In an agent-based system, each agent has its own decision making capability and competes, cooperates, and communicates each other with an agent interface. Virtual manufacturing has characteristics as a typical application area of agent-based system: complex and time-bound decision making and negotiation. The time-boundness influences the choice of decision making models and design of protocols for internal and external negotiation. In this paper, we provide a case study which suggests a time-bound framework for external and internal negotiation between the agents for virtual manufacturing environment. We illustrate decision making model selection strategy and the system architecture of the agent-based system for the complex and time-bound environment.

As Electronic Commerce(EC) has been emerged and has developed, many researchers have tried to establish EC framework for automated contract and negotiation using agent technologies. Traditional researches, however, often had limitations. They often enforced the user's participations during the automated contract process of agents. They also could only consider a few of the user's requirements for a specific goods and did not have supported the procedures and methodologies for making the best contract. In this paper, we propose business model on EC based on multiagents to overcome the defects of the previous researches. We apply CSP techniques to brokerage process to satisfy various preferential requirements from the user. We also propose efficient negotiation mechanism using negotiation model of game theory. The contract candidates automatically negotiate and mediate in terms of their benefits through the proposed negotiation mechanism. For the optimal brokerage and automated negotiation, the agents process activities for contract on three layers, which are called competition layer, constraint satisfaction layer and negotiation layer in the proposed model. We also design the message driven communication protocol to support the automated contract among the agents. Finally, we have implemented prototype systems applying the proposed model and have shown the various experimental results for efficiency of the proposed model.

MDO(Multidisciplinary Design and Optimization) can be applied for design of complex systems such as aircraft and SLV(Space Launch Vehicle). MDO System can be an integrated environment or a system, which is for synthetic and instantaneous analysis and design optimization in various design fields. MDO System has to efficiently use and integrate distributed resources such as various analysis codes, optimization codes, CAD, DBMS, GUI, and etc. in heterogeneous environments. In this paper, we present Web Services-based MDO System that integrates resources for MDO using Globus Toolkit and provides organic autonomous execution using automation technique such as Workflow system and agent. And also, it provides collaborative design environment through web user interfaces.
The automotive industry has made much efforts to deliver finished vehicles to customers with speed and reliability. Decreasing the time a vehicle stays within an assembly plant from production release to shipment contributes to reduce the total order lead-time and consequently, the total transportation cost as well. Conventional shipment planning algorithms are limited in accommodating the dynamics of assembly plant operations as to finished vehicle shipment. This paper presents a market-based multi-agent shipment planning algorithm to optimize the performance of vehicle shipment process, capturing the operationally disruptive events. Experimental results using simulation show that the algorithm improves vehicle shipment performance with respect to lead time, labor efficiency, finished product quality, and transportation efficiency.
As the interactive AI speaker becomes popular, voice recognition is regarded as an important vehicle-driver interaction method in case of autonomous driving situation. The purpose of this study is to confirm whether multimodal interaction in which feedback is transmitted by auditory and visual mode of AI characters on screen is more effective in user experience optimization than auditory mode only. We performed the interaction tasks for the music selection and adjustment through the AI speaker while driving to the experiment participant and measured the information and system quality, presence, the perceived usefulness and ease of use, and the continuance intention. As a result of analysis, the multimodal effect of visual characters was not shown in most user experience factors, and the effect was not shown in the intention of continuous use. Rather, it was found that auditory single mode was more effective than multimodal in information quality factor. In the semi-autonomous driving stage, which requires driver 's cognitive effort, multimodal interaction is not effective in optimizing user experience as compared to single mode interaction.
When digital libraries are developed by the traditional client/sever system using a single agent on the distributed environment, several problems occur. First, as the search method is one dimensional, the search results have little relationship to each other. Second, the results do not reflect the user's preference. Third, whenever a client connects to the server, users have to receive the certification. Therefore, the retrieval of documents is less efficient causing dissatisfaction with the system. I propose a new platform of mobile multiagents for a personal digital library to overcome these problems. To develop this new platform I combine the existing DECAF multiagents platform with the Voyager mobile ORB and propose a new negotiation algorithm and scheduling algorithm. Although there has been some research for a personal digital library, I believe there have been few studies on their integration and systemization. For searches of related information, the proposed platform could increase the relationship of search results by subdividing the related documents, which are classified by a supervised neural network. For the user's preference, as some modular clients are applied to a neural network, the search results are optimized. By combining a mobile and multiagents platform a new mobile, multiagents platform is developed in order to decrease a network burden. Furthermore, a new negotiation algorithm and a scheduling algorithm are activated for the effectiveness of PDS. The results of the simulation demonstrate that as the number of servers and agents are increased, the search time for PDS decreases while the degree of the user's satisfaction is four times greater than with the C/S model.
Wireless Sensor Networks are consisted of sensor nodes that communicated with each other to transmit information. Because sensor nodes have physically many limits, wireless sensor networks are hard to adopt for traditional networks. Transmissions are consumed most energy of sensor nodes. That's why energy-efficient transmission techniques and QoS support techniques for different kind of data are most important in wireless sensor networks. The thesis proposes the agent based framework for energy distribution and QoS in wireless sensor networks. Agents have its own behavior policy by means of a gene, which is optimized by genetic operations. Agents behavior to distribute energy consumption over sensor nodes. Simulation results show that the enhanced framework extends the lifetime of sensor nodes. Successful transmission ratios of emergency data and non emergency data are increased by 27% and 14%, respectively. Also, the results demonstrate that Qos of networks are improved.
The paper proposes information system for providing proper well known delicious restaurants as interactions with users. The system calls 'Moloke', which is an agent for recommending sensitive information on mobile environment The proposing agent differs from existing ones that guide the telephone number and the name of the restaurant. The differences are as following goals. First, the agent gets existing from users as interactive communications on mobile devices through the proper requests on each time zone such as morning, afternoon, and evening. Second, the agent also can recommend a specific restaurant for current personal states such as parties, special community meetings, bio-rhythms and so on. Among them, specially the bio-rhythm is used for recommending proper restaurants to each user. In addition to through proposal suitable design for the mobile agent design more effectively. The research used mobile environment for recommendation service and web environment for data management. Server environment for service used Apache, PHP4, Mysql and mobile page was implemented m-html for approach. Mobile Service was optimized Mozilla-1.22, KUN-1.2.3 Browser

Mobile-IP has been designed to have mobile computer users move from place to place without changing their IP addresses. Mobile-IP introduces the following entities to support mobility: Home Agent. Foreign Agent, etc., and it uses the techniques such as Agent Discovery, Registration. and Tunnelling. Mobile-IP route optimization provides a mechanism by which correspondent nodes are enable to know the mobile host's care-of address to alleviate the triangle routing problem. As a further performance improvement, to alleviate the overhead resulted from the frequent local mobility within a site hierarchical foreign agents are presented, and as a foreign agent which is willing to participate in communication maintain a buffering mechanism not to loss packets for mobile host, smooth handoffs is presented. In this paper, the problems to be thought to support host's mobility and the existing method to support it is discussed.
