Analysis of High Velocity Impact on SFRC Panels Using ABAQUS (ABAQUS를 이용한 강섬유보강 콘크리트 패널의 고속 충돌 거동 해석)

  • This paper employed finite element method (FEM) to study the dynamic response of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete(SFRC) panels subjected to impact loading by spherical projectiles. The material properties and non-linear stress-strain curves of SFRC were obtained by compression test and flexural test. Various parametric studies, such as the effect of fiber volume fraction and thickness of panels, are made and numerical analyses are compared with experiments conducted. It is shown that protective performance of concrete panels will be improved by adding steel fiber. Area loss rates and weight loss rates are decreased with increasing fiber volume fraction. Also, penetration modes can be expected by FEM, showing well agreement with experiment. Results can be applied for designing the protection of military structures and other facilities against high-velocity projectiles.

  • The bridge bearings are devices absorbing the displacements of the superstructure. KS F 4420 relative to the design of elastomeric bearings in Korea allows shear deformation up to 70% of total rubber height. For the elastomeric bearings to fulfill their shear function required in the design, the stability of allowable shear strain of elastomeric bearings relative to the shear failure should be guaranteed. Moreover considering the possibility that elastomeric bearings are applied to the seismic design together with isolation devices, elastomeric bearings is supposed to display higher shear performance. In this paper ultimate shear performance tests were performed. The measured ultimate shear strains were over 200%. Therefore an allowable shear strain provision becomes safe. But elastomeric bearings expected to show their performance in one united body reveled the separation of components near 200% shear strain. These separation in elastomeric bearing can cause unexpected impact or concentrated stress to bridge system considering to application of seismic design. Therefore provision relevant to separation problem is necessary.

  • This study has been carried out to evaluate the reliability by examining the properties related to durability of commercially available coating systems in domestic. For this purpose slow crack growth resistance and oxidative induction time tests were introduced, which have been accepted as durability parameters in polyethylene pipes with low pressure. Based upon the experimental results on these parameters, desirable minimum values are proposed for the durability enhancement of the polyethylene coatings.

  • The capacity concept presented in the Highway Capacity Manual is for steady-state traffic flow assuming that there is no restriction in downstream flowing, which is traditionally used for planning, design, and operational analyses. In the congested traffic condition, the control objective should be to keep the congested regime from growing and to recover the normal traffic condition as soon as possible. In this control case, it is important to predict the spatial-temporal pattern of congestion evolution or dissipation and to estimate the throughput reduction according to the spatial-temporal pattern. In this context, the new concept of dynamic capacity for managing congested traffic is developed in terms of spatial-temporal evolution of downstream traffic congestion and in view of the 'input' concept assuming that flow is restricted by downstream condition rather than the 'output' concept assuming that there is no restriction in downstream flowing (e.g. the mean queue discharge flow rate). This new capacity is defined as the Maximum Sustainable Throughput that is determined based on the spatial-temporal evolution pattern of downstream congestion. And the spatial-temporal evolution pattern is estimated using the Newell's simplified q-k model.

  • The performance characteristics of a subscale diffuser under non-reacting conditions for high-altitude simulation were numerically investigated with respect to different lengths of the secondary throat diffuser. The ratio of the length of the diffuser entrance to the nozzle exit diameter was set to 0, 50, and 100%. In addition, flow characteristics were studied for a range of length-to-diameter ratios of the secondary throat diffuser. An insufficient diffuser entrance length caused contraction of the plume immediately after the nozzle exit. When the length-to-diameter ratio was less than 8, a strong Mach disk was formed inside the diffuser, resulting in a sharp increase in pressure. In addition, flow characteristics in the diverging part of the diffuser were investigated for a range of diverging part lengths. A short diverging part may lead to abrupt pressure recovery, resulting in the possible application of mechanical load to the diffuser.

  • Various studies have been conducted to improve the BSR (Buzz, Squeak, Rattle) noise generated irregularly while the vehicle is running. In vehicle, When an external force such as vibration or force flows into the contact surface, BSR noise is generated at the contact surfaces of nearby components. In this paper, BSR conceptually explain the kind of noise generation mechanisms and the basic principles of generation, which have been proven by observing and improving noise phenomena in automobiles over the last 10 years. Through this, it is expected that researchers who want to study BSR related improvement research not only in automobiles but also in other industries, It will be able to understand the BSR phenomenon and provide a framework for thinking out improvement ideas and to carry out further research.

  • Although the standard 2-CR network filter, one of the filters used for measuring surface roughness, is being used widely in the field of industry it possesses a weak point of causing Phase-distortion when the wavelength is passing through. Phase-corrected filter is used for eliminating these phase-distortion and the difference of phase characteristics between these two filters is thought to have considerable amount of effect on the surface roughness value. Moveover, the definition on this is as yet unclear. Therefore, the Rt and Rz value, obtained when the wavelength are passed through the standard and phase-corrected filters from the same random machine-processed surface, and its standard deviation are compared and experimented in this paper. Also, the ratio of relative bearing curve complying to the phase characteristics of these two filters are acquired. As a result, the use of phese-corrected filter is appropriate in experiments where the form of wavelength is important, and the standard deviation on the same experimented values appeared greater with when using the standard filter. The rate of relative bearing curve became greater as .lambda.$_{c}$, the cut-off value of filter, became smaller.r.

Grain Losses Uncurred During Different Post-Harvest Rice Systems (벼의 여러 수확후 작업기술체계에서 발생하는 곡립손실)

  • 우리나라 벼 수확작업에 적용되고 있거나 적용될 것으로 전망되고 있는 관행건탈곡 및 생탈곡수확체계, 바인다 건탈곡 및 생탈곡체계 와 콤바인 수확체계등 5 종의 수확작업체계에 대해 일본품종인 아끼바레 품종과 통일계품종인 수원 251호를 공시하여 수확시의 곡물함수율에 다른 수확손실량을 분석하여 수확시의 곡물함수율에 따른 수확손실량을 분석하여 우리나라 실정에 맞는 수확작업체계를 설정하기 위하여 종합적으로 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 아끼바레 품종의 수확손실은 5 종의 체계 가운데 콤바인체계에서 가장 큰 값을 보였으며 대체적으로 곡물함수율이 감소함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 관행건탈곡 및 생탈곡, 바인다 건탈곡 및 생탈곡과 콤바인 체계에서의 평균 총손실율은 0.80, 0.59. 0.68, 0.69, 및 1.51% 였으며 통계분석결과 손실량은 곡물함수율, 수확체계 및 이 두 처리간의 상호작용에 있어서도 고도의 유의성이 인정되었다. 2. 수원 251 호품종의 경우 관행건탈곡, 관행생탈곡 및 콤바인 수확체계에 있어서의 평균손실율은 각각 2.72, 0.91 및 2.64%로서 아끼바레 품종의 경우와는 약간 다른 경향을 보이고 있다. 3. 바인다의 건탈곡 및 생탈곡체계에서의 방출손실은 각각의 총손실율의 27-40% 및 40-64%였다. 이러한 손실율은 각체계에 있어서 충분히 고려해야 할 량이며 , 바인다를 수확작업에 이용하기 위하여서는 볏단에 가해지는 충격량을 줄일 수 있도록 바인다의 방출장치개선이 요망된다. 4. 생탈곡 체계에서는 건탈곡 체계에서보다 손실량이 많았는데 이것은 재래의 탈곡기의 선별장치가 생탈곡에서는 적합치 못하기 때문인 것으로 판단되었다. 5. 관행건탈곡 체계에서 발생하는 손실량을 줄이기 위해서는 관행탈곡체계 또는 바인다 탈곡체계로의 기술적 전환이 강력히 요망된다. 수확적기내에 수확작업이 완료된다고 가정할 경우, 관행생탈곡체계에서는 관행건탈곡체계에서 발생하는 손실량을 55-63% 정도 줄일 수있으며 바인다 생탈곡체계에서는 관행 건탈곡체계에서 발생하는 손실량의 10-17% 정도를 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

KTX Passenger Demand Forecast with Intervention ARIMA Model (개입 ARIMA 모형을 이용한 KTX 수요예측)

  • This study proposed the intervention ARIMA model as a way to forecast the KTX passenger demand. The second phase of the Gyeongbu high-speed rail project and the financial crisis in 2008 were analyzed in order to determine the effect of time series on the opening of a new line and economic impact. As a result, the financial crisis showed that there is no statistically significant impact, but the second phase of the Gyeongbu high-speed rail project showed that the weekday trips increased about 17,000 trips/day and the weekend trips increased about 26,000 trips/day. This study is meaningful in that the intervention explained the phenomena affecting the time series of KTX trip and analyzed the impact on intervention of time series quantitatively. The developed model can be used to forecast the outline of the overall KTX demand and to validate the KTX O/D forecasting demand.

A Time Domain Analysis for Hydroelastic Behavior of a Mat-type Large Floating Structure in Calm Water under Dynamic Loadings by Mode Superposition Method (모드중첩법을 이용한 정수중의 매트형 거대부유구조물의 동하중에 대한 시간영역 유탄성 해석)

  • In this paper, the hydroelastic behavior of a mat-type large floating structure is analyzed in time domain by using mode superposition method. The time-memory function is estimated by Fourier transforming the wave damping coefficients, which are computed by a higher-order boundary element method based on potential theory. Meanwhile, the structural response is obtained by time integrating the eigenmodes of the structure. Numerical examples are made for three test cases on the scaled model of a mat-type large floating structure ; weight pull-up case, weight drop case and weight moving case. In all three cases, the numerical results coincide well with experimental data.
