A Case Study of Ground Improvement on Railroad Station Foundation by the Application of CGS Method. (역사기초 보강 공법으로써 CGS 공법 적용사례 연구)

  • Recenlty, there are many cases that structures are constructed on soft ground in domestic. Generally in those cases, appropriate geotechnical techniques for the ground are needed. In this study, an example for ground improvement of OO railroad station construction site is introduced and analyzed. The ground conditions of this site which is soft ground are that N value is under 6, average depth and ground water table is 24.4m, GL-1.7. So, as a countermeasure technique for bearing reinforcement, Compaction Grouting System (CGS) method was applied on construction site. To estimate the application of CGS method, piezo cone penetration test and static pile loading test were carried out during the construction. Results of analysis show that CGS method for improving the bearing capacity of soft ground is applicable for the ground well.

  • Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) contribute to the formation of ozone and PAN which are injurious to health through complex photochemical reactions. Growing consumption of fossil fuels results in significant emission of VOCs and other air pollutants into the atmosphere. In this study, Ambient an grab samples of VOCs were collected at the platform and the concourse of six stations in the subway from February 21th to 28th. Among the total contents, Toluene (118.74 ppm) showed the highest concentration in the Indukwon station platform while other contents were measured low concentrations. Also, the platform concentrations were higher than the concourse concentrations through the whole contents.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the design standard for load density in subway station. From the data of electric equipment capacity and electric power consumption for 43 subway stations, current levels of the load density and excess capacity factor were surveyed and analyzed, In addition mean value, standard deviation, maximum value, median value and correlation coefficient were evaluated through excel program. Also it was carried out the regression analysis. The estimation method of load density and design criterion were studied. As a result, load density in this thesis have been proposed : 51.3 $[VA/m^2]$ on the general power load can be a standard value for subway station.

  • In our modern society, such electric facilities as lighting, elevators, water supplies, drainages, waste water treatments and landscape lighting are being more enlarged, diversified and technology-intensive owing to outstanding technological development, while they require reliable and safe electricity. On the other hand, as more electric energy is consumed with more complicated systems operated, any accident from a personal electric system is likely to have wider spreading effects. In particular, the electric receivers and transformers installed for such public facilities as subway stations require highest safety, reliability and economy, but such requirements tend to be less considered than such financial requirements as budget conditions, much less their safety and reliability. In such a circumstance, this study was aimed at suggesting some standards for safe, reliable and economic subway electric systems in terms of their scale, location and uses. Specifically, this study put forwards the ways to optimize and standardize the electric systems including receivers and transformers for subway stations in order to make them safer, more reliable and economic.

  • The electric facilities for subway stations require reliable and safe electricity in spite of their load increases rapidly. Nevertheless, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation reports that the accidents of independent electric facilities increased greatly from 4,632 cases in 1998 to 6,024 in 1999 and 6,776 cases in 2000, while the ratio of the accidents related with transformers grew gradually. As it is, it is deemed very important to minimize the spreading effects of the electric system accidents and thereby, enhance reliability of the electric supply as well as its safety. According to the fact that the electric facilities for subway stations are important for the public safety and conveniences, it should be careful to set their capacity instead of simply applying the general capacity standard to them, and thereby, improve their economy as well as prevent their accidents. With such a basic conception in mind, this study is aimed at analyzing the characteristics of the electric load in the subway stations and thereupon, suggesting some guidelines for setting of the electric facility capacity for subway stations in terms of optimal operation and safety.

A Numerical Study on the Smoke Control in Center-Platform Type Subway Station Fires (섬식 지하철역사내 화재시 연기제어에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • In this study, numerical simulations were carried out to analyze the effect of the smoke extraction system and fire shutters in subway station fires using FDS 4.0. Subway station used in the experiment was 145 m long. Simulation results are validated by comparing with experimental results. Simulation results showed good agreement with experimental results within $10^{\circ}C$. 10 MW polystyrene was used as a fuel in the numerical prediction. Numerical predictions were performed in the center-platform type subway station in case of a kiosk fire. Temperature and CO concentration were lowered by the operation of smoke extraction system. But, the operation of fire shutters had little effect on temperature and CO concentration in the platform level.

  • Railroad a field of basic industries in Korea had developed as representative transportation means in the interior. But since the 1970s, its transport requirement decrease had influenced in reduced earning. Thus railroad try to find a various subsidiary earning creations. Among the various subsidiary earning creations, a plan of privately financed station buildings is constructing and using. For the mean time the privately financed station have been constructed by in a narrow sensible development. But now like a Yongsan areas surrounding stations development, comprehensive development think over surrounding stations in a wide sensible development. Dae Jaen Station the traffic center of the south part in Seoul had been constructed by privately financed station of Lotte Shopping Co.

  • Using the artificial sun, namely the BIOSUN, we can control the sun light according to the latitude and longitude and for the seasonal changes and apply that to subway stations. By doing this, we can expect three effects, a. allowing the plants to grow inside the stations which will in turn contribute to improving air purity, controlling humidity, and reducing dust for pleasant environment, b. pleasant environment will foster positive emotional responses of the passengers and that would increase the satisfaction, and c. fostering good service for the citizenry and establishing an environmental friendly image of the Seoul Metro Subway System. The purpose of this thesis paper is to contemplate on the uses of the artificial sun powered by the microprocessor of a Light Emitting Diode (LED) in controlling the light and how the light can be utilized in facilitating photosynthesis that would allow plants to grow inside subway stations.

  • Subway station is installed with equipment of deficient ventilation and air purification in need of routine activity for users because projectors didn't have recognition of the importance of prevention equipment on disasters in subway stations. So if the accident in Deagu is occurred again, we can't prevent it. And it is urgently necessary to improve antique subway station for the safety and service to citizens because users were increased far more. Improvement of subway station has to be modernized the backward and antique subway station and maintained and developed by the center of traffic to give the social contribution with management of social facilities. And subway station has to be made conveniently so that everyone may use the station with one-stop system including sales, business, service equipment. This study will show the improvement plan of problem in underground space and situation of metropolitan-train history to improve metropolitan-train station .we will study a traffic line and equipment relocation of underground space considering safety by choosing the improved station and problems of the underground station in seoul. And then we will study the improvement plan of air purification and sound isolation to upgrade service in citizens.

  • 19세기초 영국에서 개발된 증기 기관차로 인하여 육상교통이 큰 변혁을 맞은 이래 열차의 속도, 승차감, 신뢰도 및 안전도, 경제성의 제고 등에 대한 계속적인 기술발전과 개량으로 철도 교통은 대량수송 수단의 주역으로 경제발전과 인류역사에 크게 공헌하여 왔다. 산업발전에 따른 고속화와 전철화로 철도차량의 최고속도는 프랑스의 고속전철(TGV)이 300km/h까지 도달했으나 고속주행시의 소음, 공해등으로 인하여 21세기 인류에게 제공될 지상의 대중교통수단으로서는 여러가지의 제한점을 보이고 있다. 최근 우리나라에서도 지속적이고 급속한 대중 교통수단으로서는 여러가지의 제한점을 보이고 있다. 최근 우리나라에서도 지속적이고 급속한 산업발전과 사회복지의 향상으로 국내의 산업물동량과 산업인구의 이동이 급격하게 증가하여 우리나라 산업동맥의 중추인 경부선의 경우 일일 수송능력은 120회/일 이르렀고 철도교통수요의 증가율('84년 예측치 5.9%년)과 특급이상의 승객증가율('84년 예측 12.5%)에 비추어 볼때, 1995년경에는 완전포화 상태에 도달할 것으로 예상되고 있다. 본 소고에서는 21세기 고도사회 진입에 대비하고 국민의 생활수준향상에 부응하는 빠르며, 쾌적하고, 안전한 고속 대중 교통수단으로써 관심을 불러 일으키고 있는 고속전철을 소개하고, 현재 운행하거나 개발중인 외국의 기술현황을 기술적인 면과 운용면에서의 고찰을 통하여 한국의 교통체제, 지형, 미래의 교통구조 등을 고려한 한국형 고속전철의 개발방향을 제시하고저 한다.
