This paper presents the probabilistic analysis for fatigue life of Glass/Epoxy laminates with impact-induced damage. For this, a series of impact tests were perfomed on the Glass/Epoxy laminates using instrumented impact testing machine. Then, tensile and fatigue tests carried out so as to generate post-impact residual strength and fatigue life. Two Parameter Weibull distribution was used to fit the residual strength and fatigue life data of Glass/Epoxy composite laminates. The residual strength was affected by impact energy and their variance decreased with increasing of impact energy. The fatigue life of impacted laminates was greatly reduced by impact energy and this trend depended on applied stress amplitude. Additionally, the variation of fatigue life was gradually decreased with the applied stress amplitude.

Distribution-matching type algorithms based on a set of symbols generated in random order provide a limited performance under biased impulsive noise since the performance criterion for the algorithms has no variables for biased signal. For the immunity against biased impulsive noise, we propose, in this paper, a modified performance criterion and derived related blind algorithms based on augmented filter structures and the distribution-matching method using a set of random symbols. From the simulation results, the proposed algorithm based on the proposed criterion yielded superior convergence performance undisturbed by the strong biased impulsive noise.

In this paper, a new detector is proposed for code acquisition, which employs the signs and ranks of the received signal samples, instead of their actual values, and so does not require knowledge of the non-Gaussian noise dispersion. The mean acquisition performance of the proposed detector is compared with that of the detector of $^{[1]}$. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is not only robust to deviations from the true value of the non-Gaussian noise dispersion, but also has comparable performance to that of the scheme of $^{[1]}$ using exact knowledge of the non-Gaussian noise dispersion.

An adaptive estimation system which operates propoerly in the environments corrupted by additive impulse noise in addition to the white Gaussian noise has been proposed. A feed forward loop is inserted into the adaptive estimator proposed by R. L. Moose for a system with an unknown measurement bias by which the improved adaptive estimator is processed successfully without the sum of the time varying weights being zero even when the measurement system is added impulue noise. Successfully processed adaptive estimator has been obtained under the large impulse noise in addition to randomly varying unknown biases condition by giving sufficient large value to the elements of discrete vector on the computer simulation.
Mechanical systems with rubber parts have been used widely in industry fields. The evaluation of the physical characteristics of rubber is important in rubber application. Rubber material is useful to machine component for excellent shock absorbing characteristics. The impact characteristics of rubber were examined by experimental and finite element method. The impact test was conducted with a free-drop type impact tester. The ABAQUS/Explicit was used for finite element analysis. In the finite element analysis, elastic modulus of rubber using impact force was used as dynamic modulus, which are measured and predicted with dynamic property test and WLF model. The analysis result was coincided with the experimental results.
In this paper, we propose a new Modified Filtered-x Affine Projection Sign Algorithm(MFxAPSA) to improve the convergence speed of the conventional MFxAPSA which has been proposed for active control of impulsive noise. Under the impulsive noise environment, the adaptive algorithms based on the second order moment such as the Filtered-x Least Mean Square(FxLMS) show slow convergence speed or diverge because the noise source tends to have infinite variance. The MFxAPSA is the algorithm derived by applying the Affine Projection Sign Algorithm(APSA) to active noise control. The APSA has an advantage that it does not need the calculation for the inverse matrix, so it may be suitable for the active noise control that requires low computational burden. The proposed MFxAPSA also has APSA's advantage and furthermore, better performance than the conventional MFxAPSA. We carried out a performance comparison of the proposed MFxAPSA with the conventional MFxAPSA. It is shown that the proposed MFxAPSA has the faster convergence speed than the conventional MFxAPSA.
The impact-echo test, which is to evaluate the integrity of concrete and masonry structures nondestructively, is an excellent method in the practical application. However, there are cases that the Impact-Echo testing nay result in the low reliability. In this study, the reliability of the Impact-Echo testing was investigated through the numerical simulation of the Impact-Echo testing. The finite element analysis and the analysis based on the dynamic stiffness matrix method was incorporated for the numerical simulation, in which the cases of a sandwiched shear stiffness, an incr+easing or decreasing stiffness, and a homogeneous stiffness. Based on the results of the analysis were considered, this study proposed the approaches to Improve the reliability of the Impact-Echo testing.
This review paper investigates the use of shockwave attenuating materials within composite structures to enhance personnel protection against blast-induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI). This paper also introduces experimental methodologies exploited in the generation and measurement of shockwaves to evaluate the performance of the shock dissipating composites. The generation of shockwaves is elucidated through diverse approaches such as high-energy explosives, shock tubes, lasers, and laser-flyer techniques. Evaluation of shockwave propagation and attenuation involves the utilization of cutting-edge techniques, including piezoelectric, interferometer, electromagnetic induction, and streak camera methods. This paper investigates phase-separated materials, including polyurea and ionic liquids, and provides insight into composite structures in the quest for shockwave pressure attenuation. By synthesizing and analyzing the findings from these experimental approaches, this review aims to contribute valuable insights to the advancement of protective measures against blast-induced traumatic brain injuries.

This experimental study describes the propagation characteristics of the impulse noise emitted from the exit of a straight pipe attached to the open end of a simple shock tube. The sound pressure level and directivity of the impulse noise propagating from the exit of pipe with several different diameters are measured in the far sound fold for the range of the incident shock wave Mach number between 1.07 and 1.26. The experimental results showed that the peak values of impulse noises had a strong dependance on the exit diameter of a pipe and the shock wave Mach number. The impulse noise had the directivity propagating toward to the pipe axis and the characteristics of inverse square law of propagation distance. Moreover, it was shown that the one-third octave band SPL of impulse noise was almost constant regardless of the frequency band.
