A Study on the Materials Characteristics of SM570TMC Plates (SM570TMC 강재의 재료특성에 관한 연구)

  • There is increasing need for high-strength steel especially for the high-rise steel building structure. High- strength steels, however, may have mechanical properties that are significantly different from those of the conventional steels.The application of high-strength steels to building structures should be reviewed as to whether inelastic behavior equivalent to that of conventional steels can be attained or not. In this study, SM570TMC steel, which was developed recently in Korea, was tested to evaluate mechanical properties and welding characteristics for use as a structural steel. Yield phenomenon of SM570TMC steel, which is continuous yielding, is quite different from that of conventional steel. The distributions of yield strength of SM570TMC steel were uniform regardless of thickness, while the minimum yield strength was 440MPa. Also, the flat distributions of hardness in z-direction were found to comprise one of the important properties. Results of the charpy impact tests at -5oC revealed toughness values of SM570TMC steel, which were higher than those of equivalent as rolled steel. Carbon equivalent(Ceq) values of SM570TMC steel, which were related to welding performance, were lower than those of equivalent as rolled steel.

  • In this paper, we propose the design method for the composite torque link of a landing gear for a helicopter. The composite torque link has to be light weighted and very stiff to keep the shock absorber in the landing gear of helicopter. The configuration and structural shape has to be designed in consideration of the RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) manufacturing process which is adopted to minimize the manufacturing cost. The mechanical properties are obtained through the coupon tests with the specimens made by the same manufacturing process for the composite structure. The optimal design process was performed through iterative modifications of the models which were verified by stress analysis using FEM. The composite torque link has lug-shaped parts and is very thick, so 3D Layered solid elements of ABAQUS were used to get the stress field including the stress components in thickness direction and non-linear static analysis using contact B.C. of rigid-deform condition was used to get the optimal design.

  • As the space for installation of automotive exhaust system is limited, the space should be optimized with relation to the endurance and shape of the system. Geometric nonlinear analysis was used and deflection of bellows was assumed 6mm. Obtained results are as follows; (1) The Von-Mises stress of bellows is increased with increase of thickness or radius of bellows linearly. (2) As the principal stress varies according to the radius of convolution, it is necessary to decide the optimal radius of convolution.

Evaluation of Attenuation Rate Error on Skin Dosimeter using Monte Carlo Simulation in Photon and Electron Beam Therapy (광자선 및 전자선 치료에서 피부선량계의 측정과 시뮬레이션을 이용한 감약률 오차 평가)

  • In the field of radiation therapy using photon beams and electron beams, since each patient has a different sensitivity to radiation, skin side effects may occur even at the same dose. Therefore, if there is a risk of excessive dose to the skin, a dosimeter is attached to verify whether the correct dose is being investigated. However, since the skin dosimeter checks the attachment site visually by measuring a point dose, it is difficult to confirm an accurate dose distribution. As a result, the measurement and simulation errors of the material HgI2 in the 6 MV photon beam were 3.73% and 5.24%, respectively, at the minimum thickness of 25 ㎛, and the material PbI2 was 4.73% and 5.65%, respectively. On the other hand, as a result of the 6 MeV electron beam, the measurement and simulation errors of the material HgI2 were 1.35% and 1.12%, respectively, at a minimum thickness of 25 ㎛, and the material PbI2 showed relatively low attenuation error, 1.67% and 1.20%, respectively. Therefore, it was evaluated that the thickness of the photon beam within 25 ㎛ and the electron beam within 100 ㎛ is suitable to have a reduction rate error within 5%. This study presents a new research direction for a flexible dosimeter attached to the human body that is required in clinical practice and the construction conditions of a future skin dosimeter.

The evaluation of color and color difference according to the layering placement of Incisal shade composites on the body composites of the indirect resin restoration (간접 수복용 복합레진의 Incisal 색상 적층 두께에 따른 표면 색상 및 색차의 평가)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the surface color of indirect resin restoration according to the layering placement of different shade of incisal composite. Materials and Methods: In this study, CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ value of 16 Body composite of Tescera ATL (Bisco, Schaumburg IL,USA) was measured by spectrophotometer (NF999, Nippon Denshuku, Japan), and compared to CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ value of Vitapan shade guide. Nine shade Incisal composite of Tescera ATL were buildup to 1 mm thickness on Body composites inlay block, and CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ value was measured. Incisal composite was ground to 0.5 mm thickness and CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ value was re-measured. Color difference between Body composite and Incisal composites layered on Body composite was calculated as a function of thickness. Results: Color difference between corresponding shade of Tescera Body composite and Vitapan shade guide was from 6.88 to 12.80. $L^*$ and $b^*$ value was decreased as layering thickness of Incisal composite on Body composite was increased. But, $a^*$ value did not show specific change tendency. Conclusions: Surface color difference between Body composites and Incisal composites layered on Body composite was increased as the layering thickness of Incisal composite increased (p < 0.05).

  • 반도체, LCD, MEMs 등 미세 전자소자의 제작과 깊은 관련이 있는 IT 산업은 자동차 산업과 함께 세계 경제를 이끌고 있는 핵심 산업이며, 그 발전 가능성이 크다고 할 수 있다. 이 중 반도체, LCD 공정 기술에 관해서 대한민국은 세계를 선도하여 시장을 이끌어 나가고 있는 실정이다. 이들의 공정기술은 주로 높은 수율(yield)을 기반으로 한 대량 생산 기술에 초점이 맞추어져 있기 때문에, 현재와 같은 첨예한 가격 경쟁력이 요구되는 시대에서 공정 기술 개발을 통해 수율을 최대한으로 이끌어 내는 것이 현재 반도체를 비롯한 미세소자 산업이 직면하고 있는 하나의 중대한 과제라 할 수 있다. 특히 반도체공정에 있어 발전을 거듭하여 현재 20 nm 수준의 선폭을 갖는 소자들의 양산이 계획 있는데 이와 같은 나노미터급 선폭을 갖는 소자 양산과 관련된 CD (critical dimension)의 감소는 공차의 감소를 유발시키고 있으며, 패널의 양산에 있어서 생산 효율 증가를 위한 기판 크기의 대형화가 이루어지고 있다. 또한, 소자의 집적도를 높이기 위하여 높은 종횡비(aspect ratio)를 요구하는 공정이 일반화됨에 따라 단일 웨이퍼 내에서의 공정의 균일도(With in wafer uniformity, WIWU) 및 공정이 진행되는 시간에 따른 균일도(Wafer to wafer uniformity)의 변화 양상에 대한 파악을 통한 공정 진단에 대한 요구가 급증하고 있는 현실이다. 반도체 및 LCD 공정에 있어서 공정 균일도의 감시 및 향상을 위하여 박막, 증착, 식각의 주요 공정에 널리 사용되고 있는 플라즈마의 균일도(uniformity)를 파악하고 실시간으로 감시하는 것이 반드시 필요하며, 플라즈마의 균일도를 파악한다는 것은 플라즈마의 기판 상의 공간적 분포(radial direction)를 확인하여 보는 것을 의미한다. 현재까지 플라즈마의 공간적 분포를 진단하는 대표적인 방법으로는 랭뮤어 탐침(Langmuir Probe), 레이저 유도 형광법(Laser Induced Fluorescence, LIF) 그리고 광섬유를 이용한 발광분광법(Optical Emission Spectroscopy, OES)등이 있으나 랭뮤어 탐침은 플라즈마 본연의 상태에서 섭동(pertubation) 현상에 의한 교란, 이온에너지 측정의 한계로 인하여 공정의 실시간 감시에 적합하지 않으며, 레이저 유도 형광법은 측정 물질의 제한성 때문에 플라즈마 내부에 존재하는 다양한 종의 거동을 살필 수 없다는 단점 및 장치의 설치와 정렬(alignment)이 상대적으로 어려워 산업 현장에서 사용하기에 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 최소 50 cm에서 최대 400 cm까지 플라즈마 내 측정 거리에서 최대 20 mm 공간 분해가 가능한 광 수광 시스템 및 플라즈마 공정에서의 라디칼의 상태 변화를 분광학적 비접촉 방법으로 계측할 수 있는 발광 분광 분석기를 접목하여 플라즈마 챔버 내의 라디칼 공간 분포를 계측할 수 있는 진단 센서를 고안하고 이를 실 공정에 적용하여 보았다. 플라즈마 증착 및 식각 공정에서 형성된 박막의 두께 및 식각률과 공간 분해발광 분석법을 통하여 계측된 결과와의 매우 높은 상관관계를 확인하였다.

Effect of the Combination of Point Loads on the Design Flexural Capacity for Fiber Reinforced Concrete Floor Slab (집중하중 조합에 의한 섬유 보강 콘크리트 바닥슬래브의 설계 휨 내력)

  • In this study, the flexural capacity of fiber reinforced concrete floor slabs were evaluated using main design loads, racking and moving loads. Based on design standards and guidelines, the magnitude and loaded area of each load were determined, and its relationship was assessed. For the application of a single load, flexural capacity should be evaluated in the edge of a floor slab. In addition, the slab with thickness and concrete strength, greater than 180mm and 35MPa, respectively, sufficiently satisfied flexural capacity with a minimum of equivalent flexural strength ratio. The combination of racking loads required the largest equivalent flexural strength ratio to satisfy the flexural capacity of the floor slab. The combination of racking and moving loads showed equivalent flexural strength ratio smaller than the case of combination of racking loads, but larger than the application of single racking or moving loads. The results of this study indicated that the flexure of fiber reinforced concrete floor slabs should be designed using the combination of design loads.

  • In event of a tunnel fire, all kinds of equipment can be destroyed in high temperature that can exceed $1300^{\circ}C$, fatal structural demage can be caused by spalling of concrete structural elements. To make matters worse, there is a high possibility of the secondary damage which can lead to the collapse of the shear resisting structure. Accordingly, it is time that we developed the technology to counter fires in connection with the fire-resistant design of a tunnel structure. To secure the reliability of the fire-resistance performance of a tunnel structure, it is necessary to assess the fire's behavior on every structural element exposed to the fire as well as to calculate the tunnel fire intensity and the quantity of heat released. In this study, we drew out the fire damage range of each structural element of a tunnel and the minimum thickness of concrete cover for each fire-resistant material through some actual experiments of fire behavior on the structural elements of a tunnel.

Suggestion on the Prototype of the Korean Barriers through the Investigation and Modeling of RC Protective Installments in Contact Areas (접적지역 RC형 방호시설 조사와 모델링을 통한 한국형 방호벽 설계안의 제시)

  • The aim of this study is to suggest design requirements on the military barriers which are installed to reduce critical damage on protective facilities against sudden pin-point attacks caused by North Korean artilleries. For this purpose, site investigation and review of design drawings associated with barriers built in the contact areas are conducted. With identified data concerning barriers, the geometric modeling, which is used in the structural analysis, is performed. And then, the possible threat of North Korea is determined based on intelligence preparation of battlefields. Once the structural modeling and threat analysis are completed, structural damage on barriers and protective facilities are assessed in terms of impact, penetration, scabbing, and blast pressure effects. According to the analysis results, the thickness of barriers should be 450mm at least and current established barriers need to be structurally reinforced via sectional enlargement.

Vision-based Real-time Lane Detection and Tracking for Mobile Robots in a Constrained Track Environment

  • As mobile robot applications increase in real life, the need of low cost autonomous driving are gradually increasing. We propose a novel vision-based real-time lane detection and tracking system that supports autonomous driving of mobile robots in constrained tracks which are designed considering indoor driving conditions of mobile robots. Considering the processing of lanes with various shapes and the pre-adjustment of operation parameters, the system structure with multi-operation modes are designed. In parameter tuning mode, thresholds of the color filter is dynamically adjusted based on the geometric property of the lane thickness. And in the unstable input mode of curved tracks and the stable input mode of straight tracks, lane feature pixels are adaptively extracted based on the geometric and temporal characteristics of the lanes and the lane model is fitted using the least-squared method. The track centerline is calculated using lane models and the motion model is simplified and tracked by a linear Kalman filter. In the driving experiments, it was confirmed that even in low-performance robot configurations, real-time processing produces the accurate autonomous driving in the constrained track.
