  • Recently, thermography camera have been using for body-temperature monitoring. We report on fabrication of prototype thermography camera using the chalcogenide-glass lens and the camera test by analysis of thermal image. In this work, it was found out that thermography camera discerned body-temperature between 20 and $50^{\circ}C$ with noise equivalent temperature difference(NETD) of 87.7mK. It is confirmed that thermography camera using the chalcogenide-glass lens is applicable to the body-temperature monitoring system.

  • The changes in the blood flow in the peripheral vascular system under strong pulsed magnetic fields (pMF) were studied by digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI). After pMF stimulus temperatures in stimulated area were commonly increased in both groups of age and gender. In order to reduce heat generated from coil in pMF stimulus system plastic moldings were fabricated, so that certain distance was kept between stimulus system and the skin and to prevent direct contact to the skin. It is believed that skin temperature is increased by internal electromagnetic energy stimulated the peripheral vascular system by non-contact method.

  • This study was carried out to assess the usefulness of thermography for diagnosis and healing process of musculoskeletal disorder in horses. Horses with experimentally induced infectious arthritis were treated with bee venom or antibiotics for 5 weeks from 24 hours after inoculation of Staphylococcus aureus, the effectiveness of the 2 therapeutic drugs treatment was similar to each other. Thermographic evaluation was similar to any other tests, because the thermal pattern tend to return to normal with declining similar to those of clinical signs, laboratory experiments and healing of the lesion. This ability to assess inflammatory change noninvasively make thermography an ideal imaging tool to aid in the diagnosis of certain lameness condition or musculoskeletal disease in horses. These results suggested that thermographic evaluation in horses with musculoskeletal disorders were useful for diagnosis and helpful for monitoring of healing process.

  • Thermography is a diagnostic procedures that measures infrared energy emitted by the skin. Thermography detects body temperature change which are controlled by the autonomic nervous system. It does show the thermal dysfunction that correlates closely with pain syndromes as well as normalization when the healing process takes place. Experienced clinical interpretation of the thermal pattern is necessary to diagnose and establish causation. Thermography is useful in the diagnosis of painful conditions such as herniated disc diseases, myofascial syndrome, myositis, musculoligamentous injury, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, athretic injuries, vascular diseases, arthritis, inflammation and breast tumors.

  • This study was to find out the correlation between abdominal surface temperature and abdominal fat areas. CT and MRI methods have been used to assess abdominal fat area. Abdominal surface temperature according to abdominal fat area was also measured by DITI. 20 college students were selected as the subjects for the study. The results, showed that there were statistically different significance in abdominal fats measured by CT and MRI according to weight groups. Abdominal surface temperature gap were measured by DITI and there was a statistically significant difference in only T12 region. temperature gaps between weight groups were over $0.7^{\circ}C$. In conclusion, CT method is the most accurate method to measure abdominal fat. However, weak points are radiation exposure and high cost for study. The correlation between abdominal surface temperature and abdominal fat areas were strong. Therefore, DITI may be considered as useful convenient method to evaluate the abdominal obesity and clinical usefulness.

  • Objectives As a method of body temperature distribution diagnosis, palpation of infants' forehead had been widely introduced in ancient East Asian medical classics. However, few attention have been paid to this diagnostic method - so called 'emaizhenduan So we studied the history of emaizhenduan and it's implication in modern clinical field. Materials and methods: To search the medical classic that contains any contents of emaizhenduan, we mainly used the electronic texts of Zhonghuayidian To search modern study article on emaizhenduan, we used China National Knowledge Infrastructure (www.cnki.net), National Digital Science Library (ndsl.kr) etc. Results 20 kinds of East Asian medical classics were found to contain contents on emaizhenduan. The oldest one was Huoyoukouyi (活幼口議) which was written in Yuan dynasty of China. Only one modern TCM book was found to have comments on emaizhenduan, while some textbooks of pediatrics in Korean Medicine was found to have relatively sound introduction on emaizhenduan. Conclusion It is shown in ancient East Asian medical classics that infants' forehead temperature palpation was introduced as early as late 13th century in China, and have continuously been referred in many East Asian medical classics before modern era.

  • This study was performed to examine the absolute skin temperature and temperature difference $({\Delta}T)$ between the left and the right, the upper and the lower parts on the back of dog and to investigate the clinical usefulness of infrared thermography as diagnostic or prognostic aid on experimental spinal cord compression by using Digital Infrared Imaging System. In normal dogs, symmetrical and contouring patterns were observed in thermogram. The skin temperature difference was not significant between the left and the right, the upper and the lower parts on the back. In spinal cord compressed dog, there was symmetrical temperature reduction pattern around lesion. Patterns of ${\Delta}T$ between thoracic and lumbar portions were remarkable and showed the tendency to return to normal after 4 weeks of operation. It is considered that infrared thermography is a useful diagnostic and prognostic aid for spinal cord injury in dogs.

디지틀적외선 체열촬영은 DTI-16-DOREX21(Dorex Inc., U.S.A) 기기를 사용하였다.
