The reinforced high-strength-concrete beam subjected to flexure moment behaves more brittly than the moderate-strength-concrete beam reinforced with equal reinforcement ratio($\rho$/$\rho_b$). Test results show that when the concrete strength exceeds 830kg/$cm^2$, the maximum reinforcement ratio should be less than $0.6{\rho}_b$ for ductile behavior (${\rho}_b$=balanced steel ratio). The ratio of flexural strength between experimental results and analytical results with rectangular stress block decrease as the compressive strength of concrete increase. The shape of the compressive stress block distributed triangularly. because the ascending part of the stress-strain curve shows fairly linear response up to maximum stress in contrast to the nonlinear behavior of the medium and low strength specimens.

This study attempts to identify the ways of reducing the floor impact sound, by applying six different types of the reinforced bar girders and stirrup arrangements to the Structure: (1) the longer-direction girder arrangements (2) the shorter-direction girder arrangements (3) the diagonal-direction arrangements (4) the longer-direction girder arrangements with stirrups (5) the shorter-direction girder arrangements with stirrups (6) the diagonal-direction arrangements with stirrups. In order to identify the most effective structural changes, each slab was tested with bang machines, measuring the level of the sound impact. The results showed that the longer-direction girder arrangements with stirrups were the most effective one. In addition, the effectiveness of slab was found to be remarkable, showing the level of minimum 1dB to maximum 5dB, where the slab was compared with the control models without girders and stirrups. In conclusion, it is suggested that the longer-direction girder arrangements with stirrups could possibly be applied to the Wall Structures to minimize the floor impact sound.

Reinforcing steel work plays an important role in terms of its structural performance or weight of construction cost for reinforced concrete structures. Precise estimation of re-bar quantity gives a basis for managing the reinforcing steel work effectively. However, the estimation process is still performed ineffectively based upon the expert's experience or manpower in spite of the advanced technology or improvement efforts. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a prototype system for taking-off the quantity of reinforcing steel bars quickly and accurately in an order consistent with the specific members identified on the drawings. An estimate algorithm considering the connection, settlement and coating thickness of re-bars was suggested regarding to their replacement conditions which places more emphasis on constructibility. Also, this system produces the shop drawings automatically with the calculation results.

Ubiquitous is an information communication environment which peoples could connect on network without being conscious of the network and computer condition at anytime and anywhere. Presently, advanced technology, digital cities and eco-friendly cities using Ubiquitous technology are being focused through out the world. As recent information industry and communication technology have developed remarkably, studies on intelligent structures and structural maintenance methods by combining a general idea of connecting all objects on network by interpolating computers which is called Ubiquitous Computing, and USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) are being attempted. In this paper, a basic experiment on penetration of RF(Radio Frequency) sensor nodes using an experimental sample setting concrete and reinforcing bar as variables is studied to estimate the possibility of applying wireless sensor networks in structures. The spring of reinforcing bars, concrete thickness, intensity of radio frequency were set up as variables, transmitting and receiving distance were checked vertically and horizontally. Moreover, Spectrum Analyzer was used for checking the magnitude of the frequency used in order to measure the reduction of radio wave exactly. The radio wave reduction was numerically analyzed, and the influence of the wavelength was analysed as well. As a result, the penetration depth in concrete without reinforcing bars was 45cm, and in reinforced concretes which reinforcing bars placed at spacing of 5cm and 15cm, the penetration depth were 37cm and 45cm each. No influence on radio wave penetration depth were found when the spacing of reinforcing bars in the reinforced concrete structures becomes over 15cm.
In this paper, we propose a CAD software framework to automatically generate a shop drawing. Shop drawing is to draw the geometric figures representing an arrangement of steel bars for a concrete building on its structural design, based on its construction specifications and the design rules, and its well-formed process lead to be automated. A key point of the design automation is to minimize the user interactions by automatically recognizing the design specifications and to finally generate the shape of the geometric figures. The graphic pipeline of the proposed framework consists of four stages; a specification DB, specification extraction, binding, and rendering. To effectively extract all specifications only for a figure from the DB and bind them to its shape, we use a hierarchical approach; the specifications are classified into three common, structural, and figure classes, and each attribute is extracted in design phases. Based on our framework, we implemented a specialized CAD for shop drawing using AutoCAD and could easily update it according to user's demands.
One of the most complex reinforcement location in the precast building frame is the beam-column joint in a prefabricated construction. It is generally resulted from the vortical bars of column, anchorage bars of beam, and bars of hoop. Particularly the hooked anchorage bars of beam are confronted with hoop and main column bars. The headed reinforcement is considered to place them easily and to reduce the anchorage length in a precast construction. Reversed cyclic loading tests are performed on four beam-column specimens to evaluate the strength and behavior of beam to column and column to column connections. The result of test shows that the headed reinforcement has a similar performance than that of hooked reinforcement in a precast specimen with strong column and weak beam joints. The splice column joints which are used frequently in the domestic fields also show reliable behaviors in those tests with strong column and weak beam joints.

This study investigated the bond behavior between recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) concrete and deformed reinforcing bars. The position (i.e., vertical, horizontal) and the location (i.e., 375mm, 225mm and 75 mm) of deformed bar were considered as a main test parameter in this paper. From the test results, it was found that maximum bond strength of top reinforcement was decreased compared with that of bottom reinforcement. Also bar embedded horizontally 225mm above from base could not satisfy bond strength requirement provided in CEB-FIP code. It was caused by the fact that bonded area at the bottom of horizontal reinforcement was significantly reduced by the poring water and laitance. In this specimen, the bond strength provided by bearing stress and wedging action of concrete was not fully observed.
