Resource Allocation for Converged Mobile Multimedia Services (모바일 멀티미디어 융합 서비스를 위한 자원 할당 방법)

  • Advances in mobile communication and digital video technology enable to commercialize converged multimedia services such as VoD in the mobile networks. Media convergence is evolving into U-Cloud and mobile IP-TV services constituted by high-speed mobile multimedia networks and integrated personal devices. This paper proposes a resource allocation scheme to guarantee QoS of converged mobile multimedia services, and simultaneously maximize legacy services in heterogeneous wireless networks. Performances are analyzed by the simulation.

  • Based on the rapid development of IT technology and deployment of the Internet through high speed networks, network environments have been changed from office oriented environment based on business industries and public institution even to the interconnection to digital electronics in the home network. Home network based applications are very diverse and the remote monitoring and control areas have been studied. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of real time remote video monitoring system which provide the moving pictures on the web page through the Internet using JMFI. In addition, we present the design of remote light control system based on Zigbee.

  • With the progress in high speed internet networks, mobile devices and social networking, the eco-system of the media has shifted from that where the flow of content was one-way from the producer to the consumer. A so-called 'prosumer' culture has taken root where the consumer himself produces media content. Along with these trends, various video-sharing platforms such as youtube has a method of allocating advertisement profit to the content producer, offering a win-win platform for content pro-sumers. This allows the channels to attract several tens of millions of subscribers and raise an annual income of over 10 billion Won, marking a revolutionary change in the content industry. This paper seeks to analyze video distribution channels and short-form media content that are showing continuous growth to identify new markets where animated content can make progress in an era of online video media platforms, as well as provide a future direction for small teams of creators of animated films to survive and thrive in this environment.

A 2-Tier Server Architecture for Real-time Multiple Rendering (실시간 다중 렌더링을 위한 이중 서버 구조)

  • The wide-spread use of the broadband Internet service makes the cloud computing-based gaming service possible. A game program is executed on a cloud node and its live image is fed into a remote user's display device via video streaming. The user's input is immediately transmitted and applied to the game. The minimization of the time to process remote user's input and transmit the live image back to the user and thus satisfying the requirement of instant responsiveness for gaming makes it possible. However, the cost to build its servers can be very expensive to provide high quality 3D games because a general purpose graphics system that cloud nodes are likely to have for the service supports a single 3D application at a time. Thus, the server must have a technology of 'realtime multiple rendering' to execute multiple 3D games simultaneously. This paper proposes a new architecture of 2-tier servers of clouds nodes of which one group executes multiple games and the other produces game's live images. It also performs a few experimentations to prove the feasibility of the new architecture.

A Real-time Copper Foil Inspection System using Multi-thread (다중 스레드를 이용한 실시간 동판 검사 시스템)

  • The copper foil surface inspection system is necessary for the factory automation and product quality. The developed system is composed of the high speed line scan camera, the image capture board and the processing computer. For the system resource utilization and real-time processing, multi-threaded architecture is introduced. There are one image capture thread, 2 or more defect detection threads, and one defect communication thread. To process the high-speed input image data, the I/O overlap is used through the double buffering. The defect is first detected by the predetermined threshold. To cope with the light irregularity, the compensation process is applied. After defect detection, defect type is classified with the defect width, eigenvalue ratio of the defect covariance matrix and gray level of defect. In experiment, for high-speed input image data, real-time processing is possible with multi -threaded architecture, and the 89.4% of the total 141 defects correctly classified.

  • With the advent of integration environment of broadcasting and communication, IPTV has been widely used. It provides services such as information, movie contents and broadcasting through TV using super-high speed networks. Developments of Wireless LAN and IP network technology create various and fusional services such as IPTV, VoIP that are based on IP network. The development of Wireless LAN is very important in IPTV network field which requires the best quality of service on the security, QoS and bandwidth. In this Paper, We configure the experimental network in its RIP and OSPF environment to test the Video Quality of IPTV in Wireless LAN. We measure and evaluate broadcasting quality by using PSNR to show the corelation of Routing Protocols in Wireless LAN in which how they affect to the IPTV real-time Video Quality.

A Blocking Algorithm of a Target Object with Exposed Privacy Information (개인 정보가 노출된 목표 객체의 블로킹 알고리즘)

  • The wired and wireless Internet is a useful window to easily acquire various types of media data. On the other hand, the public can easily get the media data including the object to which the personal information is exposed, which is a social problem. In this paper, we propose a method to robustly detect a target object that has exposed personal information using a learning algorithm and effectively block the detected target object area. In the proposed method, only the target object containing the personal information is detected using a neural network-based learning algorithm. Then, a grid-like mosaic is created and overlapped on the target object area detected in the previous step, thereby effectively blocking the object area containing the personal information. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm robustly detects the object area in which personal information is exposed and effectively blocks the detected area through mosaic processing. The object blocking method presented in this paper is expected to be useful in many applications related to computer vision.

  • A work as human's creatures are transformed to bits and multimedia. In the modem society which is governed by simulation, infornlation is symbolized and becoming easily reached to anyone. Thus, collections of image and composition can show a new world beyond the ethical viewpoint. The problem with worries about the differnce between the original and a copy and disappearence of the meaning in postmodern era is the problem of how to set the intellectual properties and copyrights.In this situation, sharing of information according to the theoretical concepts and process of digitalization of photos in the era of information-intensive society was presented. The ethics of intellectual properties and copyrights and in postmordern era were driven. After reviewing the intellectual properties in the era of national information infrastructure of twenty-first century and by identifying the problems, the directions of what we have to do as image makers, and the intellectual properties and copyright.

A Study on a Mobile Terminal Platform for a High Speed Mobile Multimedia System (초고속 이동멀티미디어 시스템을 위한 이동단말 플랫폼 연구)

  • This paper presents a L3 mobile terminal platform of the mobile terminal system which is a subsystem of HMm(Hig-speed Mobile Multimedia) system, which layer 3 control protocols such as RC(Radio Control), SC(Session Control), MC(Mobility Control) and application services such as VOD, FTP, VoIP for a multimedia mobile terminal are implemented on. The hardware platform is based on PXA255 and supports various interfaces and multimedia devices, and under the platform, an embedded Linux generated by the self-maden cross-toolchain, L3 control protocols and application programs were installed. The operation of HMm system under the HMm testbed has shown that this platform successfully supported SIP services, web browsing services, streaming services and etc as well as call processing. It could be the reference of the upcoming Fourth-Generation mobile terminal which the multimedia functionality will be enforced.
