  • In this study, a regression model, which relates annual flood peak flows collected at stramflow gaging stations in the Han river and Nakdong river basin to both basin characteristics and precipitation data, is developed by using the generalized least squares method which can provide reasonable and unbiased estimator of error variance by separating error variance of the regression model into that due to model error and due to sampling error. This model may be used as a mechanism for transferring hydrologic information from the gaged sites to ungaged sites.

  • This paper is a study on the evaluation of loss factor of damping treatment materials to reduce the noise and vibration for panels of railway vehicles and automobiles. In order to determine the modal parameters of damping materials, beam excitation tests were carried out using different type PVC coated aluminum and steel base beam specimens. The specimens were excited from 10 Hz to 1000 Hz frequency range using sinusoidal force, and transfer mobility data were measured by using an accelerometer. The loss factors were determined by using integrated program, based on theories of Half Power Method, Minimum Tangent Error Method, Minimum Angle Error Method and Phase Change Method, which enable to evaluate the parameters using modal circle fit and least squares error method. In the case of lower loss factor and data of linear characteristics, any method could be applied for evaluation of parameters, however the case of higher loss factor or data including non-linear characteristics, the minimum angle error method could reduce the loss factor evaluation. The obtained dynamic properties of the coating material could be used for application of Finite Element Method analyzing the noise control effects of complex structures such as carbody or under-floor boxes of rolling stock. The damping material will be very useful to control the structural noise, because the obtained modal loss factors of each mode show very good effect on over $2^{nd}$ mode frequency range.

  • In a speech coding system using excitation source of voiced and unvoiced, it would be involved a distortion of speech quality in case coexist with a voiced and an unvoiced consonants in a frame. So, I propose TSIUVC(Transition Segment Including Unvoiced Consonant) searching and extraction method in order to uncoexistent with a voiced and unvoiced consonants in a frame. This paper present a new method of TSIUVC approximate-synthesis by using Least Mean Square and frequency band division. As a result, this method obtain a high quality approximation-synthesis waveforms within TSIUVC by using frequency information of 0.547KHz below and 2.813KHz above. The important thing is that the maximum error signal can be made with low distortion approximation-synthesis waveform within TSIUVC. This method has the capability of being applied to a new speech coding of Voiced/Silence/TSIUVC, speech analysis and speech synthesis.

  • The autoignition temperature is one of the most important physical properties used to determine the flammability characteristics of chemical substances. Despite the needs of the experimental autoignition temperature data for the design of chemical plants, it is not easy to get the data. This study have built and compared partial least squares (PLS) and support vector machine (SVM) models to predict the autoignition temperatures of 503 organic compounds out of DIPPR 801. As the independent variables of the models, 59 functional groups were chosen based on the group contribution method. The prediction errors calculated from cross-validation were employed to determine the optimal parameters of two models. And, particle swarm optimization was used to get three parameters of SVM model. The PLS and SVM results of the average absolute errors for the whole data range from 58.59K and 29.11K, respectively, indicating that the predictive ability of the SVM is much superior than PLS.

  • In this paper, in order to improve the location estimation error existing in RTLS(Real Time Location Service) system for the mobility individual, we proposed a method of speed-adaptive location estimation that the transmitting signaling period is adaptively changed according to the changing speed of a mobility individual for each location interval. To get the more accurate location estimation values, we analyzed both the location values measured by Hybrid(TDOA and RSSI) method by using AeroScout TM RTLS system and the estimated value obtained from the theoretical calculation by using the Least Squares Method. Finally, we compared the analyzed values with a real location of mobility individual. From the experimental results based on our proposed method, it can be seen that the location estimation error for the real location of a mobility individual can be improved.

  • In this paper, we propose a new beamforming algorithm for a conformal array antenna based on support vector regression(SVR). While the conventional least squares method(LSM) considers all sample errors, SVR considers errors beyond the given error bound to obtain the optimum weight vector, which has a sparse solution and the advantage of the minimization of the overfitting problem. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we apply SVR to the experimentally measured active element patterns of the conformal array antenna and obtain the weights for beamforming. In addition, we compare the beamforming results of SVR and LSM.

  • Many of the adaptive noise control systems utilize a form of the least mean square (LMS) algorithms. In the active control of noise, it is common practice to locate an error microphone far from the control source to avoid the near-field effects by evanescent waves. Such a distance between the control source and the error microphone makes a certain level of time-delay inevitable and, hence, may yield undesirable effects on the convergence properties of control algorithms such as filtered-x LMS. This paper discusses the dependence of the convergence rate on the acoustic error path in these popularalgorithms and introduces new algorithms which increase the convergence region regardless of the time-delay in the acoustic error path. Performances of the new LMS algorithms are presented in comparison with those by the conventional algorithms based on computer simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, we present an adaptive block matching motion estimation using optical flow. In the proposed algorithm, we calculate the temporal and spatial gradient value for each pixel value from tile differential filter, and estimate the optical flow which is used to decide the location and the size of the search region from the gradient values by least square optical flow algorithm. In particular, the proposed algorithm showed a excellent performance with fast and complex motion sequences. From the computer simulation for various motion characteristic sequences. The proposed algorithm shows a significant enhancement of PSNR over previous blocking matching algorithms.

  • In this paper, an interpolation method of HRTF (Head-Related Transfer Function) is proposed for small-sized measurement data set, especially. The proposed algorithm is based on acoustic modeling of HRTFs, and the algorithm tries to interpolate the HRTFs via estimation the model coefficients. However, the estimation of the model coefficients is hard if there is lack of measurement points, so the algorithm solves the problem by a data augmentation using the VBAP (Vector Based Amplitude Panning). Therefore, the proposed algorithm consists of two steps, which are data augmentation step based on VBAP and model coefficients estimation step by least squares method. The proposed algorithm was evaluated by a simulation with a measured data from CIPIC (Center for Image Processing and Integrated Computing) HRTF database, and the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm reduces mean-squared error by 1.5 dB ~ 4 dB than the conventional algorithms.
