Remarks on the Use of Multivariate Skewness and Kurtosis for Testing Multivariate Normality (정규성 검정을 위한 다변량 왜도와 첨도의 이용에 대한 고찰)

  • Malkovich & Afifi (1973) generalized the univariate skewness and kurtosis to test a hypothesis of multivariate normality by use of the union-intersection principle. However these statistics are hard to compute for high dimensions. We propose the approximate statistics to them, which are practical for a high dimensional data set. We also compare the proposed statistics to Mardia(1970)'s multivariate skewness and kurtosis by a Monte Carlo study.

Property Change by Organic Additives in Electroplated Nickel-copper Thin Films (유기첨가제에 의한 전기도금 니켈-구리 박막의 물성변화)

  • We investigated the effects of organic additives on the properties of nickel-copper thin films prepared by electroplating. Compared with thin films fabricated by pure electrolyte only, the films utilizing organic additives show different crystalline orientations. With no alteration of plating conditions simply adding the organic materials changed the composition of copper and nickel. The concentration of nickel could be varied to $65-95\%$ depending on the species and concentration of the additives. The change of material property has contributed to the increase or decrease of the magnetoresistance.

  • Outliers and influential data points distort many data analysis measures. Jang and Anderson-Cook (2014) proposed a graphical method called a rework plot for exploratory analysis purpose so that there could be a possible visualization of the trace of the impact of the possible outlying and/or influential data points on the univariate/bivariate data analysis and regression. They developed 3-D plot as well as pairwise plot for the appropriate measures of interest. This paper further extends their approach to identify its strength. We can use rework plots as a graphical exploratory data analysis tool to evaluate the impact of outliers in skewness and kurtosis of univariate data.

Biocompatibility of Tissue-Engineered Heart Valve Leaflets Based on Acellular Xenografts (세포를 제거한 이종 심장 판막 이식편을 사용한 조직공학 심장 판막첨의 생체 적합성에 대한 연구)

  • Current artificial heart valves have several disadvantages, such as thromboembolism, limited durability, infection, and inability to grow. The solution to these problems would be to develop a tissue-engineered heart valves containing autologous cells. The aim of this study was to optimize the protocol to obtain a porcine acellular matrix and seed goat autologous endothelial cells on it, and to evaluate the biological responses of xenograft and xeno-autograft heart valves in goats. Material and Method: Fresh porcine pulmonic valves were treated with one method among 3 representative decellularization protocols (Triton-X, freeze-thawing, and NaCl-SDS). Goat venous endothelial cells were isolated and seeded onto the acellularized xenograft leaflets. Microscopic examinations were done to select the most effective method of decellularizing xenogeneic cells and seeding autologous endothelial cells. Two pulmonic valve leaflets of. 6 goats were replaced by acellularized porcine leaflets with or without seeding autologous endothelial cells while on cardiopulmonary bypass. Goats were sacrificed electively at 6 hours, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6. months after operation. Morphologic examinations were done to see the biological responses of replaced valve leaflets. Result: The microscopic examinations showed that porcine cells were almost completely removed in the leaflets treated with NaCl-SDS. The seeded endothelial cells were more evenly preserved in NaCl-SDS treatment. All 6 goats survived the operation without complications. The xeno- autografts and xenografts showed the appearance, the remodeling process, and the cellular functions of myofibroblasts, 1 day, 1 month, and 3 months after operation, respectively. They were compatible with the native pulmonary leaflet (control group) except for the increased cellularity at 6 months. The xenografts revealed the new endothelial cell lining at that time. Conclusion: Treatment with NaCl-SDS was most effective in obtaining decellularized xenografts and facilitate seeding autologous endothelial cells. The xenografts and xeno-autografts were repopulated with myofibroblasts and endothelial cells in situ serially. Both of grafts served as a matrix for a tissue engineered heart valve and developed into autologous tissue for 6 months.

Physical and Mechanical Properties of Board Made from Carbonized Rice Husk (왕겨숯을 이용하여 제조한 보드의 물성)

  • This study was investigated on the properties of board made from carbonized rice husk differed in density of board, resin addition ratio and sawdust addition ratio. Water absorption is showed the lowest value to 80.09% when the resin addition ratio of 25%, as the density increased and sawdust addition ratio decreased, the water absorption was decreased. The measured thickness swelling satisfied with the quality standards of KS F 3104, so the feasibility of building interior has been confirmed in the dimensional stability. In case of resin addition ratio of 25%, the internal bond strength was satisfied quality standards of KS F 3104 to $0.244N/mm^2$. With increasing the density, resin and sawdust addition ratio, brinell hardness increased.

  • We investigated the changes of the magnetic properties in electroplated Permalloy thin films by a few organic additives added to the plating electrolytes. Under identical electroplating conditions, the crystalline orientations and the surface roughness of the plated thin films were different from those prepared with a pure electrolyte. These property changes reduced the coercivity and increased the magnetoimpedance ratio (MIR) up to 20%.

  • 본 논문에서는 다중해상도에서 기존의 그레이 블록 거리(grey biock distance; GBD, 이하 GBD)알고리즘과 비교하여 이차원 영상간의 상대적 식별을 더 용이하게 하기 위한 새로운 GBD 알고리즘 방법을 제안한다. 이 제시된 방법은 다중해상도에서 기존의 GBD 알고리즘과 비교해서 영상이 급격히 변화하는 부분의 정보를 잃지 않게 개선할 수 있었다. 모의 실험 예로서 주성분분석(principal component analysis; 이하 PCA) 기법을 적용하여 유용성과 제안된 방법이 이전의 연구보다 k가 감소할 때 편차는 줄어들어 좋은 영상 분류 특징을 보였으며, 첨도(Kurtosis)에서의 영상간의 거리 측정 결과 첨도가 가지고 있는 특성에 의해 영상 분류 시 매우 민감한 반응을 나타내어 k가 4까지만 블록을 분할 할 수 있음을 모의 실험을 통하여 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 심장의 활동을 전기적 변위로 표현되는 심전도 신호는 심장병 진단에 중요한 임상적 파라미터들을 제공한다. 특히 심전도 신호에서 P, QRS Complex,, T 특징점들로 대표되는 파형 변곡점들의 시간상 위치와 크기 및 형태학적 모양은 심장의 이상 리듬을 나타내는 부정맥여부를 검출하는데 핵심적인 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 특히 QRS complex 구간에 대한 첨도치의 연산 해석을 통하여 정상적인 심전도 리듬과 심실조기수축 부정맥 리듬을 구분하는 방법을 제시하고 또한 스마트폰을 기반으로 하는 심전도 모니터링 시스템에 적용하고자 하였다.

Properties of Boards Prepared From Woody of Broussonetia Kazinoki Sieb. (닥나무 목질부로 제조된 보드의 성질(I))

  • This study was investigated the properties of boards prepared from woody of Broussonetia Kazinoki differed in density of board and mixed quantity of powdered phenolic resin. Water absorption decreased as the density of boards and resin content increased, but bending strength and brinell hardness increased as the density of board and the quantity of resin added increased. Thickness swelling increased as the density of boards went up, and that, in contrary, decreased as the quantity of resin added to the boards.
