People Re-identification: A Multidisciplinary Challenge (사람 재식별: 학제간 연구 과제)

  • The wide diffusion of internet and the overall increased reliance on technology for information communication, dissemination and gathering have created an unparalleled mass of data. Sifting through this data is defining and will define in the foreseeable future a big part of contemporary computer science. Within this data, a growing proportion is given by personal information, which represents a unique opportunity to study human activities extensively and live. One important recurring challenge in many disciplines is the problem of people re-identification. In its broadest definition, re-identification is the problem of newly recognizing previously identified people, such as following an unknown person while he walks through many different surveillance cameras in different locations. Our goals is to review how several diverse disciplines define and meet this challenge, from person re-identification in video-surveillance to authorship attribution in text samples to distinguishing users based on their preferences of pictures. We further envision a situation where multidisciplinary solutions might be beneficial.

Determination of Valid Dynamic Stability in Wheel Tracking Test of Asphalt Concretes (아스팔트 콘크리트 반복주행 시험에서의 동적안정도 정립에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to establish valid methodology for determining dynamic stability(DS) of deformation-cycle curve which is obtained through wheel tracking(WT) test, the most widely used method for forecast of rutting tendency of asphalt mixture. Existing Korean and Japanese methods for DS are unrealistic and do not really reflect characteristics of rut resistance of asphalt concretes especially when the slope of deformation-cycle curve is stabilized at the end. It was proved that the new DS developed in this study reflected rut resistance characteristics better than existing methods. It is especially effective to distinguish the mixtures with high DR(depth of rut) but stable slope at the end of curve from the mixture with lower DR and continuous slope. The field evaluation must be followed to prove whether the mixture which shows a high DS value this method perform well in the filed.

Maintenance and Improvement of KMTNet Telescope and Enclosure (외계행성 탐색시스템 광시야 망원경과 돔 인클로져의 유지보수 및 성능개선)

  • KMTNet 광시야 망원경의 성능 개선을 위해 2017년에 이루어진 주요 작업으로 주경 배플(baffle) 설치, 주경 코팅, 돔 플랫(dome flat) 장치 설치에 대해 발표한다. 망원경 주경의 가장자리(turn down edge)는 경면 가공이나 코팅 상태가 균질하지 않을 수 있으며, 이로 인한 난반사는 밝은 별 주위에 넓은 wing profile과 여러 갈래의 방사상 빛줄기를 만든다. 이런 난반사를 제거하기 위해 주경면 바로 앞에 배플을 설치하였다. 주경의 광학 성능과 집광력이 최적이 되도록 배플 내부 직경 값을 1,580 mm로 조정하여 설치한 결과, 관측 영상에서 별의 영상이 크게 개선되었다. 호주 관측소는 상대적으로 습기가 높아서 망원경 주경의 반사율이 빨리 낮아졌으며, 이를 개선하기 위해 기존의 코팅(protected silver)을 제거하고 알루미늄으로 새로 코팅하였다. KMTNet 3개 관측소는 주경의 반사율과 코팅 면의 확대 영상을 정기적으로 모니터링하여 광학 성능의 변화를 추적하고 있다. 밤하늘 플랫(twilight sky flat) 영상을 보완하기 위해, 돔 인클로져에 플랫 스크린과 광원을 설치하여 돔 플랫 영상을 획득하였다. 마지막으로 KMNet 관측시스템을 운영하며 발생한 돔 회전 및 돔 셔터 구동부 문제 등에 대해 소개하고, 문제 발생 원인과 주기, 문제 해결 방안을 발표한다.

  • e-Training focusing on the experience and practice accelerates actual-active learning and enforces the learning effects against the existing theory based education. The most typical hans-on training system is augmented reality. Especially, in the training field installed augmented reality system, the automobile maintenance trainee experiences effective training with the immediate information, which is indicating the location of parts and the procedure of repairing. The tracking is the core technology of the augmented reality system. The performance of augmented reality system depends on the tracking technology. Therefore, this paper suggests the tracking technology which is proper to the e-Training augmented reality service technology for the car mechanics.

Effect of Higher Order Form Factors on the Prediction of Room Acoustics by Extended Radiosity Method (확장 라디오시티법에 의한 실내음향 예측에 있어 고차 형태 계수의 영향)

  • Numerous investigations have demonstrated that diffused reflection is one of the most important factors in predicting room acoustics by computer simulation. Recent studies have suggested several computational algorithms in order to account for diffused reflections in the ray tracing or beam tracing method. In this study, a computational algorithm for the calculation of diffuse sound reflections in the image method is suggested and a computer simulation system is developed based on the suggested algorithm. The methodology adopted in our computer simulation system is similar to the extended radiosity method, which is developed for the computer graphics. In a real room, sound energy is reflected in a partially diffused manner which results in four reflection combinations: diffuse-diffuse, specular-specular, diffuse-specular and specular-diffuse. In this study, higher order form factor is introduced to handle the four types of reflection combinations so that the partially diffused reflection could be modeled. In this paper, the concept of extended radiosity method is described and the approximate method of calculating higher order form factor is suggested. Finally, the effect of higher order form factors on the simulation of reverberation time is investigated.

  • It has become more difficult to correspond an cyber attack quickly as patterns of attack become various and complex. However, current so curity mechanisms just have passive defense functionalities. In this paper, we propose new network suity architecture to respond various cyber attacks rapidly and to chase and isolate the attackers through cooperation between security zones. The proposed architecture makes it possible to deal effectively with cyber attacks such as IP spoofing or DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service), by using active packet technology including a mobile code on active network. Also, it is designed to have more active correspondent than that of existing mechanisms. We im-plemented these mechanisms in Linux routers and experimented on a testbed to verify realization possibility of attacker response framework using mobile code. The experimentation results are analyzed.

  • In recent years, Container Security Device(CSD) using GPS & GLONASS to improve logistics efficiency are being extensively researched. The purpose of this paper is to examine the performance development antenna usable cargo container security transport. Antenna developed by study were optimized to match logistics environment apply to GPS/GLONASS dual frequency for monitering system. The measure of antenna have confirmation about frequency characteristics each 1575.42MHz, 1602MHz and VSWR is 2:1 measured in return loss -9.54dB. Reliability of this antenna has been verified about GPS/GLONASS through test-operation between the south korea and Russia.

A SNR Estimation Algorithm for Digital Satellite Transponder (디지털 위성트랜스폰더를 위한 SNR 추정 알고리즘)

  • In the initial stage of the communications between a base station and a satellite transponder, the base station transmits the frequency-sweeping un-modulated up-link carrier within a certain frequency range to acquire the doppler frequency shift and signal power between the base station and the satellite in orbital flight. The satellite transponder acquires and tracks the carrier in order to initialize the communication. To control such initialization process, the satellite receiver should analyze the input carrier signal in various ways. This paper presents an SNR estimation algorithm to control the initialization process. The proposed algorithm converts the input signal into the baseband polar coordinate representation and estimates the SNR via the statistics of the angular signal components as well as the status parameters to control the receiver. The Monte-Carlo simulations shows the validity of the estimation proposed.

Direction Prediction Based Resource Reservation in Mobile Communication Networks for Telematics (텔레매틱스를 위한 이동통신망에서 이동 방향 추정에 근거한 자원 예약)

  • IF handoff events are occurred during the transmission of multimedia traffic, the efficient resource allocation and handoff procedures are necessary to maintain the same QoS of transmitted multimedia traffic because the QoS may be defected by some delay and information loss, This paper proposes a handoff scheme to accommodate multimedia traffic based on the resource reservation procedure using direction estimation, This scheme uses a novel mobile tracking method based on Fuzzy Multi Criteria Decision Making, in which uncertain parameters such as PSS (Pilot Signal Strength), the distance between the mobile and the base station, the moving direction, and the previous location are used in the decision process using the aggregation function in fuzzy set theory, With the position information, the moving direction is determined, The handoff requests for real time sessions are handled based on the direction prediction and the resource reservation scheme, The resources in the estimated adjacent cells should be reserved and allocated to guarantee the continuity of the real time sessions, Through simulation results, we show that our proposed resource reservation method provides a better performance than that of the conventional method.

  • 도시화로 인한 유출량의 증가 및 도달시간의 단축은 도시재해의 한 원인이 되고 있다. 이를 막기 위하여 도시 배수유역내에 저류지를 설치하여 첨두도달시간을 지연시키고 방류량은 하수관거의 통수능 이하로 조절하는 방안을 활용하고 있다. 저류지를 설계 운영함에 있어서 사용되는 수문모형은 일반적으로 계획모형, 설계모형 및 운영모형으로 분류되고 있다. 계획모형과 유사한 형태의 단순화된 설계모형이 있기 때문에 계획모형과 설계모형을 엄밀히 구별하기는 어려우나 일반적으로 저류지 용량 결정시 배수구역에 대한 홍수추적을 실시하여 구하는 경우를 설계모형으로 보고 있다. 본 연구에서는 재해영향평가서 22개소의 기 설계된 저류지를 분석대상으로 하여 여러 가지 저류지 계획모형과 설계모의모형(WinDETPOND 모형, BASINOPT 모형)의 적합성을 검토하고 분석대상 저류지와 비교분석을 실시하였다. 저류지 계획모형의 분석에서 on-line 저류지의 경우는 사다리꼴 형태 설계수문곡선을 채택하고 있는 이종태 등 모형의 결과가 대상 저류지의 실저류량과 가장 유사함을 보였고, off-line 저류지의 경우는 삼각형 형태 설계수문곡선을 채택하고 있는 Abt & Grigg 모형의 결과가 비교적 양호한 결과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. on-line 실저류지 3개소의 저류지 계획모형과 설계모의모형의 결과를 비교분석결과 도시화 인자 ${\alpha}$의 연관성은 뚜렷이 나타나지는 않았지만, WinDETPOND 모형의 저류량은 BASINOPT 모형에 비해 실저류지와 유사한 결과를 나타내었다.
