체중을 줄이면 혈당도 내려간다!

  • 최근 우리나라의 당뇨병이 비만을 동반하는 '선진국형' 당뇨병으로 바뀌어 가고 있다. 비만은 당뇨병을 일으키는 주요 요인일 뿐 아니라 합병증을 유발할 수 있어 한국인의 비만 탈출이 더욱 강조된다. 또한 약간의 체중 감소가 비만한 당뇨인의 질병 진행을 막을 수 있다는 반가운 보고가 있어 당뇨병환자가 체중을 줄이는 것이 어떤 의미가 있는지 알아봤다.

  • 베타-사이클로덱스트린은 7개의 글루코스 단위가 $\alpha$-1,4 결합으로 연결된 환상고리형 올리고당으로서 전분을 효소처리하여 추출한 물질이다. 베타-사이클로덱스트린은 혈액내 지질 함량을 현저하게 떨어뜨릴 수 있는 hypolipdemic, hypotriacylglyceridemic 그리고 hypocholesterolemic 효과를 가지므로 비만을 예방하는데 도움이 될 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 베타-사이클로덱스트린을 이용하여 조제된 펠렛 형태의 식이가 비만인의 체중, 체지방, 복부비만 감소 및 혈액 지질함량 감소에 미치는 효과를 조사하는 것이었다.   • 외인성 췌장부전은 췌장에서 분비되는 소화효소의 부족한 합성 및 분비에 기인한다. 대부분의 개체에서 보이는 임상증상은 체중감소, 다량의 연변, 지방변이다. 혈청 고양이 유사트립신 면역활성 농도검사는 외인성 췌장부전 진단에 있어 매우 유용한 검사법이다. 외인성 췌장부전 환자의 치료는 췌장 소화효소의 공급이다. 대부분의 외인성 췌장부전 환자에서 심각한 혈청 코발라민의 감소와 동반되기 때문에 코발라민의 투여는 반드시 필요하다. 마지막으로 개에 비해 흔하게 확인되진 않지만, 만성적인 연변 및 체중감소를 보이는 환자에서는 진단에 있어 외인성 췌장부전에 대한 고려가 필요하다.

  • To determine the response of soybean cultivars to nitrogen in relation to acidity, nodulation, content of allantoin nitrogen and major chemical compositions of soybean plants were investigated with two cultivars under two levels of soil pH and four levels of nitrogen fertilization in a field and nutri-culture experiments. Nodulation and contents of allantoin nitrogen, total nitrogen, potassium, calcium, magnesium and manganese of soybean plants decreased under acidic condition, but the degree of decrease was smaller in the variety Jangbaegkong compared to the variety Danyeobkong. On the other hand, nodulation, content of allantoin nitrogen and potassium decreased with increased nitrogen fertilization, particulary under pH 7 condition. Nodulation was positively correlated with the content of allantoin nitrogen of soybean plants. The content of total nitrogen of soybean plants increased with increased nitrogen fertilization, and this tendency was remarkable under acidic condition and in the variety Jangbaegkong.

Lifestyle and dietary changes related to weight gain in college students during the COVID-19 pandemic (COVID-19 유행 동안 대학생의 체중증가와 관련된 생활습관 및 식생활 변화)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to assess the weight fluctuations in college students during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and identify lifestyle and dietary changes related to weight gain. Methods: An online survey was conducted on 270 college students from September 22 to October 26, 2021. A logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the relationship of weight gain with the general characteristics, lifestyle, and dietary changes of the students. Results: Among the respondents, 42.9% of men and 44.7% of women reported weight gain. The main reasons given for weight gain were reduced activities due to restrictions during lockdown and diet changes, mainly relating to delivered or fast foods. Among the general characteristics and lifestyle factors poor perceived health (odds ratio [OR], 3.97, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.98-7.96) and being underweight (OR, 0.19, 95% CI, 0.05-0.83) were significantly associated with weight gain. With respect to the diet, increased frequency of eating breakfasts (OR, 4.44, 95% CI, 1.76-11.21), decreased frequency of eating snacks (OR, 0.35, 95% CI, 0.16-0.77), decreased frequency of fruit intake (OR, 3.0, 95% CI, 1.32-6.80), increased frequency of carbonated and sweetened beverage intake (OR, 2.74, 95% CI, 1.26-5.99) and increased frequency of fast food consumption (OR, 2.32, 95% CI, 1.14-4.70) were significantly associated with weight gain. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic affected weight gain and caused lifestyle and dietary changes. Specific health and nutrition management plans should be prepared for handling future epidemics of infectious diseases based on the results of surveys conducted on larger sample size.

  • 지방세포인 murine pre-adipocyte 3T3L1 cell에 분화호르몬 혼합물을 처리하여 mature adipocyte로 분화시켜서 bovine LF을 100 ug 처리하였다. Bovine LF을 처리한 mature adipocyte 3T3L1 cell은 대조구보다 지방세포의 지질방울들의 수와 크기가 작아진 것으로 관찰되었다. LF가 비만마우스의 체중감소에 미치는 영향은 매일 5mg의 LF을 투여구는 대조구와 같은 경향으로 시간이 지남에 따라 체중이 증가 되었으나 매일 10mg의 LF 투여구는 투여 후 10일부터 대조구보다 약 15${\sim}$25% 정도 체중이 감소되었다. Cholesterol은 대조구에서는 138mg/ml이었으나 LF 10mg 투여구에서는 130mg/ml로 감소되었고 혈당량은 대조구에 비해 LF 10mg 투여구에서 약 10% 정도 높았다.

A Study on Urination Amount Estimation for the Male by the Measurement of Body Weight Difference (체중 변화 측정을 통한 남성 배뇨량 추정 방법 연구)

  • In this study, a method for estimating the amount of urination for men, was suggested and its performance was evaluated. This study is a preliminary one for the development of a health monitoring system that needs un-constraining, non-intrusive and long-term measurements in daily life. To estimate the amount of urination, a wide weighing plate with load cell was built and the difference in a man's weights between before and after urination was measured while he was standing on the plate. The results showed that the amount of urination can be estimated with the measured weight difference under the condition of mild movements. The largest measurement error of the suggested method was 40g, which means that this method can be applied to health monitoring in daily life. It is expected that the results of this study will be the basis for developing practical un-constraining and non-intrusive health monitoring system for daily use at home.

  • A pot experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of Cd and Zn added to soil on the growth, peroxidase activity, chlorophyll content, inorganic components, and interaction between Cd and Zn in corn plant. The results obtained are as follows. Both Cd and Zn reduced dry weight and height of corn plant. Peroxidase activity of leaves increased in higher Cd content of shoot but adverse trend was shown with increasing Zn content of shoots. Chlorophyll contents were significantly decreased with increase of both Cd and Zn content of shoots. Higher soil Cd levels increased N content but decreased P, K, Ca, Mg and $SiO_2$ content in plant. Wherease higher Zn levels in soil increased P and $SiO_2$ content but decreased N, Ca, Mg content in plant. The total Cd and Zn uptake of shoot increased with time but the Cd and Zn content of shoot showed no tendency. Cadmium uptake by Zn application was reduced in higher Zn levels with time while Zn uptake by Cd application showed adverse trend.
