  • Aircraft are an indispensable mode of modern transportation. They are also used as in a wide variety of other fields. For example, aircraft are used for accommodating passengers, carrying freight, and for military reconnaissance. Aircraft ground operations include landing and taking off. During landing, a higher load is applied to the landing gear than during takeoff. The landing gear should absorb impact energy and prevent damage to the main body of the aircraft in the case of an accident. In this study, simulations were performed for two types of plate-spring-type landing gear: that made of composite materials and that constructed with aluminum. The structural safety of landing gear made of each material was also evaluated.

  • In this paper, compatibility between different radio services or systems is analyzed when they are in adjacent band or co-channel. The first step of the compatibility analysis is establishing an interference scenario. And an interference pobability from an interfering transmitter to a victim receiver is calculated by means of Monte-Carlo simulation techniques. Then the calculated result is compared with the predefined interference criteria, maximum permissible interference probability and we can determine compatibility in accordance with the active interferer density, channel bandwidth, cell radius, distance between interfering transmitter and victim receiver, and duty cycle. It is assumed that Propagation modes are the free space model and extened Hata model.

The proposed electronic transformer has some advantages and features as follows: 1) It has 40 % weights lighter than that of commercial magnetic transformer, 2) It has output voltage stabilization characteristic with regulated output voltage over input variations, 3) It cab be operated as circuit breaker in the case of emergency, 4) It can be operated with so called soft starting function. Moreover, the electronic transformer may have stand-by power cutoff function and act as distortion compensator. This paper show the circuit diagram and present its features through various PSPICE simulations.

  • In this study, the design method of a 155 mm Solid Fuel Ramjet projectile is proposed and a flight performance analysis program through mathematical modelling is developed. Through flight performance analysis, ramjet performance during flight, which is comprised of thrust, specific impulse, pressure recovery ratio, location of shock waves, and magnitude of drag, was predicted. The results show that compared to Rocket Assisted Projectile(RAP), the range was increased by 90 %. Furthermore, how variations in nozzle exit area ratio and the intake area cause variations in range was observed. This research on modeling and simulation methodology will provide useful data for future development of solid fuel ramjet projectiles.

  • Fire simulation by using a computational fluid dynamics model and examination of the fires at indoor shooting ranges broken out in the past were conducted, to presume causes of the fire at the indoor shooting range in Busan and suggest fire safety measures. On-site investigations and shooting tests on unburned gunpowder were also carried out. No trace of the muzzle spark and spark at the bullet trap was found in CCTV footage, and the impact of a stray bullet failed to ignite gunpowder. Cigarette was therefore presumed to be the most likely source of ignition among the potential sources. It appeared that the explosion in the shooting area was caused by violent burning of the polyurethane sound absorber and unburned gunpowder accumulated on it. The fire safety measures include prohibit of use of profile polyurethane sound absorber, removal of steel components from bullet trap, clean up and control of unburned gunpowder, etc.

  • With continuous industrial development, the types, and amount of particulate matter (PM) have been increasing. Since 2018, environmental standards regarding PM have become more stringent. Pulse air jet bag filters are suitable for PM under the 20 ㎛ and, can function regardless of size, concentration and type. Filtration velocity and shape are important factors in the operation and design of the pulse air jet bag filters however, few established studies support this theory. In this research, numerical simulations were conducted based on experimental values and, several methods were employed for minimizing the pressure drop. In the pilot system, as the inlet duct velocity was faster than 19 m/sec, flow was not distributed equally and, re-entrainment occurred due to the hopper directional vortex. The multi-inlet system decelerated the hopper directional vortex by 25 ~ 30%, thereby decreasing total pressure drop by 6.6 ~ 14.7%. The guide vane system blocked the hopper directional vortex, which resulted optimal vane angle of 53°. The total pressure of the guide vane system increased by 0.5 ~ 3% at 1.5 m/min conditions. However, the filtration pressure drop decreased by 4.8 ~ 12.3% in all conditions, thereby reducing the operating cost of filter bags.

  • In this paper, the Euclidean distance between the probability density functions (PDFs) for biased errors and a Dirac-delta function located at zero on the error axis is proposed as a new performance criterion for adaptive systems in non-Gaussian noise environments. Also, based on the proposed performance criterion, a supervised adaptive algorithm is derived and applied to adaptive equalization in the shallow-water communication channel distorted by severe multipath fading, impulsive and DC-bias noise. The simulation results compared with the performance of the existing MEDE algorithm show that the proposed algorithm yields over 5 dB of MSE enhancement and the capability of relocating the mean of the error PDF to zero on the error axis.

  • Recently, a number of researches about linear magnetorheological(MR) damper using valve-mode characteristics of MR fluid have sufficiently undertaken, but researches about rotary MR damper using shear-mode characteristics of MR fluid are not enough. In this paper, we performed vibration control of shear-mode MR damper for unlimited rotating actuator of mobile robot. Also fuzzy logic based vibration control for shear-mode MR damper is suggested. The parameters, like scaling factor of input/output and center of the triangular membership functions associated with the different linguistic variables, are tuned by genetic algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the fuzzy-skyhook controller for vibration control of shear-mode MR damper under impact force.

  • Seat of automobile is required to support the comfort to driver and passenger during the driving. The control method of the seat position is changed from manual type to power type, which means using the motor to increase the comfort of the driver. By using the motor, several problems, such as vibration, noise, and over-current, appeared. These problems can be reduced through the control of seat motor. In this study, a control technology of four control variables, which determine profile of the input voltage applying to the seat motor, is proposed to generate the current profile having soft-start and soft-stop. The current flowing through the coil by input voltage is described by mathematical modeling of power seat. It is confirmed that optimized current profile having soft-start and soft-stop can be generated from simulation using the mathematical model.
