A Study on Deterioration of Ridge Trail in Jeongmaek (우리나라 정맥의 마루금 등산로 훼손에 관한 연구 -금남, 금북, 낙남, 한남금북정맥을 대상으로 -)

  • This study has been conducted to understand the deterioration state and to establish a management plan for the trails of Jeongmaek ridge. To find the extent of the deterioration, researchers investigated twelve physical factors and they examined the states of the trails qualitatively. The results are as follows. The extent of the damages to the trails of the Hannam Geumbuk-Jeongmaek ridge was 78cm in breadth, 6.4cmin depth, 20.8% in slope, the extent of the damages to the trails of the Guembuk-Jeongmaek ridge was 73cm in breadth, 7.3cm in depth, 20.0% in slope. And the extent of the damages to the trails of the Naknam-Jeongmaek ridge was 73cm in breadth, 6.7cm in depth, 17.7% in slope, the extent of the damages to the trails of the Guemnam-Jeongmaek ridge was 79cm in breadth, 6.7cm in depth, 19.7% in slope, which could be interpreted as relatively good. However, it was confirmed that damages to the trails that run through the urban areas and tourist attractions had become worse than in the past. Therefore, in the regions where the number of comers is expected to increase, more detailed monitoring and proactive management is required.

  • In order to find the excavating performance of water-jet nozzle on the sand, the authors were carried out the excavating experiment with the model nozzles which were semi circular sectioned nozzles and rectangular nozzle in water tank. The results were as follows. 1) Excavating maximum depth and width on the sand by the water jet were straightly increased in proportion to the velocity of water jet and the section area of nozzle, and that, by the nozzle distance from the excavating point on the sand, the depth was decreased, while the width was increased straightly. 2) Rectangular nozzle which the thick of hole is 1mm, was a little bit better than the circular nozzle of the same sectioned area on the excavating performance. 3) Empirical equations between the velocity of water jet, the distance of nozzle, and the maximum excavating depth and width by angle of nozzle were expressed as linear, they were as follows on the 45$^{\circ}$ angle of the rectangular nozzle(1$\times$12mm); D=0.0093V sub(0)-0.23H+5.7. W=0.0147V sub(0)+1.06H+10.2. where, D is the maximum excavating depth(cm), W is the maximum excavation width(cm), V sub(0) is the velocity of water jet(cm/s); 926$\leq$V sub(0)$\leq$1504, H is the distance(cm) from nozzle tip to water-jetted point on the surface of sand.

PCA-Based Feature Reduction for Depth Estimation (깊이 추정을 위한 PCA기반의 특징 축소)

  • This paper discusses a method that can enhance the exactness of depth estimation of an image by PCA(Principle Component Analysis) based on feature reduction through learning algorithm. In estimation of the depth of an image, hyphen such as energy of pixels and gradient of them are found, those selves and their relationship are used for depth estimation. In such a case, many features are obtained by various filter operations. If all of the obtained features are equally used without considering their contribution for depth estimation, The efficiency of depth estimation goes down. This paper proposes a method that can enhance the exactness of depth estimation of an image and its processing speed is considered as the contribution factor through PCA. The experiment shows that the proposed method(30% of an feature vector) is more exact(average 0.4%, maximum 2.5%) than using all of an image data in depth estimation.

  • Recent internal and external bridge failures due to pier and abutment scour have emphasized the need for better methods of scour depth estimation. This paper compares the hydraulic analysis of the Namhan River Bridge over the Namhan River using one-dimensional models. WSPRO & HEC-2, and the two-dimensional model. TABS-MD based on the procedures presented in HEC-18 published by the U.S. FEdral Highway Administration. A comparison of estimated scour depth for this research based on the results from both one-dimensional and two-dimensional model is presented. At the same time, field measurement has been performed before and after flood using sounding instrument. Fathometer (DE-719C). A comparison between estimated and measured scour depth at bridge is also presented. Result shows that there is all the difference between estimated and measured scour depth due to dissimilarity between laboratory and field conditions. Also, it is difficult to measure the maximum scour depth accurately due to refilling. Therefore development of scour measuring equipment which can be used during peak flood, and derivation of empirical model appropriate for internal river system seems urgent.

Experimental Study on Influence of Levee Breach Depth on Flood Wave Propagation in Inundation Area (제방붕괴깊이 조건에 따른 제내지 범람홍수파 거동 실험)

  • 본 연구에서는 제방붕괴에 의한 제내지 홍수파 거동 해석의 일환으로 제방붕괴시 제방의 붕괴깊이에 따른 제내지에서의 홍수파의 거동 양상을 수리실험을 통하여 고찰하였다. 다양한 제방붕괴폭과 초기하도수위 및 제방붕괴고 조건에 대해 범람홍수파의 전파속도와 제내지에서의 최대수심의 변화를 실험을 통하여 관찰하였다. 범람홍수파 선단(wave-front)의 이동속도는 동일한 하도수위조건에서는 붕괴고가 높을수록 감소하는 것으로 나타나 제방붕괴시 월류수심 $H_w$가 범람홍수파 전파속도에 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 모든 실험조건에서 최대수심은 일정한 경향을 띠고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 제방인근 지점에서 최대수심이 가장 크게 나타났고, 붕괴부로부터 일정 지점이 지나면 수위가 급격히 감소하여 거리에 관계없이 일정한 최대수심을 유지하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 동일 수위조건이라면 제방붕괴고가 낮을수록 제내지로 유입되는 유량이 증가하여 초기에 제방붕괴부 주위에서 수심이 높아지는 것으로 분석할 수 있다. 실험결과를 이용하여 범람홍수파의 전파속도와 최대수심을 산정하는 식을 무차원변수를 이용하여 제시하였다.

Variationsin Air and Ground Temperatures During a Frozen Season in the Subalpine Zone of Mt. Halla (한라산 아고산대의 동결기 기온 및 지온변화)

  • In order to examine the temperature regime responsible for periglacial processes, air and ground temperatures were monitored from October 2010 to May 2011 at a subalpine bare patch (1,710m asl) of Mt. Halla. Four thermistor sensor probes were installed at 55 cm above a ground surface and depths of 2 cm, 10 cm, and 20 cm, respectively. A mean air temperature is $-0.1^{\circ}C$, while mean ground temperatures are $1.8^{\circ}C$ at 2 cm, $2.6^{\circ}C$ at 10 cm and $3.2^{\circ}C$ at 20 cm deep. A mean monthly ground temperature at 2 cm deep demonstrates below $0^{\circ}C$ successively from January to March, while those at 10 cm and 20 cm deep show no sub-zero temperature. A total of 72 freeze-thaw cycle was observed in air temperature. However, the numbers in ground temperature reduced into 17 at 2 cm, 8 at 10 cm, and 3 at 20 cm deep. The cycles of air temperature and ground temperature at 2 cm deep mostly fluctuated diurnally, while those of ground temperature at 10 cm and 20 cm deep exhibited a several-daily oscillation. Snow cover over 55 cm high remained from January to early April, and it seemed to disappear completely on April 16. A seasonal frost of at least 2 cm thick was formed on late December and the isotherm of $0^{\circ}C$ descended slowly into 10 cm deep on late March to early April due to the insulating snow cover. It showed the maximum freezing depth of 20 cm on April 7 to 14 and then thawed rapidly so that the frozen ground did not longer after April 17. Periglacial processes are predominant during a freezing period than a thawing period when the ground surface is still covered with snow. The periglacial mass movement in the subalpine zone of Mt. Halla is mainly generated by frost creep in terms of the occurrence depth of diurnal freeze-thaw cycle and the maximum freezing depth of ground.

Nano-Indenter 측정 중 Indenting 깊이에 따른 박막의 표면 및 기판 효과에 의한 ZrN 박막의 특성연구

  • Nano-mechanics 연구는 기판의 나노표면에 대하여 indenter tip을 직접 인가하여 측정함으로써 기존 분광학 연구에서는 불가능했던 박막의 기계적 특성 연구가 가능하다. 그러나 박막분석 특성상 박막의 표면, 기판 또는 하부 박막에 의한 영향으로 인해 박막의 고유한 물성특성 연구에 제약이 있다. 박막 표면에 의한 영향인 표면효과는 nano-indentation을 실행 할 때 tip의 압입으로 발생되는 표면의 스트레스로 인해 표면 변형이 나타나는 현상이다. 반면에 하부 박막과 기판에 의한 오류는 nano-indentation 실행 시 tip의 압입 깊이가 깊어질수록 하부박막 또는 기판과 가까워지기 때문에 박막 고유의 특성이 아닌 하부박막과 기판에 의한 영향이 같이 나타나는 현상이다. 이러한 오류를 최소화 하고자 많은 연구에서는 박막의 강도에 따라 nano-indentation의 실행 깊이를 박막 총 두께의 최소7%에서 최대 50%까지 삽입하는 방법을 도입하였다. 이를 기반으로 본 연구는 Zirconium nitride (ZrN) 박막의 증착된 두께 깊이만큼 nano-indentation 분석을 실행 하였으며 박막 고유의 nano-mechanics 특성을 연구 하였다. ZrN 박막은 hard coating 분야에 많이 사용되는 물질로 박막 고유의 hardness를 연구하는 것이 큰 의미가 있다. 연구 결과 모든 박막은 두께 30% 깊이 측정에서 박막 표면과 기판효과가 최소화된 박막의 물성 측정이 가능 하였고, 증착 시 질소를 0.5, 1, 2 sccm 흘려준 박막들은 총 두께 30% 깊이에서 hardness가 각각 23.2, 8.6, 18 GPa이었다. 따라서 nano-indenter 측정 시 유효한 측정 깊이에서 측정을 실시하는 것이, 박막의 물성분석에 있어서 대단히 중요함을 확인 하였다.

Evaluation of Canister Weld Flaw Depth for Concrete Storage Cask (콘크리트 저장용기의 캐니스터 용접부 결함깊이 평가)

  • Domestically developed concrete storage casks include an internal canister to maintain the confinement integrity of radio-active materials. In this study, we analyzed the depth of flaws caused by loads that propagate canister weld cracks under normal, off-normal and accident conditions, and evaluated the maximum allowable weld flaw depth needed to secure the structural integrity of the canister weld and to reduce the welding time of the internal canister lid of the concrete storage cask. Structural analyses for normal, off-normal and accident conditions were performed using the general-purpose finite element analysis program ABAQUS; the allowable flaw depth was assessed according to ASME B&PV Code Section XI. Evaluation results revealed an allowable canister weld flaw depth of 18.75 mm for the concrete storage cask, which satisfies the critical flaw depth recommended in NUREG-1536.

Evaluating the Depth of a Surface-opening Crack in Concrete Slabs using Surface wave Measurements (표면파 측정을 통한 콘크리트 슬래브의 표면균열 깊이 측정)

  • Non-contact surface wave transmission (SWT) measurements are used to evaluate the depth of a surface-breaking crack in concrete slabs. The author propose a measurement model that includes an appropriate configuration of the source and receivers, and a transmission function for the given configuration. A series of numerical simulations using a 3D finite element model is used to obtain the transmission function. Then, validity of a proposed model is verified through experimental studies. Two air-coupled sensors are used to measured surface waves across surface-breaking cracks with varying depths from 0mm to 100mm with intervals of 10mm in a concrete slab ($1500{\times}1500{\times}180mm^3$) in laboratory. As a result, the proposed method is demonstrated as to be effective for charactering the depth of a surface-breaking crack in concrete bridge deck with an average error of 10%. A discussion on practical applications of the proposed method is also included in this article.

Depth Map Pre-processing using Gaussian Mixture Model and Mean Shift Filter (혼합 가우시안 모델과 민쉬프트 필터를 이용한 깊이 맵 부호화 전처리 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new pre-processing algorithm applied to depth map to improve the coding efficiency. Now, 3DV/FTV group in the MPEG is working for standard of 3DVC(3D video coding), but compression method for depth map images are not confirmed yet. In the proposed algorithm, after dividing the histogram distribution of a given depth map by EM clustering method based on GMM, we classify the depth map into several layered images. Then, we apply different mean shift filter to each classified image according to the existence of background or foreground in it. In other words, we try to maximize the coding efficiency while keeping the boundary of each object and taking average operation toward inner field of the boundary. The experiments are performed with many test images and the results show that the proposed algorithm achieves bits reduction of 19% ~ 20% and computation time is also reduced.
