초전도 전력케이블의 1선 지락고장 특성 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Single Line-to-Ground Fault Analysis of HTS Power Cable)

  • High temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable is expected to be used for power transmission lines supplying electric power for densely populated cities in the near future. Commercializing of HTS power cable is coming. Simulation is required for safety before install of HTS power cable, a fabrication model used at the power system simulation. In this paper, we shows a single line-to ground fault analysis in the grid system which has a 100m length HTS power cable. The authors developed a single line-to-ground fault current calculation method which is considering the shield layer of HTS power cable. In the calculation, the T type equivalent circuit is used to derive the mutual inductance of the HTS power cable.

  • Before applying HTS power cable to the real utility. system analysis should be carried out by some simulation tools . Hereby the electrical power system analysis is very important for practical use of HTS devices. Nowadays PSCAD/EMTDC simulation tool is one of the most popular and useful analysis tool for the electrical power system analysis. Unfortunately the model component for HTS power cable is not provided in the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation tool In this paper. the EMTDC model component for HTS power cable has been developed considering critical current, critical temperature and recovery time constant that depend on the sorts of HTS wire. The numerical model of HTS Power cable in PSCAD/EMTDC was designed by using the real experimented data obtained from the real HTS 1G wire test. The utility application analysis of HTS power cable was also performed using the developed model component and the parameters of the real utility network in this study. The author's got good results. The developed model component for HTS power cable could be variously used when the power system includes HTS power cable, especially it will be readily analyzed by PSCAD/EMTDC in order to obtain the data for the level of fault current power flow, and power losses, and so on.

  • An HTS power cable has multi-layer conductor structure to increase the current capacity. However, usually the current is not evenly distributed among the layers. This paper describes a method to make the current distribution more uniform and hence reduce the AC loss. Also. this paper shows recommendation for future cable conductor prototypes.

  • A Bi-2223 tape has been developed for power applications such as power cables or transformers working at liquid nitrogen temperature. For such applications it is required to understand fault current characteristics of the Bi-2223 tape. In this paper, we report fault current characteristics using two types of samples, straight sample and pancake coil sample. It was found that the fault current characteristics of the Bi-2223 tape are depend on electrical insulations and fault durations strongly. Also it was shown that the fault current characteristics in the insulated straight sample are similar to those in the pancake sample with a conductor insulation. Finally, it was shown that the pancake sample with a layer insulation has better characteristics than that with a conductor insulation for fault currents.

  • In Korea power system, the transfer capability of transmission line is limited by the voltage stability and it is difficult to construct new iron tower due to incremental interest for environmental problem and construction costs. Recently, HTS cable could be one of the countermeasures to solve the transfer limit because of it is transported to large power with compact size However, the characteristic of HTS cable have a various problem. This paper presents the effects of congestion cost reduction by the application of HTS (High-Temperature Superconducting) cable. In this paper, the transmission ability before and after application of HTS cable are examined in a viewpoint for voltage stability. therefore, the effects of congestion cost reduction by HTS cable.

  • As power demand increases gradually, the call for underground transmission system increases. But it is very difficult and high in cost to construct new ducts and/or tunnels for power cables in metropolitan areas. HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) cable has the several useful characteristics such as increased power density, stronger magnetic fields and/or reduced losses. Therefore HTS cable can allow more power to be moved in existing ducts, which means very large economical and environmental benefits. In these days, companies world-wide have conducted researches on HTS cable. A development project for a 22.9kV class HTS cable is proceeding at a research center and university in Korea. In this paper, we investigate the expected price of HTS cable to have a merit in viewpoint of economic aspect. First, life-cycle cost of conventional cable is calculated and based on this, the expected price of HTS cable is evaluated, which HTS cable is competitive against conventional cable.

  • Superconducting transmission power cable is one of interesting parts in power application using high temperature superconducting wire. One of import ant parameters in high-temperature superconduting (HTSC) cable design is transport current distribution because it is related with current transmission capacity and AC loss. In this paper, the transport current distribution at conducting layers was investigated through the analysis of the equivalent circuit for HTSC power cable with shield layer and compared with the case of without shield layer. The transport current distribution due to of the contact resistance and the pitch was improved in the case of HTSC power cable with shield layer from the analysis.

  • One important issue in the design and the optimization for conductor of a superconducting cable is the control of the current distribution flowing at each layers. In this paper, we calculated the self inductance of each layer and the mutual inductance between two layers from the magnetic field energy and investigated the effects of design parameters on the self and mutual inductances for 4-layer conductors with transport current distribution at each layer.

  • We surveyed the recent technical trends concerning high-Tc superconducting(HTS) Power cable R&D around the world, and proposed the course the HTS power cable R&D in Korea should take. The HTS power cable R&D in Korea need be started as soon as posible with focusing on the development and field test of the economical HTS conductors.
