  • The purpose of this study is to examine the impacts of neighborhood sports activity facilities on the exercise time and subjective health level using the National Sport Participation Survey data(2013-2015) in Seoul, Korea. We conducted path analysis including exercise time, subjective health level and various environmental factors. From the survey data, we extracted individual's characteristics including subjective health and exercise time. In addition, we calculated physical environment variables of neighborhood units. The results of this study are as follow. First, most of moderating variables such as gender, age, income and job showed expected relationships with exercise time or subjective health level. Second, the perceived level regarding neighborhood sports facilities such as public sports facilities had a strong positive association with exercise time and subjective health level. Third, the area of public sports facility, neighborhood park and the number of schools had positive effects on the exercise time and subjective health level. Lastly, land use mix and the number of intersections showed a positive effects on exercise time. To sum up, the results indicated that public sports facility, neighborhood park and perceived environment on neighborhood sports facility are critical factors of residents' exercise time and subjective health level.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand barriers and problems associated with physical activity of older adults in a small town and to provide improvement plans based on socio-ecological model. This study employed three independent phases including survey, accelerometer study, and photovoice. Three phases were analyzed based on nesting design among diverse mixed method designs. Among 134 older participants, 73 older individuals reported that their physical activity per week was less than 150min in the first phase. Among the 73 older individuals, 40 older individuals participated in the second phase. In the second phase, 32 older individuals does not meet at least 150min of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA) suggested by DHHS. Finally, 6 older adults participated in the third phase. Five major themes emerged including 1) lack of proper information and service regarding physical activity, 2)lack of support from people close to them, 3)some limits due to chronic disease, 4)lack of appropriate facility, and 5)lack of opportunity due to existing inactive lifestyle. Based on these five themes, this study attempted to provide the improvement plans with socio-ecological model.

  • The purpose of this study is to test the mediating effect of coping plan and action plan in the relation between leisure-time physical activity(LTPA) intention and exercise behavior and to extend the literature in theory of planned behavior. We examined the mediating role of implementation plan-namely coping plan and action plan in the effect of intention to physical activity on exercise behavior. To attain the goal of study, we asked collegiate students (n=253; male=118, female=105) report their intention toward LTPA, coping plan, action plan, and self-reported exercise behavior. Collected data was analyzed using statistical program software (i.e., SPSS, AMOS) for SEM and mediation analyses. The results revealed that intention toward LTPA was positively related to implementation plan (coping plan and action plan) and exercise behavior. Collegiate students' intention toward LTPA positively predicted their exercise behavior mediated by implementation plans. Specifically, LTPA intention among collegiate students predicted their exercise behavior via coping plan and action plan. The findings showed that coping plan and action plan partially mediated in the relation between LTPA intention and exercise behavior. In conclusion, students' intention to be getting physical active in leisure-time physical activity explains lifetime physical activity or the level of recent exercise behavior possibly via coping plan (e.g., how to overcome barriers to exercise) and action plan (e.g., when and where I exercise and get physically active). The conceptualization of coping plan and action plan in implementation plans and test of its model better to explain the intention-behavior gap would help exercise instructors or practitioners effectively develop their plans and strategies toward targeted exercise behavior.

  • This study aims to investigate overall factors regarding participation process such as process to pro-environmental behavior, pro-environmental behavior, continuing factors and constraint factors of outdoor recreation participants, and to determine logical correlation between them in order to make a theory model. To this end, grounded theory approach is applied for interpretation. First, pro-environmental behavior of outdoor recreation participants was formed by sequential influence of causal conditions and situational context. Second, outdoor recreation participants who participated in pro-environmental behavior of central phenomenon experienced peculiar continuing factors and constraint factors but it was found they also experienced general continuing factors and constraint factors. Third, it was analyzed that resultant settlement of pro-environmental leisure activities was partially fed back to the participation continuing factors of mediating conditions and a club of interaction strategy. Result from this study will give a help to widely understand experience of participation in leisure and restraints on leisure of outdoor recreation participants, and to development of study through organic combination between subsequent researches.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the level of participation in sports for the disabled on the community attachment. The subjects of this study were 227 persons with physical disabilities in D city. The analysis method was analyzed by factor analysis, frequency analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 program. The results of this study are as follows: First, there is a high level of community attachment to male(sex), 40's and 50's(by age group) and 1st and 2nd grade(by disability grade). Second, in the degree of participation, the duration of exercise and duration of exercise, duration of exercise in dependency, and duration of exercise and intensity of exercise were found to have a positive effect on identity. As a result, it affected the consciousness of local community. In future research, it is necessary to study the psychological effect connected with community.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore how SCUBA diving instructors' perception on their divers affects the buddy selection process in SCUBA diving clubs. For the purpose of this study, 6 people who have more than 5 year experiences and have been working as instructor in scuba diving clubs were selected as research participants. The results are as follows. First, they perceived necessity of buddy selection through awareness of importance of buddy through education and through partner perception to overcome perceived danger. Second, when selecting a buddy, they established standards according to level whether they have a rescue diver license and secured standards through new sense of value. Third, buddy selection determinants were interaction between buddies, mutual trust and realization of buddy's role. As such, a SCUBA diver should select other buddy to perform pair diving and buddy is selected based on relationship such as mutual communication, mutual trust and belief. When they perform buddy's role comprehensively based on mutual relationship with buddy, continuous relationship as buddies can be built.

The subjects in this study were 486 male and female students who attend university in the city of Daejeon and Chungnam in 2009. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed with a SPSS 14.0 program. A frequency analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and correlation analysis were carried out. The findings of the study were as follows: as for the relationship of demographic characteristics to satisfaction with Physical Education. general education courses and exercise adherence, there were partially significant gaps in the two regards according to gender, major and academic year. All the subfactors of satisfaction with the instruction had a positive correlation to exercise adherence, and satisfaction with Physical Education. general education courses exerted a great influence on exercise adherence. It implied that better satisfaction with the instruction led to stronger exercise adherence, which suggests how college Physical Education. general education courses should be offered to encourage students to enjoy lifelong sports.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify improvement in locomotor skills by physical activity programs. Method of this study indicates that the current literature (2004-2015) were reviewed and the data from 24 studies with 518 disabled children were analyzed by using CMA3 (Comprehensive Meta-Analysis ver.3) program. Analyzing the data of the primary studies included gender, age, type of disabilities, duration of the physical activity program intervention(weeks, session per week, minutes per session), run, gallop, hop, leap, horizontal jump, and slide. For sensitivity analysis, publication bias and outlier were reviewed. Results of analysis indicates that the overall effect size of improvement in locomotor skills by physical activity programs was 1.143. There were large effect size in categorical analyses. Autistic spectrum among type of disabilities was 1.697 and run among 6 of locomotor skills was 1.019. 8~10 aged was 0.920 and the intervention of 100~120minutes(1.261)per session, 3sessions(1.078) per week, 16~20(1.587)weeks was found to be more larger than the others. In conclusion, improvement in locomotor skills by program participation showed that treated group was 37% more effective than control group.
