운전모드별 동작 상태와 비상운전모드로의 절환시간을 측정 및 분석하였다.

  • 리튬이차전지는 양극과 음극이 충전과 방전을 반복적으로 수행할 수 있는 구조를 가지고 있으며, 전극 내에서의 이온의 삽입 및 탈리가 용이하고 이들 과정이 진행되는 동안 전극의 구조가 안정하게 유지되어야 하는 전해질은 이온의 전달을 용이하게 하여야 한다. 전지에서 전극 내로 삽입되는 이온은 집전체를 통해 전극으로 들어온 전자와 전하중성을 이루어 전극 내에 전기 에너지를 저장하는 매개체가 된다. 리튬이차전지에서 전해액은 유기 전해액이 사용되고 있으며, 유기용매에 이온원으로서 용질인 리튬염을 용해시킨 것이지만 폭 넓은 환경조건하에서도 이온의 이동을 계속적으로 원활하게 하여 실용전지로서 충분한 역할을 하도록 만드는 중요한 재료이다. 본 논문에서는 전지에서 유기 전해액의 누액이 발생시 보호회로에 미치는 영향에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 리튬 폴리머 배터리($LiFePO_4/C$)의 개방전압(OCV;open-circuit voltage) 히스테리시스 특성을 이용한 확장 칼만 필터(EKF;extended Kalman filter) 기반 state-of-charge(SOC) 추정방법을 소개한다. 배터리 등가회로의 중요 요소인 OCV 모델링을 위해 충전 및 방전 각각의 OCV 히스테리시스 특성을 고려하였고 더불어 OCV-SOC 관계의 SOC 간격을 10%에서 5%로 조정하여 EKF 기반 SOC 추정알고리즘의 성능이 향상되었다. 축소된 하이브리드 자동차용 전류프로파일을 적용했을 때 SOC 추정이 잘 이루어지지 않는 영역은 EKF의 측정방정식에 노이즈 모델 및 데이터 리젝션(data rejection)을 구축하였다. 제안된 방법을 이용하여 SOC 추정결과 전류적산법 대비 5%이내의 SOC 추정에러를 만족하였다.

  • 태양광/풍력 복합발전시스템은 친환경적인 에너지원의 대표적인 복합발전시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 독립형 태양광/풍력 발전시스템을 이용한 가로등 시스템을 구성하여 출력특성을 고찰하였다. 풍력에서 발전된 교류전력을 DC로 변환하여 태양광발전에서 출력된 DC 전력과 공통 DC버스로 전달되도록 하였으며, 공통 직류단 병렬운전을 위해 출력전압을 일치시켰다. 또한 슈퍼캐패시터를 적용하여 발전된 전력의 배터리 충전매체로 활용하여 시스템의 안정성을 높이고 충방전 효율을 증가시키고자 하였다.
