  • In this paper, a 3-dimensional ship structural model which includes the longitudinals and stiffeners is constructed. This model can be constructed from the well-defined data structure which represents the ship structural members and their relationship. So the object-oriented concept for the data structure is introduced. The structural analysis model is automatically generated by extracting the necessary information for structural analysis from the ship structural model : Users need to handle the ship structural model only when any design change occurs because the structural analysis model is automatically generated.

  • Most offshore platforms utilize chain mooring systems for position keeping. However, information regarding related design modification processes is scarce in literature. This study focuses on the floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering terminal (FLBT) as the target of shore platform and analyzes the corresponding initial mooring design and model tests via numerical simulations. Subsequently, based on the modified design conditions, a new mooring system design is proposed. Adjusting the main direction of the mooring line bundle according to the dominant environmental direction is found to significantly reduce the mooring design load. Even turret-moored offshore platforms are exposed to beam sea conditions, leading to high mooring tension due to motions in beam sea conditions. Collinear environmental conditions cannot be considered as design conditions. Mooring design loads occur under complex conditions of wind, waves, and currents in different environmental directions. Therefore, it is essential appropriately assign the roll damping coefficients during mooring analysis because the roll has a significant effect on mooring tension.

  • To develope the best optimized hull form, it has been generalized to evaluate the preliminary hull forms with the CFD tools in the initial stage of development and for this process it is needed to prepare various competent hull forms with high degree of fairness. In this paper, a modified shape variation method was developed to maintain the shape and fairness of parent hull form and the automatic update procedure was implemented on the basis of the association concept. It was shown that the hull form of the high quality in fairness and shape inherited from the parent hull form can be archived.

Numerical Study on Towing Stability of LNG Bunkering Barge in Calm Water (LNG 벙커링 바지의 정수 중 예인안정성에 관한 수치연구)

  • In this paper, the towing stability of the LNG bunker barge was estimated. Currently, LNG bunkering barge is being developed for the bunkering of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), an eco-friendly energy source. Since the LNG bunkering barge assumes the form of a towed ship connected to the tow line, the towing stability of the LNG bunker barge is crucial f not only for the safety of the LNG bunker barge but also the neighboring sailing vessels. In the initial stages, a numerical code for towing simulation was developed to estimate the towing stability of the LNG bunkering barge. The MMG (Maneuvering Mathematical modeling Group) model was applied to the equations of motion while the empirical formula was applied to the maneuvering coefficients for use in the initial design stage. To validate the developed numerical code, it was compared with published calculation and model test results. Towing simulations were done based on the changing skeg area and the towing position of the LNG bunkering barge using the developed numerical codes. As a result, the suitability of the designed stern skeg area was confirmed.

초고속선의 선형개발과 CFD

  • 수치 해석적 방법으로서의 CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics)는 급속한 전산기성능의 발달과 더불어 많은 발전을 거듭하고 있으며, 특히 선박분야에 있어서도 일반선형에 대한 주위의 유 동장해석 및 성능추정, 초기설계에의 응용에서 그 활용성이 입증되고 있다. 따라서, 초고속선에 대하여도, CFD의 대표적 장점이라 할 수 있는 실선에 대한 수치실험이 짧은 시간에 저가의 경비로 가능하다는 것과 그 결과가 모형선 실험결과보다 상세하고 충실한 정보의 확보가능 등을 감안한다면, 앞으로 초기 초고속선 선형개발단계에서 CFD의 적용을 기대해 볼만 할 것이다. 이러한 관점으로부터, 본 고에서는 초고속선의 선형개발에 있어서 CFD의 활용성에 관하여 고 찰해 보고자 한다.

  • Shipbuilding is a kind of ETO(Engineering To Order) industry which designs and produces a product in accordance to various requirement of customers, rules and regulations. Recently, the number of ordered ships has been increased by up to two or three times in each domestic shipyards. Most shipyards have been adopted 3D ship CAD, ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) and APS(Advanced Planning System) to get an efficient product development and manufacturing system. However, not only the effective operation of 3D ship CAD, ERP and APS but also the production efficiency can be achieved only if product information management which can manages the product data is implemented in an integrated environment. Present study has suggested a systematic approach to implement a PLM system to manage the product data in early design shipbuilding. Also, a prototype of PLM is implemented to manage the product data in a basic ship-design. In the prototype system, a product structure and architecture of PLM is considered.

  • Korea Institute of Machinery and Metals(KIMM) purchased a computer program for preliminary ship design from the ship Research Institute of Norway(NSFI). The program PROCAL(PROject CALculation) is described with other programs developed by NSFI such as SHIPMODEL, FLEET, SHIPSHAPE, SKRIN.

  • 한국형 해저원유 초기생산 시스템은 제주도 남쪽의 한.일 공동개발구역 및 이와 유사한 조건의 지역에서 소규모 유전이 발견되었을때, 빠른 시간내에 저렴한 초기투자비로 석유를 생산할 수 있도록 개발되었다. 이 시스템은 원유저장용 선박, tower, yoke, gravity base 및 원유처리장치들로 구성되어 있으며 각 구조믈들은 pin 또는 universal joint들로 연결되어있다. 본 구조물의 파도중에서의 동적거동은 전산 program을 이용하여 구하여 wave tank에서 수행된 실험의 결과와 비교, 검토하였다. 그리고 이들 결과를 이용하여 구조적 안전성을 검토하였으며, 설계, 해석 및 model test의 결과들은 선급협회의 승인을 받았다.
